I'll be outraged if he leaves and we don't replace him. Until then it's just a bid and journalist speculation.

It was clear we needed to recoup around £25M.
Everyone was hoping that would be from the sales of players we were that bothered about keeping (Cannon, Campbell, Zatterstrom, McGuinness, Davies, Gbric. maybe Burrows etc etc). These squad players were more easily replaceable.
Some of the wage bill has gone which might have helped a little.
But there hasn't been little solid interest until now and that is only Cannon.
The problem is we have had to sell almost all of our attacking threat to cover that £25M.
But if we sell Cannon on top of COH then that should give an excess of around £6M?? (over the £25M defecit)
If that £6M is invested in a couple of creative players we might be OK.
It is a huge IF though as it stands now!
Love the positivity. However....I think the phrase I'm looking for is "don't hold your breath "

It’s started.

CW before wouldn’t comment on the board, now he’s putting this sale at their door. I can’t help but see a pattern developing.
it is at their door - Wilders already said that he wanted to keep O'Hare but it will be decided by others (the board) whose job it is to decide

Doubtful any income from sales will be spent due to the current financial situation,eg: no parachute payments and flogging anybody who will bring cash in.A very sad situation indeed.

I don't think Wilder gets a pass just because of the owners and board but how can anyone expect us to fare well losing Hamer, Brooks, and COH with only BBD and Donovan coming in so far.

Still time but.....

Good luck to him. Always put effort in but far from sure we made the best of him due to weaknesses elsewhere.

If this is true that's me done. The boardroom has screwed this club over sine the late 60's.

Absolutely tin pot. First division is beckoning here and it will take a lot of coming back from.

Don't feel like you can blame Wilder, he has got his hands tied behind his back.

Wilder will be gone by Xmas..of his own choice.....by the owners own making.

I dont see sufficient goals in this team/players at Championship level now to win games.

And we haven't had the -12 points shit thrown at us yet.

Down the shitter to Lg1 we go.
If we don't get any players in and these sales go through I think Wilder might stick it out for the season as keeping us up would be a potentially bigger success than Wilder mk1's accomplishments.

If you've been following us that long, we're still in a bit of a golden era compared to a lot of our history.

The reality is we're a 2nd tier sized club, who occasionally has a dalliance in the top flight, and drops down to the 3rd tier every now and then.

After a few seasons flirting with the Premier League, we're back down to our level and will have to be a lot smarter with what little money we've got.

One of our few attacking threats left, decent fee but the timing is disgraceful. Guarantee we don’t get any replacements in either. Relegation looming very much on the cards now.

Tin hat time....

He doesn't fit with how we're going to play this season so getting as much as we can is the best option here.

For those hard of thinking, we've been stocking up on midfielders of a certain profile (total opposite of COH) for an obvious reason.

Losing COH before he leaves on a free is good business if he doesn't fit with how we're going to play.

I'd agree with this if we have someone to fill that role (in addition to the creativity we needed before Wrexham bid for him). But we're so low on anything exciting behind Bamford that I cannot see where the goals are coming from.

That said, 7m is a pretty mad figure IMO.

Rather than fill the hole, assume it disappears

Would imagine Bamford rotates with Campbell as a lone No 9 and out wide we have Chong, BBD, Donovan and maybe add one more with One to cover all positions....

£7m is daylight robbery. Not quite £6m for Trusty, but not far behind...

How are we going to play?

The only way I can see us playing is with two classic wingers and energetic wing backs. Pinging it into Bamford and Cannon (if he’s still here)…

COH wasn’t that.

Donovan needs to kick on from Blackburn.

Cooper
Seriki Tanganga McGuinness McCallum
Riedewald
Donovan Philips/Rothwell BBD
Bamford Cannon/One

I'd imagine 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. Front to back very quickly and create overloads out wide...

Devils advocate - those unhappy at COH going - how do we play with him?

I mean absolutely, but we still have to replace him as he would have been an option from the wing cutting in. So the same point stands. He goes, we lose an option.

I'd be happy with 4-3-3 and it would make most sense with current squad. Could do with at least one more winger option though.
Would not want 4-4-2 as it would mean Cannon playing which is like playing with 10 men.
It has been frustrating when COH has been stuck out on the wing, so in isolation, I don't think it's the disaster others might. However, when paired with the sales of Hamer and Brooks, it's a hell of a lot of goals to remove from the team.
There will have to be some clever business done today to cover our arses on this one...I'm not holding my breath.
