Burrows off ?

If Burrows leaves then we've got a decision to make with the nature of his replacement

Do we go for a more defensive option (RND?) to complement McCallum or another attack minded option and replicate what we have now with two good attacking full backs on either side

I want us to stick with attacking full backs on both sides. It's an interesting new development for us in a back 4 and is a massive reason we're scoring goals

£5m seems cheap. Not much more than we paid and I’m sure Peterborough have a sell on?
I thought we laid about 2.25m on him and even then it isn’t clear how much was up front.

Unlike Wednesday we do know you have to sell players.

McCallum has been very good plus he’s more athletic than Burrows. You could loan Amiss or recall RND and weaken QPR if we wanted.

Certainly Burrows has had a half season now well below last season and he was never a brilliant defender.

Rhys once had a rough game against Forest at home a few years back but generally he’s a pretty robust left back. He spent a while after injury jobbing as a left centre back but full back or wind back is his position.

It wouldn’t kill us to make this move happen, especially if it meant keeping other players.

In the meantime all hail PaulPeschBlade 😉

Burrows is a technical gifted footballer
I don't think he has the size to be a defender. If we lose possession he seems to be in no man's land. He's not quick enough to recover. Probably a midfield player not a defender

Probably a wing back, which we don’t play with.

Think we might be looking past the obvious here. Why would he want to leave, to go there? He's already on the doorstep of the pinnacle of European Football. He's still got plenty of time on his United Contract, moving East, to the Turkish League would, professionally, be a backwards step. I guarantee you, should an offer be extended to any player in the Turkish league, to play for us, or any of the top 6 Champ clubs, they'd bite your hand off.

It might be different if Burrows wasn't young and English, at the other end of his career and had already made a habit of moving country to play/bump his wages, but I doubt he's the type that wants to move away from, arguably, the best league(s) in the world.

On the doorstep of the pinnacle of European football? What, at United?

Burrows will never be good enough to play in the PL. He'd be horrendous at that level athletically and defensively

The best option for him, the pinnacle, would be to move to a '2nd tier' top division league outside the big 5 with European competition included. Turkey, Belgium, Holland, somewhere like that. That's what I'd be thinking if I was him anyway

Wilder (for better or worse) does seem to be fairly stubborn with his signings. Burrows was excellent last season having stepped up from L1 and with leadership experience.

Seems a wierd move for him to go overseas and I would be surprised if the club let's him go to easily.

If we played with wingers, I could see him playing in front of mccallum as he is better defensively that most attacking players.

I like Burrows, he clearly has talent but I noticed last year that he is more likely than other players to go missing when he makes a mistake. Maybe its a confidence or resilience thing which can be overcome with further experience, right coaching etc. I think he does have the potential to play in the top leagues and I’d be sorry to see him go.

More so, the Championship. If (I don't think he is for one moment) he's looking to move, I VERY much doubt it'd be out of the Championship.

Unless a move to the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A or Ligue 1 becomes an option, he'll be doing all he can to stay in the Championship.

He's young, British, has undoubted talents. Moving to a 2nd string, D list euro league, would be tantamount to moving to League 2 here. Not going to happen.

That doesn't stop him wanting it and choosing a path that increases it's likelihood.

He might also want to play in European competitions and, realistically, he’s short of the level of ability needed for him to be able to achieve that in England. And maybe he fancies experiencing a different culture?

Sure, but for me, I think all roads lead to England for footballers on the ascendancy of their career. I can see, late 20’s / 30's, partner, kids, alternative lifestyles become more important, but he's still very much at the start of his journey.

I reckon bladeshub gets his stuff from the accountant who we know didn’t know the Prince prior to his arrival at United. Whatever tactics he used to get in bed with the Prince he’s probably used again with someone, somewhere.

And if bladeshub is the famous MaxWUEDPster he’s giving Darren exactly what he needs to feed his ego.

Many choose to go overseas these days, the Bellingham brothers being an extreme case in point, but there are many excellent young English players scattered around European leagues.

Burrows hasn't been the same (and neither have Sheffield United) since that tragic disallowed goal at Wembley. There's plenty of potential though, and we've seen what he's capable of, so I'd be keeping him.

The owners' model is based around selling players for a profit though, so if someone offers more than we paid, I'd expect there to at least be a conversation for any player.

Flatters to deceive. Anything above 6 we should take. Good player but lacks aggression in his game.
Sweet left peg, weak, paceless and poor defender generally. Second choice left back in a Championship team. £6 million is pie in the sky IMO.
