Brooks

He will start the first game. He has more talent than any of our other attacking midfielders, now just the big test - can he do it in a mans league?

If he does we've got a £8mil player on our hands for free next season.

Thanks City. Bet they didn't fancy him to have a growth spurt!

EDIT: No offence to Duffy and Carruthers. They've proved they can do it in the first team obviously and forged a career out of it but no doubt that Brooks has the potential to far exceed them.

What wage would you pay him?
Should he be made the highest paid player at the club, even though he's rarely played any matches at league football level.

The last time I heard our fans raving about us having a great player was the Italian lad Diego Di Geralamo that Juventus were looking at.
We offered him a big pay rise but he refused because he wanted even more money as he was so convinced that he was a rising star with a massive future.

He already achieved what Diego has in his whole career.

Has he got an agent?

If the answer is yes...

...then there is a high chance he will be gone.

We should make a contingent of any deal we get him back on a season long loan, also get a decent amount, think Walcott.

In a ideal world, the lad would be content with getting a fair wage, grafting his bollocks off and pushing himself into the first team.

If the big clubs come knocking and he is happy to take his chances in a premiership academy, then so be it. We all know the drill.

With all the hype surrounding him from pre-season games and a youth tournament, we should all take a breath and remember the level of hype which surrounded Diego.

We need to calm down, cross our fingers that he won't leave, and give him a chance to develop. He's not a starting first team player yet. I doubt he will be for a while yet.

Oh you're gonna be proven so wrong. You'll be glad of it too though of course

Not quite Messi but one player he does remind me of is Draxler at PSG. Early days yet though of course.
That's the similarities I draw from him too. He's a similar type of player to him and Silva how he glides along the pitch.

Why so? I would start him from the word go in the championship, he's quite clearly ready.

He doesn't strike me as the type who'll push for a move. He's already been bitten by the premiership academy scene don't forget, he was binned by City and we picked him up.

I think he'll be happy with a competitive wage for the first team and to battle it out.

If we accept an offer it's a different matter obviously. I thought the same about DCL.

I know it's only a friendly, and Brooks didn't really show anything I didn't already know he had, but I was absolutely buzzing to see that goal go in. Things like that can't be ignored. Nobody else in our squad could've done that. It can only strengthen his chances of at least being a regular in our squad and hopefully the first team. Unfortunately, Premier League scouts won't ignore things like that either but if he's under contract there's no reason we can't keep him a while before selling for big money.

He was our best attacking player, he was the most impressive player on the pitch. The game changed when he came on. Like last season, I was thinking that we could just do with a bit more pace and quality at the top of the pitch, then he came on and provided it, and we won the game as a result.

I was also glad to see him brought on alongside another attacking midfielder supporting one central striker. It's something I highlighted as a possibility earlier in this thread, along with playing him from the right hand side. We saw this in action tonight, and it looks like a very promising prospect.

Brooks has elite level ability and anyone who's seen enough of him should know that. He has quite a unique style and seems like the real deal. It seemed we'd lost our chance to produce a player like this when it went wrong for Diego but along comes Brooks with the attitude to match the ability. Anyone saying 'don't get carried away' etc..... well, if you can't get excited about a player like him then maybe football isn't for you.

Did someone just compare him to Messi

FFS take a chill pill I think he is a great prospect but thats all he is atm a prospect he needs time and not too much pressure on him so he can realise his potential

It was me and no I don't need a chill pill.
I said he approaches his game the way Messi does. Not that he's as good.
Me or anyone bigging him up on here ain't gonna have jack to do with what he does or where and when he goes but it would be nice just to dream.

Diego was a very good prospect before his injury, I thought I'd just clear that up with some people spouting bollocks. What we have in Brooks though is an unbelievable prospect so long as he stays injury free and a player who will play as high as he wants due to his talents and through hard work, with a manager who seems perfect for him.

Brooks, the stage is all yours.

This lad will play for England with out a doubt. With the fees some of the championship players are going for lately IF he does well next season, no reason why we shouldn't get at least £15m

To be fair given he's scored in a preseason friendly against Chesterfield, he's got to worth at least £40-£50m.

My old man normally picks out the good ones straight away. On Kyle Walker's full debut he said "that kid has got it, he will play for England."

He was at the game tonight while I'm having to follow it on twitter from the West Country. He texted me saying "we have a very special player there" ....he's never been wrong about the best ones.

Absolutely spot on mate. He has the whole package - incredible pace, awareness, balance, direct and can shoot!
There is no way that we will keep him if he performs like that every week unless we improve his contract and add in a ridiculous release clause. He really is that good and I can't remember having any player as exciting as him in recent years.

Awesome, truly awesome!

I wish people were capable of grasping the context of such comparisons rather than just paying attention to the name compared to.

Brooks is indeed like Messi. He's a pure dribbler. If he gets kicked, if he gets knocked down, he'll get up and do it again in exactly the same way, totally undeterred, nothing puts him off his game. That mental toughness added such to ability is a very valuable combination.
