I think he's been doing well since coming back. Working hard decent ball for Jr's. Unlucky not to score definitely wasn't a sitter but was a good chance to make it 3 1

The criticisms of Brewster have absolutely been justified but on the whole this season he’s been a good squad player and has contributed far more than he has previously, another impact today. He’s played a lot of minutes where he’s not playing as the main striker which I think has helped, seems a better player whenever he shoots less.

It's a low bar but he's having his best season for us.

He’s definitely carved out a little niche for himself coming on and giving us something a bit different. Good ball for the goal and unlucky with the shot, he could have maybe gone 5 yards closer and then shot but it was inches away from being a goal.

He probably shouldn't have blasted it, should've kept his composure. He did play very well though, his pass to Rak Sakyi was stellar. Peck was great too, as you said.

That's the thing though, he doesn't have any composure. His instinct when he's in a shooting position is to twat it and hope for the best.

The lad is only 24 years old for god's sake,he's not even reached his prime yet.
The crap he's been through in such a short career is unfair to say the least.
There is no way he should be allowed to leave the club.
A new contract must be offered to him. If not he'll go on to be a brilliant player somewhere else.

And he’s missed the best part of four years of development.

Is he good enough for a new contract? I’m not sure, but he is developing into a decent squad player. Let’s see if he keeps it up, but FFS cut the lad a bit of slack. UTB

You must be having a laugh! He’s been here nearly 5 years and in that time he’s scored 6 goals and pocketed 9 million in wages.
Even this year when he’s having his best season he’s been an adequate squad filler at best, with just 2 goals in 25 appearances.

Unsurprisingly he’s upped his game a bit recently as he knows he’ll be without a club in the summer so has decided to pull his finger out. It will also be unsurprising that if the club were to offer him any sort of contract he’d be either out injured, or those levels would drop, before the ink was even dry on any contract.

Unless you’re privy to his contract or bank account, you haven’t got a clue how much we have paid him in wages. Yet some still use it and his transfer fee to beat him with. If we were happy to pay the fee and offer him whatever money he does earn neither of those are his fault are they?

If you can't see Brewster is changing games for us almost every week at the minute I don't know what to tell you. Maybe this sport isn't for you.

New deal if he keeps it up. Weighted in our favour of course

He helped changed the game yesterday and was quite impressive, played like a man on a mission trying to win a contract.
He also showed little touches of quality hinting he might be upper Championship level.

In the other games he’s not changed any game, he’s been OK, just neat and tidy without doing anything stand out.
Think he’s set his bar so low….a bit like what Cannon is currently doing….that when Brewster has an average/ normal game….people are impressed.

Do find it weird how so many people are unable to be balanced.
An opinion seems to be based on the like factor. So if you like Brewster then you have to support and defend him
You’re either in the “Brewster is fantastic” gang or in the “Brewster is crap” gang. I’m in neither and just judge him match by match.
Also I really like Brewster but not afraid to call out a poor performance and criticise.

He’s been underwhelming most of his time here, occasionally poor, but that generally relates to his forward play and goal scoring.
However in recent matches he’s contributed and played OK, definitely good enough.
Think yesterday was one of his better contributions in years, was quite impressed….and he deserves credit.
however the team were so poor yesterday, that in comparison all the subs looked really good.
One thing I do love about Brewster is his attitude and desire. Him and young Peck are Londoners but both show passion like they are Blades.
When a player has the right attitude and gives everything to the club…they’ll always get my support.

didn't watch the game yesterday but not surprised he did well again.

I would definitely entertain a new deal for him (1 year extension) but one that reflects his role as a part time, impact sub.

The people saying Brewster lacks composure & just hits shots as hard as he can at the keeper should refresh themselves by looking at the goals he scored for Swansea before he came here. He took up excellent positions in the box to be on the end of crosses & was an excellent first touch finisher.

It is obvious that he is desperate to score goals for us & his long long layoffs through injury have taken their toll on his confidence, but with more game time & a bit of luck things will change for him & us. You can see him having bigger effects on games he is involved in, even his running style looks more fluid than I have seen in quite a while, & he looks sharper & quicker than before. I really believe he will turn it around for us.

To those who say he is trying harder to win a new contract with is hugely disrespectful & quite simply wrong.

Had a good game yesterday coming on from the bench , caused them more problems than Canon & BBD contribution together .
Linked up well with Rak Sakyi when he came on & offered us some threat up top which had pretty much been none existent in the first hour of the game . The substitutions won us the game & he deserves credit for his part in that , i would start him against Boro on Weds .

He is just getting over his injury problems and becoming the player we all hoped he would be. A few goals and his confidence returns and he will be a real threat.
I would give him a new contract, otherwise someone else will have the benefit of all the work we have put into him

Genuine nonsense.
Is Wilder picking a side based on salary and transfer fee? Does he sit in meetings with Alan Knill saying “tidy performance from Rhian but he didn’t quite perform as a £20 million striker so he can’t start the next game for me”. All that matters right now is his performance.

Regards a contract there are a few factors to consider:

Best position
Player ceiling…..what level could he reach?
Starter or impact sub

We bought him as a striker and he’s never convinced in that position.
Doesn’t make the runs like we see from Campbell and always lacks composure in front of goal.
He strikes a ball well, with power but only seems to score goals when he has no time to think.
However he is a good all round player with decent link play, so he’s able to play as attacking midfield.

In recent weeks Brewster has played quite well…a 7 out of 10. However that’s been his highest rating since being here.
We have players like Rak Sakyi and Brookes where this season they’ve been game winners 8 or 9
But in other games they’ve had stinkers, done nothing, with a 4 out of 10.
Altho overall Brooks and Rak Sakyi haven’t been great this season, they have both shown spells of being Premier standard, do their ceiling is high.
The best I’ve ever seen Brewster play is upper Champiomshio level but most of the time he suggests he could become an average Championship player.
Do we really want to sign a player who could become a consistent average Championship player?
If we’re promoted no, but if we’re still in the Championship we might keep him on much reduced terms.

Anyone noticed that his best recent performances have tended to be when he’s come on as sub.
So that’s so,etching to consider. A few weeks back it was a definite NO from me
But anymore performances like yesterday and I might move into the “offer him a new contract” group.
Think a lot depends on which division we’re in next season, our finances and what other options we have.

Also if we're to keep Diaz wouldn't it be better to release Brewster and put the money (wages)) towards a more proven player than take another punt that he's going to come off, Wilder will do his best to keep him as he's trying to justify him paying that fee, but at the moment it's a no from me

I think you need to take your Bladey Academy glasses off because Brooks has been anonymous in 90% of the games he's played in, and at no time this season looked Premiership standard.

I would say the other way round.
Brewster is younger and wouldn't cost a fee, so put the amount it would cost to sign Diaz towards a more proven Premiership player if we do get there.

We where better with Rian Brewster today than without him. He's definitely effected games this season. Think he's starting to gel, I really do.

It's keeping him fit and I think right now him coming on as a sub suits his fitness. Wilder even said the other week he doesn't expect Brewster to be able to play 2 games in the space of week and are managing his game time.

I think the super sub role works for us and his fitness at the moment.

Only a year between them btw

I saw one of Diaz’s first ever games when he was a 17 year old. Feels like a lifetime ago.

Incidentally he played off the right and caused plenty of chaos. Which he did yesterday too, only the chaos was all in our own half…

He's operating at a Madine in 2019 level for us right now, which means he is certainly useful in this specific moment, and I think he is having his best season for us. Still a farewell in the summer for me, but he may find a Championship club at this rate. He will certainly never get a payday like he has had here the last five years though.
