Regards a contract there are a few factors to consider:
Best position
Player ceiling…..what level could he reach?
Starter or impact sub
We bought him as a striker and he’s never convinced in that position.
Doesn’t make the runs like we see from Campbell and always lacks composure in front of goal.
He strikes a ball well, with power but only seems to score goals when he has no time to think.
However he is a good all round player with decent link play, so he’s able to play as attacking midfield.
In recent weeks Brewster has played quite well…a 7 out of 10. However that’s been his highest rating since being here.
We have players like Rak Sakyi and Brookes where this season they’ve been game winners 8 or 9
But in other games they’ve had stinkers, done nothing, with a 4 out of 10.
Altho overall Brooks and Rak Sakyi haven’t been great this season, they have both shown spells of being Premier standard, do their ceiling is high.
The best I’ve ever seen Brewster play is upper Champiomshio level but most of the time he suggests he could become an average Championship player.
Do we really want to sign a player who could become a consistent average Championship player?
If we’re promoted no, but if we’re still in the Championship we might keep him on much reduced terms.
Anyone noticed that his best recent performances have tended to be when he’s come on as sub.
So that’s so,etching to consider. A few weeks back it was a definite NO from me
But anymore performances like yesterday and I might move into the “offer him a new contract” group.
Think a lot depends on which division we’re in next season, our finances and what other options we have.
