Brewster

My experience of actual matches is that Brewster gets support from the fans in general. In fact I'd be confident in saying that I bet he feels grateful for the support he gets where it matters.

The comments on here aren't in line with the reaction he gets at games.
I think he's rubbish, and obviously resent the huge outlay for no return. But when he comes on the pitch, I'm very supportive. There's no doubt that's the case in the vast majority of supporters. Given how shite he's been, his actual support has remained phenomenal which is as it should be, though surprising.

One final thing, can we please use this players as a reference point for when we have an awful player in the future and people use the phrase akin to ‘oh he just needs one to go in and then he will fly’.

Has that literally ever happened in the sport?

If a player is bad, they’re bad. It’s fine to accept it and move on, but the constant false hopes / false dawns have been exhausting with this guy.

This 100%. No player should ever receive criticism ever again, as they didn’t choose to be signed or choose the fee. As fans we just have to accept any old rubbish that gets served up as we might hurt a players feelings if we complain!

I think we all want him to come good ,he seems like a good kid but he has had four years to show signs that he is what we need but alas he is not . plus his injuries record is so poor . Afraid his time is up . He is reported to be our top earner on over 30,000 grand a week ,time to spend that cash on others who can add to the squad and play for most of the season .

Yep - whilst nobody knows exactly how much he earns, he signed from Liverpool for tens of millions - there's not a lot of doubt he's also costing us towards several million pounds a year in wages. The whole debacle is just horrific, and it will be great to offload and draw a line under it.

As a fanbase what’s wrong with letting players know their performances aren’t acceptable? It isn’t that long ago since fans were signing “you’re not fit to wear the shit” at our players. I don’t think that was wrong as the players and club needed telling. Isn’t it time we let Brewster know?

The fee is not his fault. Not many slating the player repeatedly point the finger at the man who chased him and got the funds for the signing. But managers make errors just as players don’t make it, or even look like making it. That’s football.

So that means he can’t be criticised then?

Thought Brewster was shite when he came on but why play him wide left. Surely fetch him on up front to replace Moore who was atrocious.
Played LW coz Wilder stubbornly clings to playing our attackers on their weaker side of the pitch
See JRS Brooks Hamer
Brooks on the LW would have won the game for us yesterday
And Hamer might have shown a bit more interest on RW

Where did l say that? That’s your go to moment when you won’t comment on the point. Pretend someone’s said something they haven’t. It’s what kids do.
The fees largely irrelevant. He’s shit and his attitude is shocking. He needs telling what we think of his performances. If we had kept playing Gbric and he kept letting shots in he would be getting dogs abuse. I bet there wouldn’t be fans on here saying he’s trying his best

I dont think it does any good slagging him off while he is on the pitch ,I think he knows that it aint working .Just giving him a mouth full while he is playing just undermines his confidence and he will try to hide which makes it worse . He is a problem to the club so after 4 years it's time to move him on and save his wages or use them on something better .

So that means he can’t be criticised then?
No one's above criticism, but im pretty sure the lad himself knows its not happening and his performances arent good enough etc. I was one who backed him to have a good season and get us 10/15 goals i think i said, well that's not going to happen.

Dont get the pay him up and use his wages elsewhere - that's not happening either!

So, he'll be here til the end of the season i'd imagine, he might nick a goal or two, you never know.

But not much point people going in on him, not his fault for the fee, the wages or the fact that he might not be up to it!

I don't understand the people criticising Brewster. The club decided to buy high and pay high him high wages. He seems to put the effort in when on the field it just his output doesn't match the club thought they were buying. That is not his fault!

See above regards Grbic. Would we all be saying the same if he was still number 1? I bet not many fans would be saying let’s get behind him he might save one eventually,

I've seen players turn their careers and reputations around here - Booker, Gannon, Hoyland, Coutts, Clarke, etc. - I'm sure there are more. It takes a lot of guts, but when they do, it feels all the better I expect, it certainly does as a fan. Sometimes, it's simply adjusting to new surroundings, tactics & team-mates. In RB's case, it's the hope that has drained us as fans and him as a player. I sincerely hope he finds the right club next summer at a lower level, and somehow rejuvenates his career. I certainly won't boo him if / when we play against him in the future.

We'd all put the effort in though wouldn't we? But we'd be thoroughly wank too.

The lad has had his chance and it just is not working for him or the club .In fact the front line looks garbage really . I am DREAMING of a strike force of BBD , Cannon and Campbell as back up but we can only dream i'm afraid.

Of Course you’ll say it’s irrelevant, it’s saves laying the blame at the feet of whoever signed him and decided (your) £35k a week was worth it.

Now you’ve gone onto his attitude, what now, he doesn’t give a monkeys? Or he’s just shit? Bit of detail about that new claim.

Any comment on you making things up?

The main issue with Brewster is the fee we paid.

If we'd signed him on a free from Rochdale he'd never get a game and there wouldn't be all this bile aimed at him because nobody would care much.
It's not so much the fee as the wages and length of contract which have made him impossible to sell or even loan out in the occasional periods of fitness.

Anyway , his contract ends soon and then we can try to forgive & forget + let the memory fade.

Without anything personal against the lad , I sincerely hope we let him go , because to keep him is to keep a constant reminder of the club's longest-lasting negative experience with a player.

Whatever CW's view , the club only has to look at his fitness record to veto a new contract.

If we’d signed him on a free from Rochdale he’d have been out on loan in January 2021 and released in June 2021.

People care because of the gigantic hole his signing made in our finances.
The Prince gently alluded to this in his RS interview.

The time for recriminations should be over now.

The manager made a bad judgement on an expensive young prospect. He was described as "one for the future".
The Prince should never have sanctioned it - we have never been a rich enough club to spend that kind of cash on a player incapable of going straight into the first team - madness took hold.
Then the injuries.
Then the dawning realisation that we'd been sold a pup.
It's all history now.
It can't be undone.
Like Covid , like losing JoC , we are where we are.

We can't get rid of him early , as some suggest.
Neither contractually nor with our current injuries/thin squad.
All we can do is make what use of him we can , until his contract expires , which is what CW is doing.
And trust in the new owners to let him go , when it does.

I say the owners , not CW , because, for obvious reasons , CW can't make any public comment - and so no one knows what his view is.
He might be daft enough to want to renew him.

But I trust the owners to look at the 5 years , count the periods of injury , count the goals scored and politely decline.

He has no footballing brain
Yet you watch his youth career & Swansea loan spell and his movement was excellent. He shows great strikers instincts & shooting ability.

It’s like he’s cursed with us. It feels like space jam where he’s had all his talent stolen from him & it’ll return when he signs for someone else.

Maybe Liverpool knew all along he was bang average and that’s why they wanted to sell him rather than loan where that could/ would have been exposed.

The transfer fee isn’t his fault, nor is the contract he’s being paid but unfortunately it’s just been a bad move for both parties
