Even without knowing him personally you can tell he’s a very nice lad worh an infectious enthusiasm. For that alone I wish him well.
His time here however was underwhelming. Plagued by injuries he must have been very frustrated.
Even though he was here 5 years it felt like he never really got going. He was either injured, recovering from injury, not up to speed or about to get injured.
For me his highlights were one spell around January a couple of years ago when he scored 3 in 6 and then we had to pull Jebbo back from loan, harming his development, because he got injured again.
He scored a brilliant goal against Blackburn and of course he’ll always have a derby winner to his name.
He had a great attitude and worked hard but the output wasn’t really there. As a striker he lacked anticipation and though he is a decent passer it’s difficult to know his best position because of the lack of consistent output.
Financially will go down as one of our poorest investment and whilst we enjoyed two top flight seasons under Christ it will go down as another big spent that created a big loss, to file alongside McBurnie, Mousset, Robinson, Burke and Freeman. You could even add Berge if you were being harsh as we probably lost 5-7m on him too.
None of this was Brewster’s fault of course and he did wind Wednesday fans up, which is always nice…
