GLTTL, there was a time I had seen all of his goals live! Unfortunately was not there to see him put the ball in the Wednesday net. He was always a trier and had some rotten luck, not his fault Wilder spunked the moneh. He was always one to lead the tributes to George last season, and I do remember the interview with him at Millwall away where he'd scored and dedicated it to a young family member who had passed away, makes you realise there are people wearing the shirt. Hope he scores against Wednesday if they make it to fulfilling their fixtures.

If Derby have an equivalent to the View From on new signings, this one's going to be a doozy

Agree because these days all comments tend to be black or white divisive. Either Brewster was great or he was shit……when the truth is at times he was both…..overall he’s somewhere in between, most games in recent months he played as attacking midfielder and was average/ OK.
He seemed to be one of Wilders favourites as he was always keen to squeeze him in the team somewhere.

Do think it’s important to not only judge ability but also their character, always appreciate a player who is genuine and cares, giving 100% effort.
Hence why, accept he was a big failure here and don’t rate him as a striker (he often seemed unlucky in front of goal but it become too much of an habit to be bad luck) but still appreciate his efforts and wish him the best.

Watch him go and score on his debut at Derby and suddenly become the Marco Van Basten of the Championship ha ha.

Decent move for him. Derby are a decent big club and quite close to Sheffield and I’d say…a bottom half Championship club fits his level.

He came with a great reputation….in fact some Liverpool fans were angry he left saying their coaches believed he could be the new Michael Owen.
However what a disaster of a signing….injured almost through out his contract….which isn’t his fault.

However my issue was when he was on the comeback trail….his composure in front of goal was terrible.
Even his technique as a striker seemed poor because he always went for power and tended to blast it straight at the keeper.

However you could see he has allround ability regards passing and awareness and when moved into midfield he was decent for us without ever being great
He also clearly cared about the club, good influence on the training pitch and gave 100% when playing matches…so I give him credit for that.

Our fans give him stick but I’d put him in a similiar category to Sam McCallum.
Great attitude, quite versatile and decent ability, at is best probably average Championship standard and a great squad player to have on the bench.

As long as we’d offered squad type, reduced wages then I’d have been happy to keep him as a squad player.

Can understand how some feel bitter about the high transfer fee and wasted money
But unlike some of our other players don’t think we should have any malice towards him
And I hope and expect he’ll get a good reception when he returns to play at the Lane.
I dont think our lot gave him stick tbh ,infact I'd say we were all very patient & willing him to be a success....we all wanted him to come good .
And if he cared about the club ,he should have took reduced wages and pay us back with some goals.

Good luck to the guy, wish him all the best had a horrible injury hope he can now have a decent career

“Brewster scores hatrick on way to 25 goals for the season as Derby clinch play off place above Sheff Utd”

He’ll definitely score against us next season and the “told you so” brigade will see this as some form of affirmation that he was amazing all along despite very little evidence to back that up in 4 years at the club.

In a minority (I think), that's sad to see him go.
Started to see some green shoots with him last season.

Derby need to play him off a forward (Carlton Morris) and give him time to work out his game.
There's loads of positive attributes there to work with, he just needs to figure out what to do when he doesn't have the ball. .

Good luck to him though.
Came up with some important goals for us last season and always seemed to have high spirits despite his numerous setbacks.

A very useful player and expect him to do alright for Derby if he keeps injury free. Big if on our experience but he’s done the right things this last year and perhaps a nice move for him,

We don't do very well when we spunk the money. Here's our top 10 transfer arrivals
  1. Brewster
  2. Berge
  3. Archer
  4. Ramsdale
  5. McBurnie
  6. Hamer
  7. Souza
  8. Cannon
  9. Mousset
  10. Robinson
I make that 7 Wilder signings and 3 Hecky signings.
Updating that with some more context...

  1. Berge: €25m (approx £22m). Wilder. Sold for £15m
  2. Brewster: £18.5m (fee could have risen to £23.5m but add-ons unlikely to have been triggered). Wilder. Released on a free
  3. Archer: £18m. Heckingbottom. Sold back to Villa for £13.5m under the terms of the agreement.
  4. McBurnie: £17m. Wilder. Released on a free
  5. Ramsdale: £12.6m*. Wilder. Sold to Arsenal for £24m (fee could have risen to £30m, some add-ons likely to have been triggered)
  6. Hamer: £11m (fee could rise to £15m, some add-ons likely to have been triggered). Heckingbottom. Still at the Lane
  7. Souza: €8m (approx £7m; fee could have risen to €12.5m/£11m but few add-ons likely to have been triggered). Heckingbottom. Sold to Wolfsburg for €15m
  8. Cannon: £7m (fee could rise to £10m but add-ons unlikely to have been triggered). Wilder. Still at the Lane
  9. Mousset: £6m (fee could have risen to £10m, some add-ons likely to have been triggered). Wilder. Released on a free
  10. Robinson: £4.5m (fee could have risen to £6m). Wilder. Moved to West Brom in a deal which valued him at £7m (Burke +£3m)
Wilder's 7 cost £87.6m. Three were released on frees, three sold for a total of around £47m and one is still here.
Hecky's 3 cost £36m. Two have been sold bringing in around £27m, one's still here.

Always had a soft spot for Rhian and was desperate for.him to do well as I coukd see something in him
Never worked out but wouldn't surprise me if he rebuilds his career
I'll always remember him for one of my happiest moments as a Blade that one yard thunderbastard against the farmyard urchins not just because I watched it with my brothers but because I had a tenner on him to score the winner
Cheers brewing best og luck to you
Hope you show respect when we meet again

Feels like a huge pressure off our shoulders now we don't have to convince ourselves he's not all that bad really. Glad we don't have to waste another penny on the injury prone bang average championship player.

Will be interesting to see how he does at Derby, thought he might try to go somewhere above his level like a bottom end PL team or cash-rich Championship side stockpiling strikers where he'd continue to have the same issues he had here.

Derby should give him a genuine chance for regular football where he can nail down a position, rather than moving around on the whim of a boss who kept crowbarring him in but never seemed to know what he actually wanted from him. Not sure he'd have fitted how Selles wants to play and a fresh start without the baggage of the fee and injuries is probably for the best.

Apart from the obvious goal that he will be remembered for, there were countless times where he was frustrating with power straight at the keeper but only if he could have stayed fit and produces a few more like the beauty against Blackburn, I think we would have been in a different league.

what contract, if any, would you offer him?

£10k pw, £5k appearance bonus, £5k goal bonus

On his recent performances think he can do a job, but no way he’s getting forty grand a week here or anywhere
£5k goal bonus would have only earned him £30k performance bonus as a striker appearing 106 times for us!

Be interesting to see how he is received when we play them. He was certainly a trier the lad and who put the ball in the Wednesday net? Something that no one may ever do again, of course.

Would love to know how much they are paying him compared to what was offered here.
I reckon he'll get a decent reception

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Brewster. Personally, for me, he’s been overly-criticised.

He’s been very unfortunate with injuries, which have hampered his career but we can’t blame him for that.

For depth, he’d have been smart to retain. Last year, he kept fit and he impressed in most of his appearances. He’s shown versatility, which is never a bad thing. It’s a shame.

We’ve just got to reinvest wisely over August. As well as be prepared for him scoring home & away against us! ⚔️

And 1 was the winner in front of the snortbeast's kop.

Sincere GLTTL from me.
That my Nan could have scored and she departed her mortal coils years back

Reading this thread and the Moore/ Mcburnie (really?) comments underlines just how desperate we are for a total reset and move on from the recent past.

Being linked with European teams & names and non British players is just refreshing.

And they were out there all along. Who'd have thought it?

GLTTL.

Didn't work out. Terrible waste of money. Injirys have fucked his time here.
