Can we pick up coady as well as brayford and a striker if we sell off Doyle and Mcginn (for a pittance obviously)?

Honestly haven't got a clue how much we actually have, FA cup run? Investment? £2m for maguire?

I think honestly with the cash in the bank we can land Messi but the question is can we tempt him? If not then I think we should turn our attentions to Ronaldo.

Brayford looks well happy at Cardiff.

Seems deep in thought, wondering if we've submitted our official bid yet

If wolves had spend £2m on a player of his quality last season, we'd have been wishing we could. If we can, we should. He's an amazing player at this level, and should be signed at any cost, if we can afford it.

Why should you care? I thought you were the top lad at Millwall? :)

If we have to pay 2M then so be it.

He was the talisman of the team last season.

Imagine if we could the Beard for 2M & Coady perm or on a loan whilst getting shut of McGinn & Doyle.

That would instantly free up squad space & get the fans right behind the team instantly.

Then its just the final piece. That striker.

It is not just the transfer fee. We would presumably also have to match his wages (£20,000 a week?) at least. This would add significantly to the cost and would blow a massive hole in our wage structure. Apart from Wolves last season teams promoted in the last 3 seasons have all had lesser wage bills than us. You don't necessarily have to have a massive wage bill to get promoted. I think there is no real prospect of us signing either the Beard or Coady except on some sort of loan arrangement which seems extremely unlikely. I hope I am wrong!

£2M for a fullback in the 3rd division? You aren't serious?

I don't think I've mentioned in before :) but the reality that we can't hit a bull's ass with a banjo indicates where £2M should be going.

Apologies. Who needs a striker after that high value example. And we scored one or two last season too. All sorted.

I just don't see why everyone is panicking about strikers, we'll get one, more than likely when the premiership announce their squads. Then we'll get someone not included more than likely on loan. Whatever happens signing wise I still think we're strong enough as a squad to challenge for promotion.

It has made the local news down here, but sadly it looks unlikely cos Solksjaer has let McNaughton go to Bolton on loan. Would thinks JB is first choice now :(

He's contracted at Cardiff until 2017, so if £20,000 is about right and we have to match that, and pay £2m transfer fee, he'll cost us £5,12m in total. Sounds like a gamble only fools would consider.

Yes, that's a deal I would not do in our situation. Too much money for one player.

Far better to keep hold of a younger player, under contract at a reasonable rate, who is our best defender and...oh.

I don't see why you attached that to a post of mine - no panic here just a perfectly sensible point that it's strikers where the money should be spent. I have no doubt Clough will be thinking this.

That said, if we start the season with no additions up front I rate our prospects differently to you.

You surely can't be serious by suggesting 4 goals against Dundee is relevant here?

Think the "if we can afford it" is the key line. Wolves made a loss of over £30m in 2013. We wouldn't have been wishing we could match that, would we?

Let's say we have a total of £2m to spend on players, we don't want to spend it all on one right back do we? I'm not even sure I'd want us to spend £2m on Kyle Naughton if he was available (unless we had a deal lined up to sell him for £4m)

Lets think about this for a second does anyone really think we are about to spend £2m on a player let alone a defender. £2m buys you the best striker in this division or maybe 2 so surely if he had £2m to spend which i don't think he has then he wouldn't spend it on one player. If we bring Freeman in which it looks like we are doing then we have more than enough defenders.

If we are in for Freeman it is safe to say Brayford is a non starter, just a name dropped to ease the fans pain of selling Harry. Typical McCabe trick

Brayford has been an 'ongoing enquiry' since the end of last season, he only keeps getting brought up because Radio Sheffield ask NC every time they speak to him. We may have bid for him but no-one has come out and said that the Maguire money will be spent on him to 'ease the fans'.

As you say, Allcock and Freeman in tells us all we need to know.
