I was told by someone,(not me) that it all depends on the strength of your wi fi, 5 mb download 1 mb upload or above. Download ookla app to find out. My friend also told me that the android box set that is loaded with kodi/ xbmc are the ones to go far. Find all these on eBay. Put in "android box set,"hundreds of them. I don't know why my friend was so tentative about said boxes, because they are not illegal or anything. But streaming anything you should be paying for ie, Sky sports, or bt, is. My friend is running this box in conjunction with SS and Bt so no conflict there. Unless of course he cancels the subscription channels. The ones he bought ( yes 2) were both around the £45 mark.

your wifi speed is an in house thing - ie the speed between your router and your devices over wireless. I'd say it was the speed of your main broadband connection that is the key. Also, to guarantee the best quality for video best not to use use wifi at all IMO, but go for wired ethernet. If you google stuff on HTPC (home theatre PC) I think that's the usual recommendation and most of those android boxes have an ethernet port I think. If your PC is not near your router those ethernet over the mains gadgets work a treat (I have a solwise PLV-200AV)
Edit: also you don't need an android box to use KODI, it can be installed on a Linux PC for certain , and on Windows also I believe

Your right about both w/ blade, slow buffering and crashing through wi fi, Ethernet no problem. Have heard can be installed through Xbox and the like as well, but I wouldn't have a clue.hence the pre- loaded jail broken android.

My friend has kodi, cough and told me sports devil streams live football in hd absolutely spot on connected to his £30 android box from Amazon that is connected to his router via Ethernet cable and he said using the Genesis app on said box streams hd movies superb. All pre installed on the box. I wouldn't know for certain though, cough as I am a good boy. Santa!!!

If you have got a satellite dish and have the coax cables running from them then i "might" ;) know how you can get the full sky/bt/ppv for £60 a year (the box is a one off £100 payment) allegedly

Not sure TBH, the item description said '24 month guarantee' so when "my friend" bought it, he thought it literally meant 24 month guarantee. Turns out it doesn't though and now "my friend" wishes he'd bought the one that said 'lifetime guarantee' for £150.

Good thing is that it doesn't use the internet to stream, it's worked perfectly to watch the Tyson Fury fight the other week on a 0.6MB connection. (Oh yeh, you can get Sky Sports Box Office too)

Gunna look into that one. Cheers.

£60 a year for a good reliable subscription without glitches (works just like sky+, you can record etc)
Be careful getting a cheap one that guarantees for so long as chances are their server will be overloaded and you will get loads of buffering/glitching

I had a "didn't read" gif lined up but it just comes up on here as a picture.
I bow to your superior sarcastic smart arseness and ask how I can add gifs too?
Get the link of the website it's from, and post it using the image function as normal.

The issue for Flawed appears to be miscommunication over the phone.

From reading his post it would appear that wires have been crossed and he's entered into a contract, the terms of which he didn't agree to...and then BT have decided to charge him cancellation fee's to get out of the contract he claims not to have agreed to in the first place...?

It's easy to be smug about these sort of things when they happen to other people but unless something goes wrong for you personally or you deal with contracts more often than most, you're probably not aware of the full range of exit fee's and penalties you could incur...as I said, the providers don't really highlight these fee's when flogging the stuff over the phone and they're usually buried away on a website or page 18 of the T&C's..if you receive a hard copy.

But hey, fuck em right?

Agree with the miscommunication bit totally but the Terms and Conditions bit I'm sorry but you and I know they are there. If you don't read them then you know that you are setting yourself up for a potential issue. Also companies are not allowed to enforce anything that is unreasonable in law.

My point was if you don't read terms and conditions you are setting yourself up for a fall. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. You can always challenge them if you think they are unfair. Or not take the product being offered.

Slug, are you Dreaming? ;) ;) ;)

not up on xbox (or any games consoles tbh) but xbmc was the original Xbox Media Centre that kodi is based on so I'd imagine it would work thru one of them as well. I checked out loads of stuff on HTPC and got very confused, thought the android boxes sounded great but such mixed reviews so if you've got summat that works that's great.

BT are a corporate, money eating machine, keep well clear of these parasites.

Where do you shop? Who supplies your energy? Who provides your Internet? Your clothes in fact your everything. Corporate money eating machines.

I work in one and so do most people. That's life, get over it.

BT are going to be in a lot of trouble in my opinion. Paid too much for a share of the footy. Setting up an additional paid for channel for it too seems a bit off when they've not even tried to tempt the people with the existing channel. There isn't enough going for them for such a huge outlay to be recouped.

I'd imagine viewing figures for most champions league are Shiite. ITV would get good figures because it's free. I certainly wouldn't subscribe to a channel for it. They've just further detached my interest.

All very interesting about everyone's mate with the alternative boxes. I was always very wary of them. I saw an Android box at a clients house that had certain apps on it for films and game of thrones etc. He loved it.

just to wade in. i can't see how BT can come on tv and say broadband for ten quid a month (or whatever).. how come mine is around 50??

sounds very reminiscent of ITV digital about 15 years ago, they paid loads out for Championship rights and viewing figures were really low, apparently in the hundreds for some games, so it didn't last long.

I remember reading they got less than 1,000 viewers when Blackburn played Wednesday in the League Cup one year.

I took out a subscription for about a year then managed to get out of the contract. Watched the Blades a couple of times on it. I remember one game I watched and summat seemed a bit odd, and it wasn't till half time when I realised there was sound (fans etc) but no commentary. Actually quite enjoyed it that way, which is how it usually is on Bladesplayer now.

I had huge problems with BT. Took out sports for our recent cup run. Then cancelled, so far so good. Then started receiving letters saying I owed money. This went on for months with them claiming I had never cancelled. Eventually they admitted I had cancelled, but it was an absolute farce trying to get it sorted. Needless to say they didn't get an extra penny out of me.

Virgin are wankers, they seem to think it's acceptable for you to take a holiday at work, sit in all day waiting for them and for them to then ring you at 5.30 and say they aren't going to get there so will need to re-book.

BT sport is shit, 15/20 pounds a month just to watch a few champions league games, get a grip.

The do have some great analysis though

Sky on the other hand in my experience have always been spot on.

I have a friend who has an amazon tv box, installed kodi and then purchased a 'build' which is easily installed and has all the links etc needed to stream all the sports, TV and films he could eat. This particularly website also issues a new build every 3 or 4 weeks which will have all the 'dead' links replaced with the latest top packages. As others have said, a decent broadband / fibre link is required and preferably a direct (ethernet) link between the box and the router. You don't even need an amazon box, this set up can also be run on any laptop device but obviously the quality may suffer if you're using wi-fi.

HD quality all the way................apparenty ;)

Sounds exactly like whay my mate has got. Not keen on the ones where you have to stream the channels myself.

Not read every post in this thread but I use sopcast and VLC player to watch Big Games - in Russian.

Tinternet says Acestream opens up a security vulnerability.

My ten year old policy now is that if a match is worth watching then its worth watching in a pub.

Supporting the great British pub, having a few proper pints and not feeling robbed is one way of avoiding the hassle of these large companies.

Plus Mrs P gets control of the remote whilst I'm out, for all that Downton, Poldark and celebrity master chef stuff she likes.

The only risk nowadays and how sad is this, is that United games often get bumped down for pointless Premiership games and worse, feckin rugby...

One more reason why we need to get up!

Down load the "live media" app. Put football in search, hey presto watch what ever you want.
