Brayford as a player is worth £1m in my opinion. However he is held in such high regard by our fans that it's worth another 500k on top of that for the feel-good factor his arrival would bring. I also think he might help shift a few hundred more season tickets and shirts. Anything more than £1.5m however is too high.

What, £1million? For the money some players are going for these days add to that can you name a better right back in the championship? of the top of my head i cant. He's worth more than the £2million we are 'said' to have offered

The problem might be that Cardiff's new manager will need him in the first team

From the happenings at Cardiff last year, I suspect Vincent Tan and Mehmet Dalman will be the ones making the decision on whether to accept our bid (if we have made one), and not OGS.

I couldn't care if he cost £4m, if we can get better players and Clough and board are willing to pay it then lets do it.

We've spent what, £100k on McNulty so far, if someone said we'd spend £2.1m on 9 players then we'd have taken that.

I find it amazing that people want us to get promotion but aren't willing to entertain the possibility of spending a decent amount of money on a quality player who we have all seen what he can do.

Because if we don't spend big money people can keep saying "where's the investment?"

I've seen what he can do. It's very good but, in my opinion, it isn't worth £2m and it certainly isn't worth £2m to a team in the Third tier.

We can't be paying at least double the market value for anyone, it's a gamble we can't afford.

Not against spending £2m on a player but it has to make more sense than on a right back who last moved for £1.5m and whose career has gone backwards since.

We wont even spend any money on a decent striker therefore I highly doubt we will spend £2million on a right back.

If we go up with Brayford in the side then £2m is good business in my view.

That outlay would be paid back instantly.

Why is it? I thought everybody agreed that we should push the boat out for this bloke. If we can get Brayford in with the Maguire money then that is a great bit of business. John Brayford is head and shoulders above what is in this division and if we have the chance to purchase him then we shouldn't think twice about doing so.

Look at it another way.

Maguire goes for £2m and with that money we could bring in Butler, Alcock, Mcgahey & Brayford. I think that is a fantastic bit of business.

As posted elsewhere, his 'cult' status has turned him into something he isn't. He's a great player, especially for this level but should we be spending £2M on any right back in our position ? £2M on a striker would be far more acceptable given what we would probably get for the money. Despite the backing we have, we still need to spend wisely, and in the right areas.

if we were side by side with Cardiff in the championship then no one would be saying a word about the fee, whats to say there isn't an add on if we go up??

Agree with this. Our priority is another striker, I thought we got Alcock as we couldn't get Brayford. Where would Alcock fit into our plans if we got Brayford? I'd love to have Brayford back of course but I don't see the logic.

Not really for OGS to say whether he stays or not. As Tan is the man calling the shots at Cardiff.

But we're not side by side with Cardiff, they have just come down from the Prem (with wages to match), and we are about to start our 4th season in the third tier. As people have said, they bought him for £1.5M and his career has gone downhill since then. A decent 20 games in League 1 shouldn't be adding 500K to what they paid for him. £1M plus add-ons would be worth it but £2M is well over the top.

I think we should sign JB, pay whatever it takes, announce he's going to be our new centre forward, then before the season starts we send him into Gaza to sort out this business between the Israelis and Hamas.

The messiah has arrived, complete with beard.

I do hope we can get Brayford back for a number of reasons

He'll give the whole club a lift. That's players, staff and fans alike

The fans, after many a season will actually have an icon to relate to again. An actual name that can go on the back of a shirt instead of a bunch of nobodies and loans that we've been made to suffer in recent years

Just as important though, is that he offers another dimension when attacking. Something we've considerably lacked when McMahon was at RB

This "£2million" should be spent on Coady, even if we have midfielders, he was instrumental in our revival last season, he got goals, assists, last ditch tackles, he is a brilliant box to box mid, is he realistically ever going to get into Liverpools Midfield?

Liverpool have already said he can go if the right offer is received.

1 million pounds!

If we'd swapped Maguire for Brayford + 500k I'd have been happy with that.
Breaking news on sky sports,Brayford has got sun stroke.

He's actually got a burn trying to iron on a Blades badge over the Cardiff one whilst still wearing the shirt.
Hospital staff are sending the resultant effort onto our marketing guru's for a possible 5th kit.

Footballers eh?

There's more value there than in football terms. Jim knows.

Also, he won't need replacing in the Champ*. Quite a few Derby fans say Freeman will.

*gamble worth taking IMO
