You obviously don’t know much about Boro. They are the worse finishers in the league.

They play an open attacking game and create plenty of chances every match but they let the opposition have chances too.
The story of the season for Boro is they really struggle to convert chances

They're the league top scorers in away fixtures.

You seem to take more notice of my posts than me?

Middlesborough play a completely different style to Portsmouth. There was no way you could press Portsmouth high up the pitch because they were just going to go long every time, not a criticism it was very effective. There would have been no point playing O'Hare as pressing is one of his great assets, so I completely get resting him. Middlesborough are a team who like to progress the ball through the thirds. Sunderland recently beat them by pressing. First of all high up the pitch, if Middlesborough got out, Sunderland dropped and pressed in the final third and then hit them on the break. Wilder should be looking at the video of that game and replicating those tactics. We have the players who can play this game.

Sorry but did you watch Portsmouth could have been 4 up at half time? I assure you Boro will put those chances away
No point watching it or going then. Let's not turn up, award them a 3 nil win, better than getting battered by 5 or so, and gives the players a rest. Close thread ✨

Well if you look at the stats:

Played 31

Clean sheets 17

goals per game conceded 0.7

Conceded 1goal 7 games

Conceded 2 goals 6 Games

Conceded 3 goals 1 Game

So on that basis clearly 5 - 0 thrashing up coming :)

2 observations

Choudhury and Souza can’t play together, too similar, Vini to burnout in 60mins then subbed for Choudhury

Clarke got ripped a new one by Murphy, against Boro I’d have the strongest defence in Gilchrist and use Clarke when we are on front foot or need to chase a goal

Burgzorg on Middlesborough's left wing is fast and tricky, similar play style to Murphy. I'd go with Gilchrist for this one.

Middlesborough haven't been impressive away from home. Lost to Portsmouth and Preston recently and drew to Plymouth. Won't be easy but it's a winnable game.

Portsmouth are shit away from home but schooled us yday

Only change I’d make from that team would be Peck in for either Choudhury or Souza. Those 2 playing together doesn’t work.
spot on those 2 certainly in home games shouldnt be starting as the midfield 2 either davies or peck have to come in dont think souza looks 100% so i would leave choudray in and bench vinny

Its Sky Main Match on TV so we are bound to lose.

Bad night for the bed wetters
What is the point of this post?

I'm sure the "bed wetters" could equally find plenty of times we've played badly and people posted "we'll batter these this weekend" and also post a sarcastic "I told you so" smug post when we didn't and played badly, or lost.

I'm not trying to have a personal pop at you, but I hate these pointless rub it in your face posts.

The "bed wetters" were concerned about the awful performances throughout the season and us grinding out undeserved wins against Derby and Portsmouth. They weren't wrong to be concerned and had more reason to be concerned about tonight. They're pessimism was based on what has actually been happening. Any optimism before tonight was based on nothing more than hope and blind faith, as there has been no evidence or hint that we've even been close to putting in a performance like that in weeks. So were the "bed wetters" wrong to be pessimistic about tonight? No. They had more realistic reason to be pessimistic than any unrealistic optimism based on nothing.

So let's not play the boost my ego game please and let us all enjoy the performance and the result and hope this is the start we've literally waited all season for and finally perhaps, we've finally clicked and we'll see more of these performances.
