Borbokis

I used to think he was the Beckham of The Championship (or Division 1 back then).

Very good in 352 but average in 442

Agreed - very skilful on the ball - needed freedom just like K Freeman to push forward. great freekicks (shame we don't have one now!) - really really enjoyed seeing him play - lovely footballer.

UTB

edit: and lets not forget Wayne Quinn on the other side - very decent pair of wing backs

Of the three Greek players we signed in a relatively short period, Trianos Dellas seemed a distant second in terms of overall ability to Borbokis, yet he went on to have a pretty stellar career, playing Champions League football for Roma and being an integral part of the 2004 Greece team that won the Euros.

As for George Donis.......I'm sure he was a very nice bloke.

Cost us the cup semi at OT against Newcastle by bottling it against Pearce.

One of my first idols at Bramall Lane. Must have only been about 9 at the time but absolutely adored the bloke. I was wondering the other night, was he as good as he was in my head or was it just my young infatuation ?
Same here. I was 7 when he came in and he immediately stood out. I suppose at that age, the flair players are the ones who get your interest. I've little recollection of Nicky Marker, for example.

I remember those goals he scored from free kicks outside the box, you just knew it was going to go in,
A master with dem freekick...... 👍

He was a great player at RWB average at RB... always looked like he never trained and his knees were about to give up ... didn’t stay long enough and got ruined at Derby

He and quinn were excellent wing backs but when cabbage head became manager he insisted on installing a back four. Neither were great defenders.

Vas was brilliant and we had a really good team in 1997/98 Vas , Paul McGrath, Jan agar, Dean Saunders and Deano . Howard Kendal was the manager , when that team was broken up it was like a stake going through my heart

Best two footed player Bert has seen for us.

I loved Borbokis, however do remember him missing a pen in front of the kop
