I think Keith trained with the England squad for the friendly International match against Austria on 20th October 1965

I was at the Northampton game, went on one of 6 SUT coaches, good following that day with a few more supporters club buses. We were on Northampton's kop, my mate got clipped round the head with a brass bugle.

Arsenal 6 (Baker 2, Armstrong 2, Skirton 2) Blades 2 (Reece, Jones)

Our first time on BBC Match of the Day. See over 40 minutes footage in below link. Dont think the ball crossed the line for Arsenal's fourth goal. David Munks fractured his ankle before half time but he tried to carry on playing for a few more minutes after half time! Debutant Frank Barlow came on as sub to replace Munks but he looked "frozen" when he had the chance to touch the ball for the first time and then Arsenal broke away for the 5th goal.

1966... I was 13 and catching a bus from the Hope Valley after school in Hope, and walking up to the Ball Inn ground for practice.

Then on the weekends, I would catch a bus from Bradwell and meet up with either the U18's for a game or for a Hatchard League game.

Those were the days I look back on and remember I was so happy to make the trip from the Hope Valley to Sheffield to be coached at SUFC.

I remember some awsome names: Micky Speight, Alan Hutchinson, Tom McAllister to name a few from that time period.

This is awesome Silent.

Hey Silent,

In your magnificent report archive, do you by chance have a small report from The Star or Daily Express regarding game I played in. I had the report many years ago but lost it.

It’s an FA Youth Cup game at Old Trafford around 1968.

Tom McAllister had taken my GK U18 spot but I had a knack for scoring goals as well so in this game I was put a center forward.

I assisted on our goal scored by Mickey Speight just before HT. We went in 1-0 up but got blasted in the second half and we lost 4-1.

Best night of my soccer life for a kid from the Hope Valley.

Cheers

Blades 2 (Jones 2) Everton 0

My Uncle Ronnie wrote in his book that this match was the first time he saw real violence in a football match.

yes 65 was more or less the start of it all silent read both ronnies books were both from the same era probably even stood with him behind the goal on the shoreham and plenty kicked off on the kop in those days when away fans always went on each others ends seen some unbelievable battles on the shoreham but apart from man utd and leeds 'once' only got the better of our lads wednesday brag to this day about how they 'took' the shoreham but that was only a county cup final when our lot didnt turn up as ronnie has stated in his book theyve bever come remotely close to getting anywhere near the middle of the shoreham in any league or proper cup games utb ftp ⚔️⚔️⚔️
