Souza and Anel are the ones we’d need to sell. Bogle getting £5m here or there wouldn’t make enough of a difference to count.
We know if someone meets our valuation in the last year of their contract, then they’re gone.

I think the deal is a little more than £5m

We are now more likely to go with a back 4 as plan A because Bogle was one of the biggest reasons to continue with wing backs

Might be in the minority but I’m not that fussed, great going forward but I’d sacrifice that for someone stronger defensively as I think we need that more based on last seasons goals against.

Champ is a complete different scenario, being offensive is what it's going to be about for fullbacks or wingbacks next season.

I'd say it's more likely he's told us he wants to leave so we're getting what we can for him. I like Bogle but he's not a defender and not a right back. If he doesn't want to be here then sell him and move on.
Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion
However yours is utter bollocks and shows a complete lack of knowledge
Not a defender or right back 😣
No offence

Fuck Bogle, wish him an injury plagued future
Shithouse
Wilder will have reluctantly sanctioned it
Hopefully he can now use the money we get for the cunt, and move quickly
The club is seemingly a bit of a shambles at the mo
Depressing

On the fence about It then?

Fair assessment of his play, but we’re not coming up against world class players every week, we will be on the front foot more so he will be an asset this season and then a liability if we get promoted

That said if he’s not in it, then let him go - we’ve shown we can attract good players already this window, so any of them not up for the fight can fuck off to the highest bidder

Big part of the worst defence in Premiership history. I’ve said it on here before all of that back four/ five from last season need upgrading. I’m sure this sale will frustrate Wilder as it’s unlikely the club planned for this one.

I can only remember the goal against Birmingham and the video of him demolishing porridge.

That's it.

He can't defend and is so therefore is no good as a right back. He's a decent attacker and therefore would be a shame to lose if we were playing with wing backs next season, which we seemingly aren't.

Please enlighten us with your opinion though seen as mine is such utter bollocks.

Just out of curiosity...

Considering the opposition we'll be facing this season (for example, Plymouth, the filth, Millwall, QPR, Preston, Portsmouth, Oxford, several others), how much defending are you expecting us to do in this league, that Bogle's perceived defensive frailties are such a concern?

Against a few teams, maybe he would struggle - Leeds, Middlesbrough, Burnley, perhaps 1 or 2 others - but against most of the Championship, I'd thoroughly expect us to be on the front foot, dominating possession and territory, in which case he wouldn't be doing any defending. If we play a back 3, the RCB is there to cover in case of a counter attack, and with a back 4, a defensive midfielder should do the same.

That said, I do think we could find a more "complete" right back, but that would only he necessary in my opinion if we got promoted again. But considering that would be at least 12 months away, I'd say that's plenty of time to scout out a potential candidate.

I very much hope that you are right, in respect of what we expect to face in the Championship next season. In fact I agree with you ( I’m expecting a top 6 finish), but I do worry that we might be underestimating the quality of the forthcoming opposition. A worry exacerbated by the fact that our defence was abysmal last season, and will probably still be very fragile mentally. I think I would rather see us being absolutely focused on shutting up shop at the back ( we obviously need additional signings for this). I think our quality in midfield and up front, based on who we already have, will give us what we need next season to cause damage to the opposition. What we don’t want to be doing is having to score two or three goals every game to secure three points.
If we do get promotion again, then we’ll be back to the place of needing a wholesale upgrade across the pitch.
I love Bogle as an attack-minded player, and he has a real eye for goal, but he is often missing in action when required in defence - last season ( albeit against a vastly superior quality of opposition to that which we might expect this time around) showed that up in spades. I’m not anxious to sell him, but if he wants to go, then trading him in for a very solid if less attacking right back in a back four would work for me.

Earlier in the thread he wished Bogle an injury plagued future, so I would suggest that if he thinks your opinion is a load of bollocks then it means that it isn’t, pretty definitively.

My Dad got a note through the letterbox today advising Sheffield United we’re giving him 1 pound for his original share.

I suppose they have to find that somehow.

I’m sure my Dad will be looking to utilise the 5 quid worth of petrol it takes to get there just to pick up his quid! 🤣

At end of day he wants to leave so what do we do keep someone who doesn’t want to be here? Shackleton and O’Hare have chosen us over Leeds this season so I certainly don’t think it’s a lack of ambition he’s made it clear he won’t sign a new deal. As it stands at the minute this squad we’ve got now would be challenging for promotion I don’t care what anyone says. We’re a goalkeeper away from top 2 id say. I’d still expect Souza and Anel to go and us to replace them but we will have a better squad than we started last season with that’s for sure.

I think we have a half decent squad with some standout players, but I think we are still short in a few areas, for genuine top 2 contenders. The counter to that is that we may have young players who are ready to step up.

For me however, we need experienced championship players in the following positions:
  • GK, absolutely no arguments there.
  • RCB, and make it 2 if Anel leaves.
  • RB, if Bogle goes and even then we will be relying on inexperienced backup
  • AM/Winger
  • Striker

If I was being greedy I would also say:
  • LB, unless Trusty, RND or one of the young lads can provide cover
  • CM, as I am not convinced that we have enough experienced depth, again assuming Souza leaves. It's basically Shackleton and Hamer (unless he is deployed further forward) and then our bright young things in Blaster and Brooks. The likes of Davies, Slimane and Peck may well do a decent job assuming they can stay fit. It just feels like we could do with one more in there who has played a season or two at this level.

Whilst I saw relatively little Championship football last season , indeed most of our defending was ‘league 2 ‘ at best, I reckon Jones @ Smoggies & Hulme @ Slumderland can lay claim to being ‘better’ R(W)B. Ng @ Cardiff seems decent n’all.
