If you had an iphone you could do it all on one phone ;)

I could, but then I'd have had an even worse signal, if the battery had still had any charge and would've been taking crappy phone photos instead of a proper camera :D

Still, I wouldn't have infringed any ridiculous Californian "patents".

But how else do you get to listen to the games as an exile/ expat?

This year will be the first time since the PL season where I won't be getting back as often for games (for non SUFC related reasons) and I was hoping that Blades Player etc would finally catch up to modern times - better quality, more up to date and perhaps even live games on Blades Player... but not a chance.

Seriously considering ditching Blades Player and SUFC SMS service completely - I can get more and better updates from Twitter and the net and as OS and Blades Player doesn't really work on the iPad/ Phone, it means that I struggle to get anything on there when i'm not with my laptop. I think I need to find something to do between 4-6 every sat.

I think i'll be mostly out on the bike when the game is on anyway.

You not heard of Solar chargers?

You not heard of Solar chargers?

I have, but I used to use them back in the days of poor phone batteries. Don't need one using a piece of decent tech :)

Lighter than two phones and a camera with no signal though ;)

I suppose you're driving one of those patent thieving Samsungs with their crap batteries too, so you'll probably need one

Regarding my second email complaint to BladesPlayer in a week, this time I emailed about the delay of up to 10 mins on the comms.

Here is the response from them. They didn't even bother to read my email
I'm sorry to hear that you have had problems with the live audio commentary. There are a number of potential issues which could prevent you from accessing the commentary:
It could be that another file stored in your computer's temporary file is conflicting with the Audio commentary, the best way to ensure this is not occuring is to delete your temporary internet files (select 'Tools' from your browser menu and then confirm 'delete temporary files'), you should also clear your computer's cache by pressing Ctrl and F5 together.

Another program may be using the sound device and preventing the Player from accessing it (Please note that if you have installed another media player it will probably have priority on sound issues unless you actively disable it). Close all other programs so that the Player is the only program running, and then try to play the file again.

The Player may be using a version of Microsoft DirectX that is incompatible with the hardware features on your sound device. (This may explain why you can hear sound when you use some software programs, but not when you use the Player.) Install the most current version of DirectX by going to the DirectX Web page:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx
The hardware acceleration may be set to too high.
To lower the video acceleration in Windows Media Player:
1. Click the Start button, click Programs or All Programs, then click Windows Media Player.
2. Click the Tools menu, then click Options....
Note: If the Tools menu is not visible, just double-click the title bar to maximize the window.

3. Click the Performance tab.
4. Under the Video Acceleration section, drag the slider bar to the middle.
5. Click the OK button.

Note: If this does not resolve the issue, try setting the Video Acceleration to None.
Please update your video driver. If you are unsure of how to do this, please contact your computer manufacturer for help.
If the above have not resolved the problem verify "mmsys.cpl" is functioning by double clicking on it in Drive:\WINNT\system32, if not it will need to be reinstalled from your System Disk.

Best Regards
Mina

So I replied and put sufc in copy.

For Info here is my reply:
Sorry, but your response is a generic response and lookig at it, you have failed to understand the problem. I have put SUFC in cc on this email because they need to see how poor your customer service is.

A couple of points:
1. Last week I had problems with the Commentary cutting out for large parts of the game. If you read my email below, its not the problem this week
2. The problem I have this week is related to the delay on commentary of nearly 10 minutes¨!
3. You have provided instructions for Microsoft Windows. I am a Mac user using Safari
4. I have discussed this of a Sheffield United Fans Forum and this problem is not just related to my computer. All listeners who have responded this week had the same issue

Nice. We've probably needed to do this sort of thing before (mentioning the forum, I mean). I rarely complain in cases like these because I know I'll be fobbed off, but if we all pitch in, we might actually see a proper response. Feel free to quote me if they ask about specifics (though I went to Cov and Colchester, so didn't use the Player, but I definitely had the same problems as everyone else for Shrewsbury and the cup game).

I've emailed Blades player through their contact form again. I will copy SUFC on their reply the Colchester goal was 7 mins behind the Blades Official SMS service, which in turn seemed like it was 1-2 mins behind the goal (based on Shoutbox groans) What a joke service

Can you get your mum to put her radio on and Skype the audio to you? :)

Still, I wouldn't have infringed any ridiculous Californian "patents".

I did laugh at the news last weekend when Samsung told reporters that it seems Apple have patented rectangles with roundy corners. Bitter, but funny. :)

She goes to the games, so she could set up a conference call with skype over sufc wifi and we could all dial in, then she could do the commentary...

Any update on this saga, Swiss? I have no commentary at the minute (having to use the Scunny feed) and others in the shoutbox are having the same issue, so it's not just me.

so by my reckoning, you'll get quite a surprise in about 14 minutes

Shocking service. Listened to the Scunny feed whole match, about 10 seconds behind SSN.

Only caught the 2nd half, but it was a full 10 mins behind by the looks of it, Blades SMS updates were 6 minutes before the comms on BladesPlayer

This was the response midweek from BladesPlayer.

Needless to say, I emailed them again.

I have sent a couple of emails off today, including a screencap of the shoutbox where everyone was having the same problem, and a link to this thread.

Also had to listen to the Scunthorpe commentators today, same for everybody else in Scandinavia, and also Holland and Ecuador, apparantly.

Vijeena - sounds like a cunt to me!

Blades player was crap today. Gave up trying to connect. What a waste of time and money. Pity there isn't another option for live radio commentary?

Will send an email and ask for this months money back.

I did leave it in, yes.

My second email was fobbed off with the following:

Thank you for your email.

The commentary has been checked and is working fine.

Please can you carry out the following instructions:

Firstly, can you please logout of the Player service and then re-enter the service.

Once you have signed back into the service please press CTRL + F5 on your keyboard to refresh any corrupted cookies that may be effecting your connection to the network.

If your problem continues do not hesitate to contact us again.

So I replied with:

If by "working fine", you mean "running ten minutes behind", then you
are correct. The Scunthorpe feed was eventually corrected, though I
did miss about 8 or 9 minutes of the second half. When you checked it
out, it may well have been working fine.

I have tried all that stuff that you suggest, and have tried it every
week. It doesn't change anything.

Look. At 3pm today, the Sheffield United feed was silence. At around
3.10pm, it kicked in as though the match was just kicking off (it
wasn't, it was ten minutes old, because my friends were tweeting
updates and I was following X-Scores.com).

I had to resort to listening to the Scunthorpe feed, from Radio
Humberside or whatever they are called. They were running pretty much
up with what was happening in real time. Are you seriously trying to
tell me that happens because of my cookies?

At the start of the second half, Sheffield United's feed was still
running ten minutes behind (they were doing interviews) and the
Scunthorpe feed played commentary of Forest Green's match for nearly
ten minutes. This is not because of my cookies. Please stop telling me
it's my problem, when it blatantly isn't.

See my attached screenshot for proof that others are getting the exact
same issue - this is NOT an issue with my computer and your arrogance
is disgusting. If you want any more proof, I suggest you read the
following thread:

The last email I got was simply:

Thank you for your email.

We can confirm that we are aware of the issue with delay in commentary you have raised and this is currently being investigated and will be resolved with our technical team.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Will it be fixed for the next game? I doubt it.

:-D

The club are aware of the situation so perhaps with all the emails to Bladeplayer RS and the club it will be seen to.My latest reply from the club.
I'm aware the previous email, sent from Scunthorpe in the middle of the post-match reaction, possibly made little sense to non-technical people, of which I include myself.
From the Club's point of view, we are aware that the service has not been provided sufficiently over the past three weeks and we are as frustrated as the fans that we are not being served properly through this Football League deal.
Please be assured we will do everything without our power to ensure that normal service is resumed as soon as possible.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

In all fairness I think the only way you'll get them to take note is for a fair few people cancel their memberships on the phone and specifically give them reasons why. Hit them where it hurts.

Received this email today,

Following on from last week's problems, please be assured that we have been in contact with the Football League on a number of occasions and I'd just like to update you that the following message has been received from the Football League and we will publish on our SUFC website within the next 24 hours.

BLADES PLAYER UPDATE

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience experienced with accessing Blades Player this season. We realise that there’s been a delay in our matchday commentary and we’ve been working with our service provider to repair this as a matter of priority. Due to the complexity of the audio streaming process, it has unfortunately taken a couple of weeks to identify the root of the problem and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period. However, our service provider is confident that they have now found the cause of the issue and a fix has been put in place ahead of our next match.

As an apology for the recent delays, we are crediting annual Blades Player subscribers with a free month’s access to the service, which will be added to the end of your subscription period.

Thanks for the update (I didn't get the email).... Last Saturday was the first time I had used blades player this season and I was baffled by the time delay, hopefully all ok for tomorrow.

Also haven't received this email.

blades player gave assurances before, apparently there wasn't a problem, it was my Windows pc (even though I use a mac)

We'll see tomorrow. If it ain't right tomorrow I'm cancelling
