Looked very good second half, enjoyed the game tbh despite the first half showing but thought the end to the game was decent. Shame about the result.

So the new lads looked good, we didn't lose in normal time, and we don't have to watch any more of this tin pot trophy?

I'm not displeased.

Much much better. They hardly troubled us at all in the second half.

Just didn't put the chances away.

It'll be interesting to read Roy's view from, if there's any that don't say we battered them they're on crack.

Oh well. Concentrate on the league now.

Lol, not sure about that. They should have had the pen, hit the crossbar and had that scramble in 6 yard box

In the second half? We were dodgy in the first but I thought we were in control in the second and had loads of chances. We hit the bar too, and had a couple cleared off the line.

Maintain we looked far more likely second half. If only we could hit the target.

Main thing I'm pissed off about is that we only got going in the second half against a Hull team who made 9 changes! That's not impressive but we never seem to do our best in the League Cup in recent seasons, and hopefully we put Norwich to the sword on Saturday. Great that Billy is in form

We need to hit the ground running in games rather than giving teams a goal start and if we do that v Norwich on Saturday we know what they'll do and it'll be a frustrating game with them sticking 10 men behind the ball and wasting time.

I’m sure he’ll be absolutely fine.
I hope you’re right?. Not too bothered about the result tonight but the 2 worrying things for me are
1 Clarke. He’s missing too many chances and making terrible decisions when it’s easier to score!!.
2 I know we’re only 4 games into the new season but in each of those games we’ve had a terrible 1st half in 3 of them and ended up chasing the game!!.
I don’t know what the answer is but we need to start games better?.
Positive note to end: the new signings look good!!. UTB

And last season we were famous for starting many matches quickly on the front foot.
Our immediate tempo and positivity took many teams by surprise.

Although I agree, that this cup is irrelevant until the quarter-final stage.

Norwood was fucking brilliant all night and hit it off with Fleck as soon as he came on. If he plays like that, him, Fleck and Coutts look perfect for each other.

Can't judge on one game but Woodburn didn't look like owt, Egan could've had a hattrick from corners, we battered 'em and should've scored 8 but they missed sitters n'all.

Good fun, don't give a shite that we're out, and seen Jack O'Connell and Bash take pens, can't fault it

Ollie was absolute class. Lunny and Stevens were absolute garbage - except Stevens had the best shot of the match! Woodburn was disappointingly uninspiring and Leon’s confidence has completely gone - but boy does Billy know where the goal is. Bash’s energy made a big difference when he came on. This season could go either way.

More Magic Required!

Thought we were better than we were against Swansea in the first half, and much much better in the second half. Disappointing to lose on penalties but I'm on my way home with renewed hope personally.

Don't think Lundstram was that bad either to be honest, missed with his shot but he was in good company. Leon can't hit a barn door with a banjo at the moment so any criticism there is fair enough, it was almost comical at times.

I hope he didn't take a pen because Wilder couldn't be arsed with the cup, having your CBs take them suggests that tbh.

Moore was poor in the 90 and the shootout for me. Should have done better for their goal and was nowhere near saving a pen.

Agree with most of that, apart from the Woodburn bit. Thought the lad showed glimpses of what's to come. He seemed a little nervous and a bit over keen to impress, but once he learns to play it simple I reckon he'll grow in confidence and be a real player for us.

Really not sure what Wilder was hoping to achieve with that lineup. It's a Mickey Mouse cup and as such I couldn't care about losing, but what have we done apart from giving Leonard some minutes? We're just exposing Freeman and Duffy needlessly, why we're rushing Norwood into a meaningless game I have no idea, the subs all just seemed to be bringing in the players we've rotated out anyway. Either make wholescale changes and try to learn something or play your first eleven, don't just sub the keeper out, make some small changes but then play amongst the same 14-15 outfield players that you're going to play every game

Woodburn has much improvement to do if he is gonna cut it at Liverpool.

We have seen a fair bit of him now. Unimpressed. First touch not great. A real tell tale sign of good teckers.

Norwood neat and tidy. Most likely an upgrade on Evans. Which I guess was the whole idea !

Clarke. Improved 2nd half. That’s all that can be said I’m afraid !

Good overall team performance and should have really been out of sight b4 pens kicked in.

Not at all fussed about exiting this competition. I would assume Wilder, in the cold light of day, will probably feel the same.

Hull fielded a very young side, 9 changes, we should have won this. Allthough I don't care much about this cup, I'd expect a better first half with a lot more experienced players than them. Goal against yet again a counter and acres of space to counter in. The way we play, we'll be exposed to this again.

We are out of the wankest cup competition in the world and deserved to win. Job done.
Did you think that in 2015 when we played Spurs in the semi finals. I want to see is in a cup final one day, sadly that's one down for this season.

We have seen a fair bit of Woodburn? Really?? Did you go tonight? Did you see some of his first touches on the half turn?
