Me? Born in Fulham.
Mentioned this once or twice before, but the trajectory of my passion for the Blades began in the late 1960's. My dad brought me up to support Fulham, then a middling Div 1 team. But it was one of United's visits to Craven Cottage that drew me in, stole my heart, and from there, well there was no turning back. I lived in the wilderness for many years, including an enjoyable time in New York, but I could never have imagined that I'd eventually come to live in Sheffield, and now just a few minutes walk from the ground. Unfortunately severe leg injuries get in the way of attending games as often as I'd like, but I'm a dedicated Forum poster, and the dedication of young Foxy and Linz to making all of this possible is quite staggering considering just how smoothly this place works and the connection it allows for Blades to chat, agree, or disagree. In short we're no different to any other set of supporters. We're a cross-spectrum of the world at large, on the whole good-natured and good-hearted. We're also a funny bunch, a vital ingredient in supporting a club whose fortunes have dipped more than I'd like in recent years.
We've a great ground, when it's rocking there's nowhere better, the emotion swells, the desire to succeed rises, and.......well at the moment we've finally found a manager who shares the United bug. Not that it matters, I'd take anyone as manager as long as they knew what they were doing, but it feels like we're moving forward. I'm a pragmatist, one step at a time, but the emotional investment that Chris Wilder has put into this club has allowed all of us to finally believe that we might, just this once, get promoted and play against teams this ground, this team, and this club were meant to play against. We're on the up at last, I will attend a game soon, promise UTMB!
