So back in away action again with the relatively short trip to Blackburn. An extremely tough place to go to get three points though much of Blackburn's home run was made in league 1. They've however only lost once in the league so far this season so bring it on....

So...

Any team news? :)

Wilder likely to make changes?

Perhaps Saturday is the more winnable game?

Can't we just win both?

Really asking a lot to go to Blackburn and end their 25 or whatever game it is home run without defeat. However we've done it before and if we can cut the silly errors out we could just do it again. A draw seems most likely and would be a solid result. However I think we'll be error prone again with the goals scored rescuing us in another 3-2 victory :)

As ever safe journey all

Changes muted.

As long as they don’t weaken us too much, I’m on board.

Woodburn would.

Clarke would.

Coutts would not :)

Wilder will change something about the team . Personally i would leave it be but i suspect Chris will again be using the squad. He's the boss so whatever he does he does it in the best interest of the club and we should fully support him. Same team and a win is possible. Making a few changes would make me think a draw at best.

Which beggars the question why ?

It’s a tricky one. Squad balance / Harmony / Energy levels etc. Vs “don’t change a winning team”.

Hope he gets it right !

Got a good feeling about tonight, where as I didn't about the Brum or Millwall games.

Nailed on loss then :)

toughie tonight, but we are playing well, think it will be a draw, 1-1 for me and Clarke to break his duck

I hope and pray that Wilders mutterings about changing the team is purely kidology. I know it’s a well worn phrase, but the most important game should always be the next game. Just think how much more relaxed we would be for Saturdays game, if we already had 3 points in the bag from midweek.
With Leeds and Boro winning and WBA playing that shower o shite. We need to keep on their coattails and make it a breakaway 4 and not a breakaway 3.
Please don’t change a fit, winning team.

If we change the team it should be picked entirely on names that fit to the tune of Baby Shark, which the Blades fans must keep going for the entire 90 minutes. Any players with four syllables or more get rested for not fitting the tune (Fleck and Coutts sneak in if you elongate their first names), the formation would be a complete shambles though

Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke
Mark Duffy, John Fleck, Paul Coutts, John Lundstram, Ben Woodburn
John Egan, Chris Basham, George Baldock
Simon Moore

Alternatively, don't twat about with a winning formula and go unchanged.

Why does EVERY manager in the English leagues rest players and use their squads.

Answer:
The medical experts backed up with computer data show that high intensity football, which is becoming more common with this trend of high pressing when out of possession, takes a lot of energy out of the players. All players are individual, some need a longer rest then others, especially the older ones.

Of course the players are fit enough to play a match every single day. It’s not the rest to play matches.
It’s the rest needed to recouperate to 100% energy levels, so they can perform at their best.

So the real question is do we play Sharp, Duffy and McGoldrick tonight knowing that their energy levels are 80%.
So if these 3 do play tonight it’s more likely that they’ll have an off night, which could lower their confidence.
And also the risk of muscle injury increases from say 5% to 10%?

Or do we put in replacements who aren’t as good but will have 100% energy levels and playing will improve the squad morale.
Then the 3 returning in form players (mentioned above) can play on Saturday at 100% energy levels with less chance of injury?

I believe Wilder has hinted on what he’ll do tonight in his recent interviews.
He’s already admitted that he probably made a mistake in the Birmingham match by making too many changes.
He also said last night that he feels he must consider changes to refresh the players and he can’t wait for the international break.

Suspect there will be changes but not many.
In recent matches a key to our success has been the form of our wingbacks, Freeman and Stevens.
We missed them both badly against Birmingham because Baldock isn’t as good at crossing and Johnson struggled to adapt to his new team mates.

So I suspect he’ll rest either Freeman or Stevens but not both.
Reckon he’ll play Freeman and Johnson and save Stevens for Saturday, especially as Stevens will be on international duty.

Sharp and McGoldrick are both in top form but they are both relatively old, work so hard and deseve some rest.
Reckon he’ll rest one of them and start with Clarke.

The main decision for me relates to midfield. It relates to resting Duffy who is in top form
And whether we bring in the more defensive Lundstrum.
We’re away from home, so would normally choose Lundstrum over Duffy in these cirumstances but we have a terrible record when Lundstrum starts. It’s possible that Wilder might start with Duffy and give him 60 minutes, then replace him with Lundstrum.

We'll have none of that sensible nonsense here laddy. Bloody new fangled lah-di-dah computers, percentiles of chuffing likelihood of bloody muscle pulls? It's bloody football not livestock husbandry. Pie for tea, pint at half time, 30 minutes of latent homosexuality in brown water wi' lads at full time and back home for a bit of how's your father. Up early for the munitions factory tomorrow.

Coutts on for the last 20min anyone.......?

Had a feeling it was going to be unchanged after hearing his interview earlier. He sort of said he should be making changes, cos of the wednesday night thing, but he didn't sound convinced or convincing about it himself.

I do agree it is a bit of a disadvantage when a team that's played wednesday pays a team on saturday that played tuesday - the saturday fixtures should be taking account of this, or sky red button should be told to fuck off and play them all on tuesday, but I know it in't going to happen.
