Cup action for Tuesday night and the return of Steve Bruce to Bramall Lane.

Will we be playing the reserves? Is anyone really bothered about the Cup this season?

On-topic discussion of the match and the MOTM poll :)

I think we will see our current reserve A team with perhaps a few of our bench warmers.

I think our Reserve A team are good enough to compete in the Championship! :D

Hopefully the masses will see more of what we've seen of Nade so far.

EDIT: Pre-match drinks in the Lion as usual for all those interested :D

Think I might pop-along to this little feller if I get out of work in time.

I look forward to seeing young Quinny and Law again showing their potential, and I think Birmingham will prove a good test for them. Nade was a bag of tricks last time and scored such a cracking goal.

Ol' Bent nose will probably in for a night of stick from our fans. :D

What? Even those who never went to the Lane while he was in charge?

Team picked from this Squad

Sheffield United (from): Bennett, Kenny, Unsworth, Davis, Morgan, Short, Sommeil, Armstrong, Leigertwood, Kozluk, Jagielka, Ifill, Gillespie, A Quinn, Akinbiyi, Nade, Webber, Kabba, Kazim-Richards, Montgomery, Law, Geary, Li Tie.

I'd go for the Bold ones starting tonight :)

Li Tie should play tonight and also apparently everyone is fit.

Should be a good opportunity to see the fringe players, i wonder if the likes of Ifill and Akinbiyi will put in the extra effort needed to bring themselves back into contention...should be a good measure of their desire.

Well it sounds like Bruce will be making some changes to his Brum squad in an effort to concentrate on the league but from what I've seen of our reserves so far this season, they all deserve a game.

Nade, Geary, Kozluk, Short and the younger lads in Travis, Horwood, Starosta, Gyaki and S.Quinn (if he's back in training) have all done enough in the background to justify their names being in contention for a game like this.

Welcome to the forum anyway Jodman :)

Completely forgot about the game until I heard Football Heaven last night, so no ten quid ticket for me. Never mind, at least I will be able to sit somewhere else for a change.

Like shorehamview, this match might have slipped a lot of people's minds.

Anyone dare to estimate the attendance as Birmingham have sold half their 3000 allocation (which in case you can't subtract, makes 1500)?

you actually do division to a half linz lol

Not if you already know that half of 3000 makes 1500... in which case you subtract 1500 from 3000 :)

Short was flipping awful got beaten for pace so much and the same with morgan aswell. Decent performances tonight from Sommeil, Webber, Bennett and Kabba. Although tonights game was end to end stuff though mainly due to both teams defence's playing poor. Ifill Short Morgan Unsworth all had pretty shocking games. Anyway crap game but its good to get out the cups early we dont need more fixtures really.

Sorry mate but which game were you at? Sommeil and webber having good games and Ifill having a shocker?

Ifill, Monty, Kabba and Law were our only good performers.

I'd rather just forget about tonight's result even though such a scoreline feels painful no matter what competition, Birmingham got lucky from extreme sloppy defending, but who cares? It's only the crappy Carling Cup which is about as prestigious as a banana, let the Brummie gits and Bent nose have their bottle, watching their awful Championship style football makes me feel lucky that we are not in that fizzy pop league now.

Still a cracking goal from Monty. :D

I think i'd just leave it at Monty. Only one for me who really performed.

Law was the unlucky one really let down by most of his team mates.

I don't think he had a good game by the standards he's set.

Ifill WTF ? he was poor very poor aprt from the odd bit of skill now and then.

Sommeil did the better of the defenders not much he could do when morgan and short were getting beaten for pace.

Ah well crappy cup game would of been good if we had got one over big nose. lol

I agree that Ifill was rubbish, he was worse in the first half than the second.
Short & Morgan were big letdowns.
And even though he scored I wouldn't let Akinbiyi anywhere near the first team, ever!

Birmingham MOTM Thread

Seeing as there's some debate, this should be an interesting one.

Who was your MOTM last night?

None of em really ive just gone for kabba. Monty was alright got a good goal but no one really stood out alot.

You mean that fizzy pop league we couldnt get out of for 13 years?

We are not much better than brum. How worrying is that?

You mean our Premier League Reserve North Team (plus additions) aren't much better than Birmingham?

Yea but some of the team we put out would be 1st teamers if we had an injury and they got out done by a mid table fizzy pop team. So its abit worrying yes although would be more worrying if it had been our 1st team that lost.
