Billy's contract

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread but most of us on here piss ourselves at Wendy paying Hooper, Fletcher, Foresteri, Rhodes salaries reckoned to be 25-30k per annum. We then slag them for paying Boyd 30k per week.

We rightly would prefer to have Billy up front than Rhodes, we rightly would prefer to have Fleck in the team than say Boyd. So if you were Billy or Fleck and saw these other jokers earning triple and possibly more than you you'd want a pay rise wouldn't you ?

We've got all our squad on first division salaries with the possible exception of Billy. Some of them are going to be wanting upper level championship salaries and we are going to have to deal with this.

All the players you mention have dropped down from the Premier league,so of course their wages are higher,Rhodes, and this is according to an ex Wednesday player who lets say,is a safe bet, told me that Rhodes is on 50k a week,Fletcher 42k,if any of our players want wages like that, then they are not going to be playing for United

Dear me. I went on holiday two weeks ago and everything in the S2 garden was rosey.

Now catching up on threads and it seems like many on here are viewing the upcoming season like an approaching apocalypse.

I hope this is silly season madness.

It's like this 52 weeks x's year.....

Agreed, but it's reasonable to assume that our better ones like Fleck and Sharp are going to want to be earning championship wages. Whether we like it or not the board is going to have to stump up more money otherwise we will lose players.

I hope we are not going to be paying silly wages, rather lose a player than be paying him over 40k a week,we have been down that particular road once, never again i hope

Sometimes better to incentivise players, yeah you can have your 2 k a week extra if we stay up and we'll back date it to the start of the season.

My bad. Please resume meltdown :D

I also miss E89 and his fun cryptic clues. Only poster who ever seemed to genuinely know his onions. Stopped posting due to people hurling abuse at him for no reason. Go figure.

I miss cryptic clues. I knew about DCL and posted something cryptic only to get accused of being a pig. You learn your lessons.

Billy took a 50% pay cut to join United. An ITK (at the time) by the name of NoPigFansInTown, put that fact on this board a long time ago. It was subsequently confirmed on a "Sheffield Live" discussion with Alan Biggs. Why could Billy be upset? Well, I imagine his long term contract offer wasn't what he was looking for. How much would you pay Billy, and what length of contract would you give him? Remember ,we already have him contracted for another season, and he's 31 now.The guy has already achieved modern day hero status.

It's quite simple really. I'm not convinced he'll get 20 at this level. I'd be more inclined to offer him a deal either subject to his performance this season or on lower wages with higher incentives. The problem is that incentivising doesn't always work. You don't want an (even) greedier player in terms of making wrong decisions.

His fitness seems good but his pace isn't getting any better.

The 3rd way is to offer him lower wages but a coaching role.

We simply don't know where we'll be. We already have one old striker on a (too) long contract.

Much probably depends on the conversation he had when he signed and took the pay cut. I can see him being unhappy if other players are coming in on bigger wages, given he took a hit to join us.

I have a bit of intel on this also.

"Where u erd dis pal" ? Can't say but this is what I heard.

Billy (and also Coutts and Basham) had a "gentleman's" agreement that wages would go up on promotion to the Championship. They would go up to the level they where previously on at their respective Championship clubs prior to joining the Blades. Substantial increases in all cases.

The club have not kept their "gentlemans" agreement and they are all about £2k per week light.

So I suspect SunJi ain't bullshitting in this case.

UTB

If the club is simply refusing to honour this, then it's a potentially big problem. They should at least look for a compromise. Whether that's through incentives or meeting them half-way.

Gentlemen's agreements mean nothing in real life but they're still usually honoured in football. It's about trust.

Haven't we been there before though with James Beattie. I'm sure there was a clause in his contract that we would pay him a backdated lump sum either if we got promoted or he stayed beyond a certain date. So we sold him just in case we didn't go up, conveniently overlooking the likelihood that we wouldn't go up anyway if we sold him, which proved to be the case.

8 out of 12 = 66% correct

He's without doubt ITK. He posted team sheets before they were submitted to the ref! He also posted at least one shock team sheet, both in terms of players and formation.

Morsy was basically a done deal until Wigan popped up. I believe Grant was similar but then hit a glitch.

Even a manager is never certain that someone is signing until they actually sign.

He said Grant had signed. Not was signing. He also said we would appoint a DOF alongside Wilder.

But what is his purpose? All it does is bring out confidential information into the public domain which has the capacity to cause distrust and destabilisation in the club and disunity amongst the fanbase. What is the point?

Why would an agent advise a player to accept a GA rather than have it written into their contract?

You'll have to ask him/her that.

I kicked off when he posted team sheets early as it could have been detrimental

Well, presumably he works at the club, or knows someone who does, but not in and around the first team. Probably told that. Doesn't mean it had actually happened.

Eh? He said it had. In an ITK claim.

The naming of the team stopped quite suddenly though. Someone clamped down

It wouldn't surprise me if some of this information is intentionally leaked by the club to get the fans on side in certain circumstances.

In this case if Billy leaves, it can be said that we tried our best to keep him but he wanted too much money for example.

And the team sheets?

And the team sheets?

That's why I said some of the information, the team sheets were a strange one to explain.

Best I can come up with is that the club saw the writing was on the wall with Adkins and it was an attempt to undermine him. Maybe get him to quit?

But that's just me speculating, maybe the information comes out simply because someone has a big gob? Who knows!

Yes, coaching is of no importance. Such jobs should be used as throwaway makeweights to give Bladey favourites a job for life. Who cares whether they have any aptitude for the job? Doesn't matter. It'll be fine. We know it worked really well with Owd Muckanettles Nowt-Fancy.

Givimajob. Givemallajob.

With Sharp it also fits Bladey Bladeness, so that's two boxes ticked. GIVEHIMAGO
