That's a fair assessment. Ironically he was regarded as an innovator (along with Knill) when we got things cooking with the overlapping CBs, even though I am sure Cotterill did the same with Brizzle a few seasons before, but it's true that he can be very rigid when plan A isn't working.
I do think he can, and does set up a team well. But I've always thought he leans in to his players carrying out his initial instructions, but better as his change up

I don’t think so to be honest, the last 2 games we’ve beaten Brum (shit away and down to 10 men) - should win and won easily.

Gone to Wrexham which will be a tricky place for every team - put it a great shift until 60 ish minutes then got bullied and lost.

Both those games highlight for me why we won’t go down and won’t make the play offs

You really think we put a shift in for 60 minutes or is that satire?
it wasn’t the opinion of those sat stood around me

I think 7 of the starting eleven v Wrexham have played in the Premier League. We should not be anywhere near a relegation scrap and bottling matches. Why are we so unfit.....

Edit, I think 6 Wrexham players have to, which suprised me.

We were never out of it. That blip in results put us ahead of the pack but only the complete fantasists thought anything higher than mid table was possible.

The counter point is that we were never in it, our low league position was and remains completely false, and that every time we don't get three points does not give the glass half empty segment permission to exaggerated their thoughts of doom. Heck, probably exactly the same people that thought we would go down last year

We'll have to agree to disagree on the assessment of the performance.
Nowhere near as bad as West Brom imo. Wrexham played well, we played well first half and got over ran in the second. Disappointing, shows where we are mentally and physically. They didn't stop trying.
It's true that certain posters can't wait to stick the boot in, and some of the comments have been unreasonable, but I also think a lot of reasonable posters (which I would like to think includes me) are royally chuffed off with what was served up in that 2nd half and it is legitimate to ask questions.

I am firmly Wilder in, but he needs to change things more quickly when the team is struggling.
Yes, a lot of reasonable posters are unhappy with the performance and it is legitimate to ask questions. I just wish the questions were about the game itself, not the same boring guff about Wilder every time

Since the dawning of codified football and meritocracies therein. The League Tables tell you how good you are in relation to your fellow combatants.

Despite many efforts to dilute, twist, subjugate etc this remains the one true barometer of your status within your allocated grouping.

We are , no ifs, no buts, no ah well its not our fault that, 19 out of 24. Choose your preferred underlying trend if you will but the reality is that, this 100 odd year old thing remains the only true barometer.

Was a guess really, I had the match on but we had people round so wasn’t intently watching. Perhaps just 1st half.

I think this present situation that we find ourselves in will be the norm for a while.

Whilst being firmly in the 'Wilder out' camp, what I would say is that he's probably the best manager we could hope for under the present 'clueless' ownership and managerial set up.

If we had owners that knew anything about football we could hope for a better CEO with infinitely better football club understanding and management skills. He would then appoint an experienced, well-regarded Director of Football with a football philosophy and future plan. He, in turn, would then appoint a suitable Manager, who was focussed and talented enough to deliver the said philosophy, and a recruitment team who knew how to identify the players needed to execute the plan over the course of a season on the field.

In short, we are fucked whilst ever we are stuck with these morons in charge and Wilder, in spite of his many on-field and off-field faults, is about as good as we could hope for as manager whilst ever the club is totally rudderless and completely reliant on a 'jobs for the boys' senior management and recruitment structure.

The message might start to hit home next season when many ST holders choose not to renew and refuse to pay any 'walk up' prices. We'll see.
