Weird how fans that have regularly chanted about our players being written off as 'journeymen' (only to then watch them succeed), can them write off the very same players with so little respect.

Do people not remember where we were? We have a tiny wage bill for the league we are in and have recently been in league 1. Given that, we will obviously be carrying some players that aren't top half PL standard. Where this entitlement has come from I don't know, but all this top 10 talk is just embarrassing. Top 10 is a miracle for this club atm, not what we should expect.
Agree with all that but c£240 million banked for two seasons in the PL - I’d like to think we might spend a few quid on some serious players to keep us there

If he knows it doesn't work why did he consistently try it after January last season? Even when every striker was fit?

Bit of a weird thing to say 'I imagine everyone was sucking off when he scored' - yes, no ones going to be gutted about that are they?

Billy hasn't been good enough for the Prem since we got promoted. Certainly not in the style we play anyway. We ask too much of our strikers for them just to be good at putting the ball in the back of the net. Need much more qualities than just that.

Chabuddy G you are simply wrong my friend and twisting history.

Wilder wasn’t “trying” it. Again he was forced.

In reverse order to the 1st of January; Billy started the following games:

(A) Southampton - lost - 3-1
(H) wolves - won - 1-0
(A) Newcastle - lost - 3-0
(H) Norwich - Won - 1-0 (Billy scored)
(A) Aston villa - Draw - 0-0 (Ghost Goal!)
(H) Brighton - Draw - 1-1
(H) Bournemouth- Won - 2-1 (Billy Scored)
(A) Palace - Won - 1-0
(H) Man City - lost - 1-0

Billy Sharp Started 9 games out of a possible 18:

Stats:
Won: 4
Draw: 2
Lost: 3

Goals: 2

Even as back up striker (which is obviously what he is, them stats are ok IMO)

But here is the catch:

EVERY single game Billy Sharp started Mcgoldrick WAS NOT ON THE BENCH*

*baring bournmouth at home - Mcgoldrick had just retuned from Injury!

TLDR: Wilder knows Sharp is not No1 (or even No2) striker, trust me he knows!! The only argument people may now use is that Billy is obviously number 3 and maybe Mousset should be. Again, Ill stick with Wilders tactics of using Lys for the 30mins (that he can manage) at the end of a game when defenders legs are tired.

Not looking for arguments but my god have some faith in Wilder, if we can all see what we need, he certainly can! The last thing us supporters should be doing is saying Billy isn’t good enough. He is the best cover we will get, thats for certain.

Prince needs most of that to pay off McCabe. Hope it doen't cost us, finishing 9th last season (an unlucky 9th) should have been a green light to spend bigger than we have done so far to take us forward.

FuK you all Sharp-haters. A character to pay some deep money to be involved with the team. Shoud he start in PL games this season? Probably not, but at least he is a forward. Would you rather have Egan taking the place? McBurnie is s*ite, what ever the ... keep telling each other. Nor do we have any other decent strikers, as it never occured to Wilder that having scored so few goals last season, we might actually need some strike-force. In the circumstances Billy is as good as it gets (after McGoldrick, once he gets fit.)

Its vodka o'clock in west Siberia

Whoever it is we have up front its the same issue lack of service, so I cannot fault Billy.

At 1 point McG came almost to our penalty box to collect the ball!
At another point he was in the right back position trying to cross it

I agree with that but with the way we play we cannot have a goalscorer upfront who has no attributes to contribute anything else meaningful to the team at this level (pace, height, link up ability, hold up play, strength).
Billy could score goals at this level because he’s someone who gets in the right positions and will never shy away from that, but our team demands so much more from our strikers and I’m sorry but Billy isn’t up to the task.

'no attributes' - such an embarrassing exaggeration.

Your list of examples of having no attributes are all wrong except height - yes he isn't really tall.

pace - not constant, but yes in bursts and surprisingly so for his age
link up ability - yes
hold up play - yes
strength - yes

But what a disappointment, if only he was well over 6 feet tall.

"In the Premier League"

So you think all of the attributes you've listed, Billy is effective at in the Premier League?
Link up play, really?
I don't think its as black and white as you state.

Of course he isn't the best striker in the PL, but it just isn't true to say he has 'no attributes'.

Does he have zero ability to provide any link up play as you state? - no that isn't the case.

Neither is he the best at it in the PL currently.

He deserves more respect than your sweeping generalised statement that he has 'no attributes'.

If you can't concede that then we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Is he good enough to have an effect at this level with good link up play? Not really no. He wouldn't get a start for any other PL side.

Is saying that a player, legend or otherwise, isn't good enough for a certain level really disrespectful or are you just incredibly soft?

Chabuddy G given you plenty of facts there pal, Wilder has only played Sharp when McGoldrick is out of the squad. Your moaning for the sake of moaning.

If Billy wasn’t in the squad last season. We would have been using a Mousset who cant manage 90mins and Zivkovic.

Bump 😂

We just need to make sure we get more penalties than the other team score and we'll be safe this season

Is that 100 league goals for us or 99?

Play himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
