Billy Sharp

We should have all bet on him for a hat trick today, thinking about it. Because...

1. He would've wanted to respond to being dropped in midweek
2. He will have wanted to make absolutely sure he's in the team v Wednesday
3. Wigan are poor defensively

I could strangle Billy.Miss the match and he scores a hat trick. He'll have to make amends and score another one sharpish!:)

Erm, hold on a minute. We've got Forest up first and if he's not on the scoresheet after an hour, gets subbed and well, you know the rest.

My son called it when he saw the line ups that he’d get 3 today. The forward 3 today all played well but Billy’s instinctive finishing plus his ridiculous work rate are so rare in football, it’s a pleasure to watch.

Never drop him unless he's injured, never take him off when it's tight. There is nobody in this division that can do what Billy does so wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him on the pitch. His goals will be the difference this season.
Surely part of 'wrapping him in cotton wool' is not having him on the pitch at all times, resting him midweek seems to have worked today.

Wilder said in his post match interview that Billy was rested and always going to play today.

Excellent player and has to start every match if fit
Would love to see him in the premiership with us scoring in his mid 30's like Brightons Murray

He's amongst the most shrewd and astute strikers in the division. Or you could pay shed loads for a Patrick Bamford who looks like he barely knows what to do.

If he’d have started Tuesday then we could be clear at the top by a lot of points?

Billy gets dropped needlessly and Wilder needs to stop doing it.

Billy starts games and we win the league, it’s pretty simple really.

His career stats point to the fact that the Football League hasn’t seen a better striker this side of the millennium, possibly ever?

I was never in any doubt about him, not since the first time he was sold. Does it time and time again. For some reason people forget how good he has been or such a long time. He will continue to do what he does. Scores goals in his sleep.

True Blades legend. He will be one to tell the children and grandchildren about.

He is this generation's Brian Deane/Tony Currie/Jimmy Hagan. He deserves to be called an all-time Blades legend. 10 goals in 15 games at 32 years old...that's 30 goal a season form (though I don't think he'll get 30...that would be silly). He's a hometown hero...Chelsea fans called John Terry "Captain, Leader, Legend," surely Billy is worth that sort of accolade. Without him we'd still be suffering in League 1.

I agree that we may have won if he started Tuesday, it's impossible to say for sure.

If it's pretty simple, why isn't Wilder doing it?

Without him there’s a chance United would have been in League Two

How is it needless? Wilder stated he needed the rest? And more importantly every time he does drop him for whatever reason Sharp comes back with the bit in his teeth and sets out to prove a point. Not scored in 3 he drops him and then he gets 3. It seems to happen every time he does it.

Fuck knows!

I’d always start our main man though as I’ve pointed out in many threads, Billy’s all round play is as good as it gets, he’s improved it immeasurably.

His record speaks for itself.
