Do we think thing's are positioning for wilders removal ( possibly moving up to DOF ?? ) with his attitude towards foreign players it'd save us a lot of money on scouting forrays abroad 🤣🤣
I wouldn’t be opposed to it as long as his long term strategy was also to bring through academy players too. He has done better at that but sometimes there has been a reluctance. We do have a steady pipeline of I would say a first team player every 2-3 years (give or take), Wilder is excellent in the loan market too, then it’s just a case of developing the squad around that. Although we might not necessarily get value for money in England, Wilder has brought in a few excellent players (for our level) from abroad.

Wilder has brought in a few excellent players (for our level) from abroad. Who?

Micky Collins must have impressed people at the club, going from the U21s to the first team and now being given more responsibility as our assistant manager. A guess may be that he was starting to attract interest from elsewhere as well, meaning we had to offer him a more important role to keep him at the club.

I'm sure that the intention is to build a strong staff around Wilder, but IF things don't work out next season, there's an argument that Collins could at the very least offer some continuity by staying on as a staff member, or even take temporary charge. Some great managerial careers can start that way. Alan Knill would probably not offer that, if he'd stayed on in his role.

Hmmmm….maybe.

It feels like Wilder rates him, so more likely involve and/or listen to him than an ‘outsider’. Fingers crossed Micky and Phil can freshen things up!

Berge and Ben Brereton Diaz (1st spell) was brought in from Villarreal on loan. For the level we were playing at both did well. He has used other “foreign imports” although not classing the likes of Souttar and Choudhury as brought in from abroad.

Yeah I wonder if in a way it’s giving Wilder a chance to appoint his successor for the following season if things don’t go as planned

On the other hand, it seems he’s highly regarded so it seems the sensible internal appointment to make, whilst also giving the chance to bring in fresh blood to the coaching staff as well

100% succession planning, saying the right things about getting the club, fingers burned appointing outsiders so going for continuity this time, hope it works out

When the managerial switch happens, it will be interesting see who is in pole position,Micky Collins or Phil Jones ?
