Nope, nobody will ever beat Brewster. Not for the next 100 years anyway
Disagree, mainly cos Brewster has potential (which he was showing prior to injury) he showed signs of attacking/scoring awareness, whilst Berge offers nothing that we haven't all witnessed, just glimpses of skill that evaporate into nothingness.

Its a weird one because I hate to be negative when we're picking up results by my god Berge has been awful since the WC. I've always said he was a good player that was massively over rated by our fanbase. He barely gets into matches apart from the odd burst but I'm not sure if he's lazy/unfit/wants a move but he's definitely not wanted by me.

We should be trying to renew his deal if promoted. If we aren't he wont want to stay on current terms. The problem will be persuading him to sign.
I understand that he’s the only player that didn’t have to take a cut when relegated.

We surely won’t be increasing his money based on what we’ve seen, and I’m amazed even his biggest fans would make that case.

I personally think Sander Berge would be a liability for a struggling premier league side - and that’s what we will be.

I'm just amazed hoe we have won 9 out of 11 with 10 men......
There’s an awful lot if distance between a player who wants to play at a higher league (some argue for a top European club) and contributing nothing.

It’s surely time everyone just settled on the reality that he’s got some real strengths, plenty of weaknesses, and on balance he’s probably an above average championship footballers.

He was a hole today. Hecky moved him left to right to centr back out left then right again. Where ever he played he created problems for another member of the team. Lowe was effective until he had Berge behind him and was worried about pushing on because Berge provided no security. When on the right there was a huge gap if either Angel or Boggle pushed forward, even worse if both got forward. In the centre he provides nothing. Today he never showed for the ball, jogged back and jogged forward, when we have the ball he seems to follow his marker about. Infuriatingly twice towards the end of the game he absolutely ghosts past their players with ease. But that is not enough to warrant a place in the side. I just don’t get it. Simple truth if he is leaving in this window we should stop playing him because his value must be falling every time he starts

If he was such a liability why didn't hecky see it and drag him off
To me he had an off day and wasn't at the races but if he was as bad as you and several others have said why didn't the manager take him off

I'm not usually one to post at HT because it can come back to bite you.

I'm one of Berge's biggest defenders, but this has been an appalling showing first half. He looks totally disinterested and has just cost us a goal. Hopefully he's hooked for Doyle.
Hecky will NEVER do that

Point accepted . I would have pulled him when he brought Doyle on rather than take McAtee off but we don’t know whether McAtee was struggling by then. Having made that decision Illy having to come of was an issue as ideally he would have wanted to bring Sharpeoff for Jebbison. Personally I was surprised he came out in the second half, even Beas or Osbourne couldn’t have been worse

Because for some unaccountable reason the manager wants to play him for the whole game even when it's obvious he's not contributing.
Is it coz he cost a lot ?
Is it coz he's on big wages ?
Is it coz the club want him sold + so want him proved to be fully fit ?
Goodness knows.
But playing as he did today , it's a complete mystery why he wasn't subbed off.
Hecky seems loathe to have McAtee & Doyle together in midfield...
Maybe Coulibaly should get a chance.

Baffled as to why he didn't take him off ,he was pathetic today and showed know interest whatsoever and he's been clumsy and careless for the last few weeks too , I was a big admirer of berge but if he's not bothered he needs to go ASAP. Like a few have said in the other threads we where garbage today and I put that down to berge having to be carried thru out the game and offering nothing. Should have been replaced by Doyle today and mcatee should have stayed on the pitch

More questions than answers there kid
Either hecky puts out his best team to win the game or he doesn't
Simple as

Absolute nonsense

Yes he is when played out of position which the manager did yet again. The passenger today was a certain Billy Sharp. Time Jebbison got a run.
So, nearly three years later (as it’s still not clear), what exactly is his best position?

Surely nobody still holds onto the the notion he’s a deep lying midfielder? Not in the English game he’s not.

Agree with every word. So, so frustrating.

When he made a couple of fuck ups in a couple of minutes today H,J & SMc immediately told Doyle to warm up, but then brought McAtee off?!

Comment of the day

Genuine question, if we were buying Sander Berge how much would you be willing to pay for him ?

The only person who seems to think he's a deep lying midfielder is the manager. Only when Sharp was taken off was he pushed forward and should have scored.

He did a decent job pressing, especially the first 20 minutes. Apart from that, and a 5 minute burst after half time where he tried to carry the ball a few times he was really poor. Not many were good though tbf

I'm just not sure what his role is anymore?
