we cannot afford to keep letting players run contracts down and / or buy high value players that lose their value
to date we have only made a profit on Ndiaye and Ramsdale, whilst ndiaye was a significant contribution it does not cover other losses and his value on the balance sheet.
subsequently things have to change, other players have been offered new contracts and things are under discussion in the hope that they will sign, if not they will no doubt be moved on. It is a business and has to be run as such.
yes the timing is bad but things must be brought back onto an even keel after losses on transfer fees, losses due to covid and the purchase of the real estate which was forced onto the club.
I do not like the timing and the loss of key players but can understand why it is happening.
Just hope that the owner is true to his word and the manager is given all the funds ( £40m by my guesstimate) to reinvest in younger players on longer contracts.
yes possibly get relegated this season but have a more valuable squad ( not have lost £30m on ndiay and Berge ) and be able to bounce back next season
