CONFIRMED Berge to Burnley

Players are all aware of this as is the manager who stormed off from training yesterday on hearing of the Burnley situation
Is that a logical assumption or is that from an actual source?

From what’s been said we’ve only just received an offer for him. You cant sell if no one wants to buy. This late suggests he wasn’t even a priority even Burnley. Ergo we can’t strengthen until he’d gone.

If you have a car it’s depreciating all the time. Would you leave it sitting ont drive until it’s worth nowt or get something while you can?

🎶 Just sold my Berge to we buy any lazy bugger Burnley🎶 ;)

Wonder if he put instagrams of him and Harland on his skills reel

The club could have very easily put feelers out to generate interest if they wanted to. If the plan was to generate cash to strengthen the squad then it should have been the plan right from the off. It would have been unpopular but at least they could have done something about it.

Instead, we’ve fucked about and sold days before the season starts.

I’m sure you’ll be over the moon seeing our midfield filled with a bunch of hard working cloggers again.

There may be a bit of truth in this.

Raking over the coals of the Lundstram saga in the 20/21 season, it would all seem to fit. Maybe ‘the hierarchy’ were saying the same thing to Wilder about Lundstram - when the latter wouldn’t commit to new terms - and Wilder’s response to the interference was to keep playing him to make the point that he was in charge of playing matters - one of several battlegrounds that developed between Wilder and the Board.

It always felt that there may be something ulterior to the Lundstram situation given (a) the player was playing poorly and (b) that it was completely unlike Wilder to persist with a player who wouldn’t commit to the club, or even have the temerity to seek better terms eg Duffy.

Yet Wilder kept selecting him. Was he just making a point?

At the risk of being called an apologist, or a clapper, I am actually calling bullshit on this for 3 reasons:

1) It's the Mail

2) I can't see Hecky standing for the board influencing how he manages the team to such a degree.

3) It's the fucking Mail.

I don't doubt that he was strongly encouraged to renew his contract, and there were lots of tricky discussions, but I suspect this has been blown up in typical Mail fashion. Who really knows though eh? 🤷‍♂️

Never said or implied that but Souza, Doyle, Slimane, Tillman, Mctee et Al are hardly what I’d call “cloggers”. I don’t mind a rational debate but if you resort to putting emotive words in peoples mouths to get a rise talk to Andy67 not me.

the club have done nothing wrong cant believe the outcry on here maybe he has been a good professional but he obviously doesnt see his future with us we cant just stand still waiting to see what berge wants to do lets have a bit of patience im sure 4/5 players will be added before the end of the window and one more thing lets get behind whoever is playing in the red and white stripes on saturday our fans can be the 12th man and get us over the line utb fto

The mail is the only reason I've got for possibly not believing it. The board would absolutely overrule Hecky. He's just said on a public forum he wants Darren Smith to stop being fed info/stop bleating it out on Twitter. Neither have happened.

Good riddance for me. One of most skilful but absolutely lazy ineffective players ever seen at SUFC imo. Goes missing for 40mins in each half, can’t head a ball and lazy. Then he annoys you by showing how good he could be if he tried. If his ambition is to live closer to his mate at city it explains why he flopped here. Take as much as we can and invest in youth who wants to work hard for the club.

I’d like to have a rational debate but if this is the type of nonsense you really believe then there isnt much point.

The line about him wanting to be closer to Haaland is utter bollocks and you know it.

I'm at a loss for words here. I just cannot get my head round what's going on. I can just about cope with Ndiaye going. Seems like he and his agent forced it, there wasn't much we could have done etc etc

But this is just lunacy. Whatever the strengths and weaknesses of Sander are, he is one of the best players we have, on his day (I know they aren't all that frequent) and this time, the club is effectively forcing the player out.

As others have said, 3 and a half years ago we thought we were on the cusp of something truly incredible. We were genuinely in the mix for the top 5/6 in the premier league, we were playing sensational, no-holds-barred attacking football, and to put the icing on the cake we spent £20m on a highly-rated European talent, that many people though was going to go to Manchester United! (sure I remember on the day he signed, twitter chat saying he'd been seen at Carrington, and nobody being surprised if they were signing him).

How has it gone from that, to this. It's just so utterly depressing.

The club have waited until the week the season starts. Has it only just dawned on them he might not sign a new contract?

Fucking amateur hour on a suicidal level.

Who’s to say Hecky wasn’t on board with not playing Berge after being messed about by Ndiaye?

I do think there is a case to be pondered that if Ndiaye had stayed this transfer with Berge wouldn’t be happening. I think the patience of the Club management has been tested.

Pure mismanagement internally and negligence of the club contracts.

I see it as PA not sorting out his MOT advisories as he's trying to sell the car ASAP. Someone put bids in for his back two tyres but decided to keep those in the summer in hope he'd sell it all together. His sales have fallen through and now he's breaking it for parts.

Sorry mate, I don't see it as taking the piss.

We offered a contract over a specific length. By all means the club may prefer to move him on or get him to sign a new one, but he's not refusing to play.

Well during his time here he has had serious injuries, we have offered him a deal despite all that. He has chosen not to sign or has been advised not to by his agent (and that national team manager of his).

We need to move him on. We can't afford to let £20million players walk out the door for nothing like Wednesday did with pretty much every player they have bought since Chansiri took over.

We were probably burned by the fact we allowed the likes of Moose and Burke leaving for free. Cheaper players yes but that was still the best part of £20mil walking out the door for free.

Its about replacements, with Sander at his best 8.5/9 out of 10 on his usual performances anything from 4-6 out of 10 and you only got his best a few games a season or bursts of 10 mins in a game. We need consistency I would rather have a solid 7/10 no fuss type of player that you can depend on rather than the every now and then he might just do it.

Mentioned this yesterday and how the princes minions ridiculed.
Was sceptical when I first saw it yesterday but after a conversation last night I'm more inclined to believe it tbh.

We all get the potential benefits of getting 12 mill now but there's a difference in sitting down with a player and coming to an amicable decision, and trying to force them out.

I'm guessing those comfortable with it would feel the same if Sander effectively downed tools in order to get a move instead of seeing out his last year.

Only time will tell if this benefits us but its not a good look imho at present. We've got a number of players with a year left. How are they feeling just now?
