I dunno. I see where you’re coming from, but to say he’d be frozen out suggests the board would interfere with Hecky’s selections. Sounds pretty terrible to me.

What other way do you deal with it? Let him keep playing and feather his nest at the end of the season when he leaves.

Sure but theres still no excuse for letting it get this late, having him played in every pre-season etc. We need a decision by X date if you're staying or we're selling ya, could've been done weeks ago.

Maybe much like Ndiaye we were led to believe on the back of promotion he would sign new terms.

It's the best thing to do for the club. If we said, ok stay on and leave next year, we are £12m down for the pleasure.
Sign, or leave, is the only sensible options to give.
Oh I agree to an extent there. It’s the threat of freezing him out of the squad I don’t like. That would cross a line, that I’m sure PH would have a view on.

Yep some fans will think it's fine as they're happy to get 12 mill or whatever for him.

However, if it is true it will be common knowledge within the game and won't be a good PR exercise for current or prospective players.

Maybe but also shows that if you want to go then you and your agent go find a new club now and we will sell you. Don't take the piss and sit on your contract to the point you screw the club over.

Like I have said before there has never been solid bid on the table for Sander in all the time he has been with us.

This is a very bad look. I genuinely hope it isn’t true.

This is a fucking disgrace

Sack the board ringing around the lane on Saturday then

Christ. Imagine PH having to go along with that.
So everyone happy with him running down his contract leaving us without the resource to strength the squad either now or at end of season?

I'm with United on this one. Either sign or move on now. It's just the timing that is a real kick in the bollocks.
End of the day we spent around 22m on him.

I don’t suppose, no matter how pleasant he was about it, telling the hierarchy that he’ll just wind it all down and happily leave for zero would go down all that well. Especially when you then consider you’re paying him more than anyone for the privilege. Then add in there must be a 50/50 chance he’ll get an injury and miss 20% of the season.

It’s like lending your mate your car and him returning it to you with a completely empty tank! Actually it’s not, but the feeling of deflation would be similar!

Hecky on the phone to PA (using his mate's mobile as the prince has ignored every call from his all week!)....
PH: "Nah then cock, weerz these 6 fucking players you promised me 2 months ago?! You do know we've got a game in 4 days don't you?"
PA: "....... [click] beeeeeeeeeeeeep"

It depends how much financial trouble we’re in. Cut the asking price, tout his availability to other clubs and if we can’t sell him then that’s that (for me), we utilise him for another year. When the board start overstepping the mark when it comes to team selections etc, it feels like Pandora’s box.

Had a similar situation at work before Covid.

The two people directly above me were forced out by the hierarchy because they wanted to go in a different direction and knew that they were respected by people below them.

Had a hugely negative impact causing other staff to leave and discouraged others from joining.

This may well make business sense to the owner but it also sends a message to existing or prospective players.

We seem to be making a good job of damaging morale when we should be doing the opposite.

Sorry mate, I don't see it as taking the piss.

We offered a contract over a specific length. By all means the club may prefer to move him on or get him to sign a new one, but he's not refusing to play.

The season starts in 4 days. How the fuck are we supposed to strengthen before then?

How has it taken until the end of the window for them to decide, oh actually we want to sell him?

This is all down to the club. We’ve known Berge’s situation, we’ve known since the start of last season. I’m fine with him running down his contract, he’s shown enough for me that his attitude would have been sound enough to give his all for the shirt.

I’d also be fine with selling as long as it was done in a reasonable time for us to strengthen the squad. 4 days before the start of the season is fucking bonkers.

I wonder if the other 10 players or whatever who are all in the same position at the end of next season end up in the same boat?

This one just stinks for me as I think Berge could’ve easily forced a move over the years but instead slummed it out in the championship with us and now we’re not willing to show him a bit of loyalty back, but that’s business I guess.

Although I really do like Sandra and what he brings to the team, life goes on and he can easily be replaced. I undersand what the board are trying to do here.

It's what the board do next that really matters...

From what’s been said we’ve only just received an offer for him. You cant sell if no one wants to buy. This late suggests he wasn’t even a priority even Burnley. Ergo we can’t strengthen until he’d gone.

If you have a car it’s depreciating all the time. Would you leave it sitting ont drive until it’s worth nowt or get something while you can?

🎶 Just sold my Berge to we buy any lazy bugger Burnley🎶 ;)

Wonder if he put instagrams of him and Haaland on his skills reel

Sander has never indicated he would sign another contract - maybe if we had a decent season in the prem he might have

So the only thing we know as "fact" is that Sander has said he wants to run his contract and has said that for a while?

Everything else is rumour and yet there are so many jumping on SB and the Boards back!!!

I just don't get it, the only thing I will say on this until I hear facts is that a move to Burnley seems nonsense, why would he move there except for Kompany/money.
Are Burnley really the only team willing to offer £12m for him, as that would be the only reason to "force" him, which again I find nonsense.
I think the only reason you would, to play under a "higher profile" manager on more coin would be for some a persuading factor. Its difficult to say with the current market regarding your 2nd comment with him being in the final year and we haven't exactly being quiet about the fact that we don't have much cash, £12 million all of a sudden becomes a bid that "seems right", thats if there is truth in the rumour.

Are you really pinning this on Sander?? 🤣🤣🤣

1)He's always been clear since being in championship he wouldn't be signing a new contract.

2) He's never pushed for a move or spat the dummy and refused to train.

3) United used a 3rd party to find buyers and he never said he didn't want to go, in fact he sat in his hotel room and missed game against Wrexham waiting for a transfer to be agreed.

You can't blame Sander for seeing out his full contract and not wanting to sign a new one, it's not his fault United valued him too highly and couldn't find a suitable bidder and now he's in his last year had to stoop to any old bidder at a much lower price.

Anyone thinking this is Sanders fault needs to give their head a wobble (unless you're saying that anyone who has a contract with us MUST sign another contract with us as a devine right)
