It’s very well documented when a season starts, it’s therefore a fucking minimum expectation that with over three months notice we should be putting out a competitive side from the off.

Yea we are trying our very best to fuck it all up .Its called the Sheffield Utd way . Selling our best player to a relegation rival is very good business you know .It,s a cunning plan by our wonderful board .

Slimane and Traore feel pretty similar to Ndiaye and Berge in terms of role in the side.

Ultimately could be looking at Ndiaye + Berge + Jebbison? = Slimane + Trusty + Traore + O'Brien? + Akpom? + ...

Anel is a totally different proposition as we have him tied down to a long term deal. The only reason Berge is still here is because we didn't flog him for less than we thought he was worth.
Reinventing the money we get now is a smarter decision for the future of the club as painful as it is and as tough as it might make this season.

Will be exciting seeing some new faces come in at least

There seems to be a suggestion that players the club or this forum have identified all want to join us. That is not reality.
There may be a long list identified but no guarantee that they will arrive.

I hate to say it, but we won't get Akpom (wasn't too keen on him but would currently take anyone). Not sure I want O'Brien either, especially with the price Forest want

Was just putting them in as placeholder names really. Might not be them specifically but we'll be targeting players in those roles

That’s why many teams don’t let players out until players are in the building.

Which players do you know WANT to join us out of the ones rumoured? Let’s see how many turn up

Palace haven't got a squad of players that would struggle to finish mid-table in the Championship though have they?!
 
This COULD be the fruition mentioned at the end of last season many, many times on these forums. The approach of essentially writing the season off and planning to build a squad to get promotion in 24/25, when you'd like to think debts have been paid, finances secure and ideally stable new owners. Whether or not PA is committed to securing our future or is simply topping his balance back up before jumping off the ship is another thing.
 
I don't really have an issue selling Berge for a decent wedge of cash. I do have an issue though with selling him before we have landed 2 or 3 decent first team players. Or heaven forbid we stall the sale until after Saturday so that we have a week and a half to get in reinforcements. To be sat 5 days before the kick off having sold your best two players and being about £25m in credit with the Bank, and having just topped up the finances with a shirt sponsor and season ticket sales, is simply inexcusable.

This 'end of the window' bollocks is funny. We play 2 'winnable' games in that period. I say 'winnable' rather than winnable because I'm not sure we'd beat Blackpool at the minute.
 
I don’t think this is the move Berge wants but it sounds like increased wages and probably an extra season of Prem exposure, so makes sense for us to get a fee for him.

But we shouldn’t be selling anyone without a replacement waiting to sign the dotted line. Didn’t we have Ndiaye’s replacement all ready to go? And Berge cover last summer?

Sell these players, yeah fine, but Saturday is our first game in a season where NO games can be thrown away.

We’re weaker without Berge, whatever your opinion of him. He’s been the only one preseason to be consistently performing imo.

We now face going into the new season with a first 11 who’ve never played together (new signings), or an 11 with substantial areas of unproven ability and below average squad fillers.

We only really have Foderingham, Anel, Egan and Baldock that I’d say aren’t of at least some concern.

This could well be the beginning of the end for us if we don’t invest heavily in the team, we could be uncompetitive for years! Players and agents aren’t stupid, we’re fucking odds on to go down, we are not an attractive proposition (as it stands)
This close season has been shambolic and cowardly.
Fuck this… I’m getting on the drink!

I agree mate the first 4 or 5 matches are the ones we might have a chance of getting some points .After those matches it gets really tough and doubt we have a chance of getting anything .
 
Popped on for 5 minutes after a busy morning at work, wish I hadn't! Got to feel for Hecky and his team, even if 4, 5 or 6 signings arrive before the end of September it'll take them weeks to get up to speed. Starting well and not getting left behind will be key to us having any chance you'd think, and as much as I'd love to see us roll Palace and pick up the odd win or three before the end of September I really can't.
 
Someone do one of those Hitler videos over Ndiaye and now Berge going, it's just a matter of time re one of them coming in!
 
Berge is a class act & can do better than Burnley. His national managers comments haven't obviously helped our case, but, neither would this move? Does look very unambitious, losing 2 quality assets... 😭

Or how about United sign the fucker anyway as we have been fannying around with this one all summer. We should be recruiting now after the Ndiaye sale, not letting more leave. Berge to go is fine with me but for fucks sake get some in first United.
