Maybe!

My point all along is how can Woodburn at this moment in time be better than Brooks? He quite simply can’t be.
We'll soon know!
But Woodburn is (supposedly) a season away from getting into the Liverpool 1st team.
Brooks is possibly going to be playing in the Bournemouth 1st team in a few weeks.
I would say that getting into the Liverpool team as opposed to the Bournemouth team requires a better player.

How do you work that out ? Woodburn is not ready for Liverpool's 1st team and Brooks wouldn't be either he has only gone to Bournemouth as there were no other takers and they are hoping to get a star on the cheap. You can bet your life if Liverpool decided to sell Woodburn he would be sold for more than £12m.
At this moment in time I can almost guarantee you they couldn’t.

It’s purely a financial decision....
Yeah, I can see that, I just don’t think it’s an ideal way of doing things, unless you get success through it and that’s what it’ll be ultimately judged upon.

And in relative terms that accounts for what ? 2 percent of all loans made from PL clubs ? Lower ??

Incidentally, were these players allowed to play against the club's that owned them ?
It was just some examples, not an extensive list.

As far as I recall, they weren’t allowed to play against their parent clubs.

Any prem club could loan him and that’s my argument regards the two of them.

Listen, I’m not saying Woodburn is crap because I really rate him but how can anyone at this current time say that he’s better than Brooks? The evidence says otherwise.
Can’t disagree with that mate.

I saw them both for Wales. I thought Woodburn was better tbh. But that’s just one game, against pretty poor opposition. If he can do it regularly against championship opposition then we’ve got a good one. It’s a big if though.

With regard to him being a loan, unless we went up, we’d probably have lost Brooks anyway, even if we’d kept him this season. But that’s academic really, he wanted to go.

Now that second paragraph is very hard to disagree with, out of all the debates I’ve had.

I’m standing down your honour. :)

There are other things to look at though re: Brooks out, Woodburn in.

There was an element of risk with DB, form was poor when he came back from glandular fever, is he going to have any side effects. Doesn't look like it based on Bournemouths pre season but he left before we had a chance to know for sure.

We got money.

A good relationship with Liverpool can only be good too, if it gets us good players above other teams (assuming it works out)

Woodburn is a big name (despite what Wednesday fans say [jealous]) so it's a bit of a "ooh shit, they're a proper team, I might go there" type deal for me. It makes us look attractive.

I'd obviously, much, much rather have kept Brooks, as well as getting Woodburn on loan but I think this is an excellent signing in a stick or twist season.

If we get a few loans in and go up, we'll have more money next season to replace Brooks permanently.

If we don't go up, then things will obviously have to change, we'll probably be selling some key players, JOC and Fleck if we can keep them now and in the JTW, so again we're free then to spend some of the money on a Brooks type as well as replacements or we might buy with a new system in mind and we're not tied to a certain type of player.

We didn't have a place for Brooks really, so even if we bought a direct replacement, doesn't mean we'll magically be able to field an extra player.

Unless something changes like the ownership, we might be trading players in for better.

I agree with you but at the end of the day it’s a business.

Woodburns barely played a handful of senior games he may be the next big thing and he may be a massive flop who knows.
Was watching a Liverpool pres season game and he looked way out of his depth as a few Liverpool fans said .
Really hope he is the next big thing and he is better than brooks.

Really hope we sign freeman aswell as we will just be in the same position this time next year as he is not out player and freeman is proven championship quality

Thought this'd be a wanker post.

Absolutely amazed this wasn't a wanker post.
S'alright, got you covered
