So that's the Brooks replacement now we need the 2 strikers...or is McGoldrick one of them?

So that's the Brooks replacement now we need the 2 strikers...or is McGoldrick one of them?

Most of the experts say he’s an UPGRADE on Brooks.
Fantastic signing, we now have one of the hottest young talents in the division playing for us.
Liverpool see him as a potential first team squad regular, if he develops as expected.

Although I am pleased at the arrival of Woodburn I am a little disappointed that this will probably mean we are no longer looking at Luke Freeman.

It also begs the question regarding the future of Ricky Holmes....if CW has promised Woodburn regular game-time and we have the Duffmiester as back up...

I can't see Wilder "promising" game time, that would be a bad idea whilst trying to keep Duffy, Fleck and Holmes happy
He will have pointed out our style of play and attacking attributes, and Klopp being a top manager will already know this and want his young player to be used in a method best suited to him

Wilder didn’t promise game time for Jamal Blackman or Wilson
But Woodburn is in a totally different category.
He’s one of the hottest young talents in the PL.
Klopp wants him to play a level below the PL to boost his confidence and wants him to play regularly.
Liverpool still think he has the potential to get into their match day squad at some point.

Liverpool don’t have any power to decide whether Woodburn starts games or not for another club.
BUT they can include conditions in the loan deal where our payments towards his wage reduce based on games played.
So if we don’t think we’ll use him much then it might get pretty expensive for us.
No doubt Wilder is confident he’ll be a regular.

I wanna tell you
I might aswell do
About a boy who can do anything
He’s Jurgen Klopp’s man
But now a Bladesman
Ben Woodburn

Klopp isn’t an idiot, he’s a good manager who knows players have to earn their place. What he won’t want is Woodburn going to a club who see him as just cover. Wilder has obviously said he intends to play him, providing he’s good enough. If he turns out like Wilson, he won’t get played and he’ll be sent back after Christmas.

Yeah we're going to leave Fleck out to accommodate him. Happy now? Now fuck off and get back to your rat hole.

Brilliant signing and this lad has loads of praise from the Liverpool fans...Hope he plays some part on Saturday. In Wilder we Trust!

Hopefully give the ticket sales a bit of a fillip for Saturday as they're looking a bit sickly up until now.

Great news ..hope he fulfills his promise ..looks booked for Duffys spot

Another centre forward ..loan ideally as don't want to spunk the lot on Waghorn ..and a Left wing back and I think we haven't had a bad summer

If we are competitive come January then we may still have funds to spend

I was thinking the same, the ticket plan shows sales sold to date are well down on last season. Currently I’m predicting a crowd 22 or 23,000 for the Swansea game. Hopefully everyone’s leaving it until the last minute to buy tickets.

Great signing. The Liverpool fans who I know and work with say he’s just like Michael Owen but quicker.
He’s clearly done some gym work as he’s baulked up a bit so won’t get muscled off the ball like Brooks did on occasions. UTB

Conor Coady was excellent.

Sam Vokes was pretty good as well.

Coincidentally, Coady was on loan from Liverpool and Vokes is Welsh. o_O
Yeah you’re right, I forgot about Coady, he was good for us although Liverpool obviously didn’t see him as a future prospect for them. I can’t remember a lot about Vokes when he was with us, but that’s most likely down to my memory than how good I thought he was.

One of my favourite moments watching Wales in recent years was Woodburn’s debut goal to win the qualifier vs Austria. It was the clear highlight in an otherwise disappointing qualifying campaign.

To set the scene, Wales needed a win to maintain any serious hope of qualifying in the remaining games. It was a poor performance, Bale wasn’t able to get on the ball in advanced positions so was having to drop deeper to see any possession, and as the game entered the latter stages it was unclear where any goal would come from.

Cue the introduction of the hero of the Belgium game 2 years ago, Hal Robson-Kanu. Another guy was brought on at the same time, who I’d never seen before.

The crowd launched into a rousing rendition of Land Of My Fathers, and as the final notes of that ended, the ball fell to one of the substitutes...

Great loan signing this one he's quick and can shoot with both feet, if nowt else it is worth it just to piss bent nosed Bruce off.

This went viral in a big way. Great moment, remember talking about it here at the time.

I'm not so sure, I think that many have been sold already at least (then whatever Swansea have shifted).

Seems like our non-season ticket holders leave it all until the last minute anyway (like the Inter game).

Great signing. Looks like Duffy is bench warming but I doubt we'll get more than a half of 110% Duffy this season anyway.

A lot depends on where Woody is asked to play. If he starts as the second striker, probably alongside Clarke [based on the current squad available] then Duffy starts as well, unless we sign Freeman. This might change though if Woody starts from midfield, but I think Chris brought him in to replace Brooks up front.

Stamina issues aside Duffy was our best player for most of last season and certainly our most creative. I would be surprised if he is suddenly second fiddle, after one summer.

I've taken a sound dislike to players that are born and raised in England but opt to play for another home country because of some relative. Particularly after David Brooks.

If a player hasn't got the belief that he'll be good enough to play for England and opts for a lesser home nation, then that says enough to me about the character of the player to tell me that he's probably not worth it

There’s no way any of the home nations are less than England!!
