By who?

Hecky would be a backwards step, we got rid because he wasn't good enough.
Heckingbottom was sacked because he was taking us down, but Ferguson, Clough, Mourinho and Guardiola combined would have all failed to keep that squad in the Premier League. You can’t judge Heckingbottom based on that season, he was completely shafted by the board.

Just like these 🤠yee rrrs lol .

If 20% each club then Donny bring in 300k, useful for them, and we get 60k of that.

Not insignificant when you compare it to day to day costs of ticketing staff rather than players.

I did suggest this earlier but when it was mentioned we sold him to Donny not PNE I’d forgotten about the knock on effect.

I reckon Hecky had zero chance of success that season. But equally he didn’t do himself many favours in those few months in the Prem. The Newcastle shambles was terribly naive.

Whilst I’d write that whole period off as redundant, others are less forgiving…. It’s just a given in football that such a period of results demands a sacrificial offering, regardless of circumstances.

That newcastle game in itself was a farce. It shouldn't have being played due to MC tragic news, who the players will have known.

And then on top of that newcastle should have had 3 or 4 goals ruled out either by officials during the game which was shocking or var itself that seem to not want do their job on 1 team.

Heckingbottom 23/24 = Pedersen 25/26

Dealt an awful hand, but managed to do even worse than they should have done.

Wrexham are such a weird club.

Probably the richest and best backed club outside the premier league / parachute clubs and buy someone like Whiteman.

He’s a decent mid championship utility style midfielder.

Parkinson is holding them back so much.
I loath Parkinson but regardless of that he has been part of what’s happened so far.

It beggars belief though because he makes Stan Ternant look like tomorrows man

Interesting side question. I reckon Ferguson might have kept them up.

Clough, Mourinho and Guardiola would have probably done worse than Heckingbottom because their styles were suited to top quality players.

However, I think Ferguson would have got them battling week in week out and might have got enough to do it. We lost 28 games that season. If Ferguson turned our two defeats to Forest into wins, we would only needed another five extra points to stay up.

They mounted a promotion challenge last season based on signing players like this.Rathbone for instance, signed from Rotherham.
I rate Rathbone just like I rate Whiteman, both useful midfielders with unique attributes and plenty of experience.

They aren't top end Championship players though, which is the point.

Disagree with the view that the other 3 would've done worse, I think they're all good enough managers to know that you can't play out from the back with Trusty in defence and not bother to try it.

Which Clough? 🤣

The problem was we had a great Championship squad and we were really promoted too early in his tenure however he managed a FA Cup Semi Final and autos with a transfer embargo. The board then jumped at the first opportunity to off load 2 of our best players at the first opportunity when both were still under contract. He then doesn't get the replacements he needs. Yes the Newcastle game wasn't one for our glory times to remember but when you are trying to compete with a squad that is worth £150million + in transfer fees it's not exactly going to be easy, not forgetting Leicester beat Southampton 9-0 in 2019, Man United did the same to Southampton in 2021 and Liverpool did it to Bournemouth in 2022 so not the worst margin in history. Hecky was dealt the worst hand by the board after giving them what the club needed which was promotion otherwise we risked going bust, he did incredibly well during his time here and was chucked out for the board to try and place the blame. Wilder Mk2 was never going to save the club from going down in a million years, everyone could see the difference in quality. Although they have had an extra season since our last stint Fulham have settled themselves as a mid-table club and just recently signed a duo from Real Madrid, yes I know they have cash but they are able to attract an array of talent.

Spot on…. Think Parkinson will be sacked before Xmas. US owners of Wrexham, Brum, Burnley will expect promotion given their investment. So with Wolves, West Ham & Saints also expecting automatic - I think the trigger will be pulled early on a few of those managers this season.
Thank goodness there are no expectations on us, at least we won't be disappointed
