I agree and ideally we need to develop a South Yorkshire academy to nick all of the youngers from this area.

It will be interesting to see where this new area is for a new facility that the club has hinted at recently and exactly what plans we have for it.

I'm also interested to know why Aidy Boothroyd is here - "Coach Mentor and Consultant" is his official title and considering he's been on the FA staff, perhaps he's consulting on CAT 1 academy status.

The pigs don't have any money and are still in a continuing decline (think we all hope they haven't bottomed out yet), but a S Yorks focus could bring in players like John Stones who went through Barnsley's academy, so ideally we could be able to corner the entire County.

We’ll struggle to completely dominate South Yorkshire in terms of youth recruitment as Leeds have already gone cat one and they’re active across the whole of yorkshire. In addition to that both the Manchester and Liverpool clubs are incredibly active in Sheffield and Yorkshire as a whole cherry picking the best young lads.

Cat one won’t help us to reverse the tide when it comes to those clubs but what it will do is allow us to keep hold of the best of our own youngsters and we lose a couple every year from the youngest age groups. What it would do is seriously undermine the productive Barnsley set up and Wednesday may as well pack it in but they may as well do that now really.

Gives us scope to go and recruit nationwide though like Norwich and Villa have been in recent years. Going Cat one might not raise the ceiling of the academy products we produce as we’ve been good in that regard anyway Maguire, Walker, Brooks all really exceptional talents but it should increase the frequency with which we produce Championship quality players and that would go a long way in helping to build a squad.

Spot on…. Think Parkinson will be sacked before Xmas. US owners of Wrexham, Brum, Burnley will expect promotion given their investment. So with Wolves, West Ham & Saints also expecting automatic - I think the trigger will be pulled early on a few of those managers this season.

Writing people off is the easiest and most common hobby of the fan. Truth is, particularly with managers, we don't have a fucking clue. You could pick out 100 "forward thinking" managers and they might all fail, and those you write off could end up achieving success as they had before.

There are so many factors fans rarely consider when judging a manager, and as fans we understand so little of what they actually do.

As much as managers like Warnock become a parody of themselves, they can be written off a million times and still manage to achieve miracles, as he did.
