30th Jan v Pigs.

8 games on the bench for Liverpool.

Is this fella better in a four or a three? Have heard he's not too good in the air which has me worried if it's the former.

Ben Davies aerial success rate:
20/21: 64%
19/20: 58%
18/19: 62.5%

Comparing that to Egan, O’Connell and Robinson’s 18/19 stats when they were all at championship level:
O’Connell: 67%
Egan: 63%
Robinson: 53.5%

It looks like we’re gonna find out but Davies should be reliable in the air for us and a big improvement in defence.

£1m loan fee for a player they bought for £1.6m in January. Liverpool certainly have good negotiators.

i think slav wants to play a back 4 and davies will be egans partner with viera sat in front of them as the dm which puts bashams position at the club in serious doubt for me

Maybe they're not the only ones 😄

Although the exact amount Jebbison’s employers want has yet to be confirmed, there is speculation it could be as high as £1m after watching the 18-year-old score on his full Premier League debut towards the end of last term.

This is true but it also allows us to play 3 at the back too if needed (Davies better at going forward than Robbo)

I like Ben Davies. A cultured footballer, good speed and decent distribution. He'll do well for us. He does lack physicality though and by all accounts tends to get dominated in the air.

Also remember Davies is quite rapid and therefore we may not sit so deep when he’s in the back 4
This is key, because we’re so deep at the minute because we don’t trust the players we have in that position. With Baldock, Davies and RND in there that changes dramatically from what we’ve seen so far.

Agree. Good pacy options. I'm looking forward to seeing RND come into the side. He's a good competitor and loves a challenge. Mind you, whenever I've seen him I've not been massively impressed by him going forwards, but fans of Stoke / Luton seemed to suggest his output isn't bad.

Either way, great to see an academy lad graduate properly.

May be a loan fee involved and an additional fee if we win promotion apparently. Hope we aren't getting rinsed again and then they overlook us if we wanted to buy and instead sell to the highest bidder.

That Celi fella looks a proper player
If we could nick him I see that as a steal
What have you seen of him? I can’t say I’m overly excited about him purely on the back of a few you tube clips.

Same as you Bob but I thought he posses’s a directness that we haven’t got

He also looks like he has pace and balance

I know you can’t go on videos but I liked what I saw

And I also know that perhaps I’m clutching at straws 😩

He also looks he has that special brand of South American 'nastiness' or gamesmanship about him, couple of clips show very clever running, bouncing a defender off balance and him back towards the ball

I haven't seen much of RND, but he looks a bit of a unit, and a mobile one at that.

I really hope Slav deploys him at LB, with Osborn at LM. That gives us a very energetic left flank in my opinion.

Don't know if it's been mentioned here but according to onefootball it will include an option to buy at the end of the loan

This million pound loan fee thats being chucked about without the option to buy seems a bit steep. Or am I living in the past and loan fees are this eye watering now?

£1m loan fee for a player they bought for £1.6m in January. Liverpool certainly have good negotiators.

The only reason the £1.6m fee was so low was due to his contract expiring in summer 21. His value will have risen the moment he signed the contract with Liverpool, regardless of his (lack of) performances.

That said, Michael Edwards does an exceptional job overseeing Liverpool's ins & outs - the deal he struck for Brewster (including a buy-back just in case he came good) showed that.

I had the same initial reaction.
But then I thought “is £1m really eye watering?”
Don’t get me wrong, I dare say for me & thee it’s life changing.
But in footy these days, we’ve got access to a young player with great potential in a very critical season for us in a position we need cover - for just £1m.
Modern footy eh.
