First thing you need to know is that the Prince is not the sole owner of Beerschot, he owns 50% and the other 50% are owned by two local entrepreneurs (DCA which is a big construction company and Wolff oil a trader in industrial oils). They seem to get along well. There are rumours that the Prince has or wants to increase his stake to 75% following the promotion but nothing official yet. The reason he bought the club was that he recognized the potential, a big club in Belgium that produced top talents like Moussa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Naingolan and many others, that had fallen to lower divisions due to bad ownership and which he could buy a stake in basically for free with a commitment to invest in our uprise. Very similar to his Sheffield investment. He did not change that much, he did put in Van Winckel as technical Director but that has worked out well so far. He brought in some very good players for our level like Austrian play maker Holzhauser who is in his current form one of the best play makers in the league. The transfer of Suzuki, Japanse international and scoring more than 20 goals last season is also a real sign of ambition. The whole transfer window in fact has been great. The biggest change that they are talking of now is building a new modern stadium which would make us a serieus Challenger for the top 5 in Belgium. So so far only good news. In the beginning there were ideas to change the club badge but he soon realised that this would not go well and thus he respected the fans’ opinion. We seem seriously on the rise similar to you. Only concern I have is that if he buys more clubs for his network we risk that he will prioritize other clubs. As long as he strives for the best for all his clubs than we can be happy.
