Must disagree, Tyler. Next season, any team in the PL will see the TV money go stratospheric - possibly for the last time as Sky and BT Sport can't sustain what they currently pay (I think I read it's £9m per game). This will set up the pigs for many years and, I'm afraid it's looking increasingly likely that they'll get into the play-offs at least - possibly autos. Teams above them are imploding - Brighton, Derby etc. and the chasing pack will inevitably have to play each other.
The best option is failure to get promotion (although, if they get to the PO Final at Wembley, it will re-invigorate them for next season) and the fans may get fed up of paying extortionate prices. I don't know what they were charging v Leeds on Saturday, but less than 24k (with around 4k from Leeds) is fucking pathetic.
And 'not giving a fuck about their fortunes' is burying your head in the sand. If they are in the PL, they will capture an entire new generation of young fans, be rich enough to buy a 'promotion-ready' team if they only last a season and the already-biased local media coverage will see us relegated to the status of Barnsley/Chesterfield from which I simply cannot see us ever regaining parity.
The chickens are coming home to roost for McCabe, the Prince, this 'game-changing investment' and the utter insanity of selling our best players and replacing them with - well - Third Division players.
