So I recently went to local supermarket and guy was sat on front step - clearly homeless - just as I went in I nearly bumped into someone heading out who said “ here you go mate” and handed this guy a large costa coffee before he headed back into supermarket to do his shopping.
How many people of us - me included - usually walk past these guys ? …but George Baldock didn’t. True Blades legend on and off the pitch. Thanks for the great memories George !

Even if we ever did make it back to the top end of the Premier League, it wouldn't look like that would it? It could only realistically be done now with players worth tens of millions, on ridiculous wages who have no real connection with the fans. Quite sad when you think about it.

Absolutely fucking epic, the lot of them.

Ridiculously consistent and dependable in their pomp. How lucky we were to have them.

Crucially, 3 integral culture carriers too, to use Wilder's new phrase. There's some serious character and backbone going to need to be found across our coming signings.

Many thanks and good luck to the 3 of them but thats circa 100k per week off the wage bill. Let's hope we spend it wisely !

Depends how much is put back in the pot. If we've freed up £100k then you'd like to think Wilder would get at least £30-50k of that. There are some good players out there in the £10k-£15k per week bracket and that's what we should be going for.

My major memory of Basham was happily being wrong. I remember him playing in midfield and he looked like an absolute donkey. However, the move to centre back proved to be a master stroke and the birth of a legend. My biggest criticism of Norwood has always been his lack of consistency. Up until last season Basham was the epitome of consistency. In the majority of games he might not stand out and be the main man, but he did his job well and he was a solid 6/10 - 7/10 man, week in, week out, rarely going above or below those marks. I'm looking forward to his thoroughly deserved testimonial. I'm gutted that his United career ended with that injury, but being honest, he shouldn't have been here this season as he struggled in the Championship last season, so it's a tragedy that it ended this way.

As for Baldock am I right in thinking that he scored twice in the Premier League and both were absolute bangers? I know the Spurs one was the infamous 10 minute clear and obvious toenail goal, but I'm sure the other was a cracking finish too. He often infuriated me going forward as he would run past his man where two strikers would be starting their runs into the box against two defenders, and then for no apparent reason whatsoever, and under no pressure, would turn and pass backwards. On that being down he would then receive the ball back and finally cross it in where the opposition had enough time to get more players back and it was no longer a 2 against 2 but a 4 or 5 against 2 and the cross would easily be cut out. It used to infuriate me time after time.

That said, you can't knock George's passion, effort or commitment. It's why I often said give him the armband. Bogle also annoys me for the reverse reasons of Baldock's failings above. I've said it loads of times. Baldock, great defender, wasteful in attack. Bogle, poor defender, great in attack. Combine the two and you have an awesome player (and one super crap one).

Let's hope they come on the field before the game and get a good reception from the crowd for what they've done in the past, then let's have a win ,just for them
