McBurnie and Egan

To not sign them would be a massive mistake

It appears we are low balling them

It is backwards logic , two blades stalwarts who want to stay but stoke are willing to offer better wages

Osula is a bit like Graeme Hick was for England when he came through.

He’s an absolute bully now in the U21s, but he’s not quite up to making his mark in the seniors.

Question is how to make that happen.

We’re making it happen via the bold new strategy of getting relegated. 💪

The Hick analogy is a fun one. People said he was held back for so long at a lower level that when he became eligible to play at the top, his learning years were behind him.

I guess the lesson for Jebbo and Osula is that they need gradual exposure. We’d be barking mad to expect them to carry us next season, but at the same time we don’t want them playing beneath their level.

Club apparently waiting to see how he's recovered before offering him a new deal. Free to talk to others in the meantime

Why have we not replaced the premier league balls yet? PRINCE AHT

Surely if we can afford O'Hare and Moore we can afford Mcburnie a new deal.
Just because we can afford what he's demanding, doesn't mean we should pay it. It needs to be good value from our perspective and we only ever get half a season out of McB, so maybe he needs to lower his expectations a little. Great player in the Champ when he's available, but he's unavailable far too often.

I think McBurnie is better than Moore.

Moore is very good but it would be ideal if McBurnie was first choice with KM coming off the bench or playing when McBurnie isn’t 100%.

McBurnie misses a fair bit of football and we’ve never really had adequate cover for him.

Goes without saying that we should offer McBurnie what we think he's worth, not what we can stretch to.
Therefore, it shouldn't make a difference whether we are taken over or not.

Agree, McBurnies career at Sheff Utd have been so disjointed, stop start due to injuries, generally very average but then turns up (even at PL level) with excellent performances. He still has high potential, we've seen him look the part in the PL but hasn't really delivered good value, at times he looks so basic. Even now if you said was he a good signing?, it really splits the fanbase. I'm still a bit on the fence and can't work out whether he'd be a good signing or not. I suppose I'd offer a lowish basic wage with high performance related bonuses.

Maybe get more out of Mcbernie now there is competition for the spot if we are going with one up top.A fit and swinging Mcbernie is as good as you can get in the championship bring it on

The fact we've now got Moore puts us in a stronger negotiating position, as McBurnie will know that we're no longer desperate for a forward and can live without him if push came to shove. Obviously it would be even better if we had both McB and Moore competing for the starting position in the team.

Surely with McBurnie he also is clearly not beating away offers so he needs to be prepared to take a lower offer from us. I know a lot can still change (we have onlyjust signed O'Hare for example) but I can't see McBurnie being as attractive to anyone higher than us?

I wonder if we've asked him to prove his fitness before we sign him to a new contract.

I agree but we're wanting to resign him so why the hold up?

Also we paid big money for him so keeping him and he bagging double figures next season is value for us as obviously we can't get a fee.

different types of strikers though arnt they have to admit ive never been a mcburnie fan but do think hes better dropping off and linking play up moore is as good a target man as you will find in the championship and better on the deck than many give him credit for given an injury free season he will get us 15 goals at least next season

Yeah they’re different but both could be brilliant focal points in a 4231 or 433 type formation

I assume the holdup is due to him wanting too much money. He needs to lower his expectations to match his availability and ability.

With both McBurnie and Egan we announced they were in discussions when we issued the retained list on 29th May

The assumption therefore is that deals were offered which were lower than they wanted and they’ve left them on the table.

I’d also assume that the playing staff budget now and once the takeover has completed will be different but probably won’t increase the deals for McBurnie

The transfer merri go round has only just started ,I wouldn't be surprised if a club comes in for him and offers close to what he's looking for.
I understand his position of wait n see , no one wants to take a signiwage cut and no rush on either party. Seams amicable if he's training with us . His risk if he pick up an injury in training though .

Double figures in the Championship for a striker is SHIT!
(As is McDonkey.)
A good centre half could hope to get that total.
