Brayford encouraging the fans before the game - the fact that he can even do this shows he's positive and has a big personality. Howard did something similar before the second half at Walsall. I think these gestures make a real difference bringing players and fans together.

Bob's wonder pass for Davies's header onto the bar.

Davies seemed to get into an altercation with their players before the goal. Nuisance value. I always thought Kevin Davies would be a great player to have on your team. Opposition absolutely hate him, but can be very effective. Have we got one similar?

Davies running the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of our fans.

Bob professionally pooping the party and telling everyone to get back in position. Spoilsport.

Tbh I was a bit concerned when Done came on for Davies as we seemed to have reverted to aimless hoofing. I think there was a spell where they had about 99% possession for 10 minutes or so.

Then we scored and they never got a look in after that.

Done applauding the balls up to him a number of times. Really good for team morale.

Tiredness for Tuesday? McNulty for Davies?

Great support all game.

We won the penalty shoot out at half time despite the controversial it crossed the line decision.

Bob needs to work on his free kicks.

Great to see Scoogs back, but he'll do well to get ahead of Holt.

Coutts.

Not sure how I managed it considering we were going mental at the goal at the time but I looked up and saw one of United's players stood in their half watching the celebrations for Davies' goal. Think it was Freeman, intelligent thinking as if he'd joined in, Barnsley could have kicked off and caused us a problem. Well done to him and Harris for professional actions. Pleased for Davies because I don't think he's done that bad since joining, he's got a good touch, wins headers and is strong, could be an asset if we get players round him. However, as a striker, he'll be judged on goals and to get that one today will do him a hell of a lot of good.

Basham - absolutely awesome today, I don't give many 9/10 ratings but he gets one today. Not the most technically gifted but decent enough with the ball and his heart and fight are second to none. Always a danger in the box too and I am dying for him to score, maybe he's saving it for the Play Off Final. He's Montgomery but taller and decent on the ball. I liked him at CB but he's fantastic in CM.

For Bash to play CM, we need a strong CB and Kennedy was brilliant today as well. Wins most headers considering his height - not the biggest - and shows great intelligence to position himself well. Today, he dealt well with Ibehre who always has a good game against us and never gave him a kick. Great reward for him to play well at his hometown club and I truly think, if we can keep the boy fit, we have a real good CB on our hands here.

Holt and Coutts - I hope Coutts gets the credit he deserves today, that was his best game for us by a long way. Holt too, he was a constant menace but he got the goal so he will get the recognition. Coutts was steady anchoring that midfield today and he played simple balls for Flynn and Holt that were effective. The pass for Davies' header onto the bar was sublime. He's had a rocky start but people need to give him a bit of time to adjust. If Holt can keep that up long term, he's a nailed on signing. Great finish for the goal.

Fans were superb today as well, right behind the lads from 1st minute to 94th and beyond. The only quiet spells were when we were mocking the silence from the other three sides of the ground. Full rendition of songs but the pyro stuff was a let down. I don't get it. The third one hit a United fan on the second row of the stand - what is the point if it endangers your own? I hope these morons get identified and banned because there is no need for it. Only real blot on the copy book today.

Well, one other thing - what a complete and utter over-reaction from South Yorkshire Police after the game! What the hell was that about? I've been to Oakwell lots and never witnessed anything that can be deemed dangerous. There's a good-natured banter and mocking of each other but I don't see any real passionate hatred from anybody. Yet SYP shut off Grove Street and another side street to stop United fans heading towards Pontefract Road after the game? Most of the police there were in complete agreement that it was OTT - especially as most of the Dingles had disappeared with 5 minutes left and the United fans took 20 minutes to get out of the stadium - except for one complete jobsworth. "You won't be getting through, keep walking, it's for your own safety!" she kept shouting to people. Moronic, it was sunny and United had won so most just accepted it with a look of WTF but if it was freezing, raining and United had lost, SYP would have put their bobbies in a real problematic situation there. Problem is, they're catering it for the 0.1% of muppets who want to cause aggro and punishing the 99.9% who just want to enjoy the match. Mind you, it would be double time at least for Easter Saturday wouldn't it?

Up the Blades!

Their reports will have the street closures crossed out in their note books, it never happened unless we have an enquiry in twenty years to prove them wrong.

It was Flynn , I started a thread about ,great thinking ,the ref was almost encouraging them to kick off.
Completely agree about the cops.

I loved the policeman at the barrier telling the lady in the wheelchair she will have to walk round. South Yorkshire Police begger belief, they lied about the S6 disaster, covered up child sexual abuse in Rotherham and generally are clueless.

Wasn't just the result which was good today

Finding the right balance in the midfield 3 has been an issue all season. last season we had Coady and Scougs making the runs and now that appears to be Basham and Holt to open up space. It's a shame it's not Wallace instead of Basham because he offers more going forward and goals then move Bash to play next to Tel.

Thought we were excellent for much of the game yesterday. My only concern was early in the first half when we gave a couple of free kicks away, where we had two men marking three of theirs both times. When I pointed this out I got asked if I was Brian the Blade, which made my day. That was my only real complaint, which is testament to how good we were.

Second best performance of the season for me and a huge boost. We need to keep this up and get some momentum for the play-offs.
