Outgoing? Baldock

Didn’t Wilder suggest that we’re putting out news around the players this week, who won’t be here next season?
Can't see any official news coming from the club until after the spurs match.
Obviously things leekout so won't be a surprise to see other rumours come true.

I'm a huge GB fan, but I think it's time for both parties to move on. He's starting to get a few too many soft tissue injuries (probably his continued playing for us through previous injuries starting to kick in as he gets older) and the fact that he would want (understandably) a decent wedge to sign on again for us in the championship. Bear in mind he can go and play in the sunshine where the physical levels required are probably not as incessant, and I see why the lad would fancy the move. He's a leader so will be missed, but I think if the opportunity is there for him then it's a chance to good for him to turn down. He's been a proper player for SUFC of that there is no doubt.

Under normal circumstances I totally agree but given the huge overhaul of the squad / amount of out of contract players and the areas we lack in, I honestly thought Baldock would be one of the ones to sign for another year or two. Of course his recent injuries are a concern, but that goes for any player given our injury record. Totally don’t begrudge him a move though if that’s what he wants, proper player who has been great for us.

Edit: Realised you also called him a “proper player” ha

Gutted if true, he opitimises everything I loved about this club in recent times, that being said I don't blame him for getting that one last big pay day and a shot at some more success.

Incredible servant and a bloody good footballer too, and will never wish him anything other than the best

He’s been one of my favourite ever blades. If this is true I’ll be sorry to see him go but also probably the right time. He’d have run through brick walls for this club at times and has been absolute class.

He’s had more than his fair share of injuries recently. He’s going to be one of our higher earners now after being here a while and playing through some success. He’d probably need a couple of years extension to be in a position to refuse offers from abroad. I’d hate to see him get to the position Fleck and Norwood have/are in where they’ve declined so much the fans can’t wait to see the back of them.

He’d go with a massive GLTTL from me and I’d sincerely hope he enjoyed playing out the rest of his career in the top division under a bit of sunshine with the occasional European night thrown in. Wouldn’t be a bad place to live as a gorgeously furious millionaire would it.

Loved the Thunderbastard against Swansea 🥰

He's a culture carrier, as Wilder's new phrase goes. Of that there's no doubt.

But, he's ageing and owes us nothing. He's in a position to earn a job abroad at this stage in his career and I'm assuming some European competition football? Something cool to be able to do for 2-3 years.

Baffling given Wilder bangs on about lacking leaders. Also probably the best defender at the club, when the current lot are all garbage.
Out of contract though.

It’s no longer Wilder’s call.

Can understand why George may fancy, at 30, living closer to YorkBlade 🤣

Sorry I mean, he may fancy some decent weather, playing in a different league, having a chance to win something domestically and playing in European competition not to mention being at the forefront of the thinking around the Greek National team.

Don’t blame him at all.

Far less league games than the Championship too so less chance of injury.

Gutted about this, Baldock should be one of the names we should be looking to keep. And there’s not many! Our team is always better with him in the team. Despite his shortcomings. He’s always given his all for the shirt . I think this is a travesty. I honestly do!

Quite frankly, given the opportunity, he would be feckin mad not to go to the Greek club. Relatively easy money for a player like George and a potentially fantastic lifestyle in the sunshine for a wealthy young man. If I was Wilder and George was umming and arrrring over it, I would feel that it was my almost fatherly duty in driving the lad to the airport and putting him on the plane.

Oi Yorkblade is in Cyprus. George will be in my city. Totally agree though. These rumours have been around since January

Great passion, a leader, great servant but personally never thought he was that good (sorry). A hot head with limited ability but great desire. Would be amazing if he got a chance at european football. Good luck to him.

Definitely one of my favourite ever Blades players …. up there with Morgan for his sheer determination and will to win but also a hugely underrated technical player … reads his opponents brilliantly and more than capable of zipping past opposing full backs.
He would have been my choice for captain if he stayed but I definitely wish him well with a well earned move to a big club and hopefully further Greek caps.

Good luck to him, deserves the opportunity to play European football.

From our perspective it also feels the right time to move on in my view. He's 31, he's picked up more injuries not just this season but recent seasons and in the Championship we need assists from RWB and that's not really his strength, I've always felt he's a right back first a d foremost. In the PL his defensive quality is a big asset but in the Championship I think we can get away with Bogle's less defensive quality and use his pace and creativity to greater effect.

That's assuming that Bogle has a years option in his contract.

Back to Baldock and a move to Greece makes sense for his international career and from our perspective he kept picking up injuries when he was playing for them.

This move will prolong his career and be an amazing life experience for him. I’m delighted for him, he’s earned it. As well as what he’s done for us on the pitch over the years he has been particularly amazing at providing support, guidance and advice to the young players. One of the best pros this club has ever had.

Superb servant for us and been excellent value for money.

Seems a good move for all concerned and great opportunity for him as he enters his early 30s.

One who will always get a great welcome back and go down as a Blades favourite.

I know he is. Close though. A short trip over there…

Glad he didn’t join Forest’s sister club!
