Outgoing? Baldock

Quick reminder how bad Bogle is at defending.

That OG by Robbo was so telegraphed.

You just knew Bogle wasn’t going to close him down properly.

He never does.

He’s ok as a wing back when you have lots of ball.

He’s an absolutely terrible defender though.
 

The thing I've never understood about Baldock fans is why they have to be so negative about Bogle (or whoever else is at right back) rather than just being pro-George, being needlessly anti anyone else is pathetic.

To be fair most people on here like both of them but splicing Bogle and Baldock together isn't possible with medical science just yet.

They both can have a place in our squad.

But they are very different players even though they play the same position.

Those that suggest we’ll just offload Baldock and be ok because we’ve got Bogle have to pony up and advise who comes in and adds the defensive robustness that Baldock brings. It isn’t Bogle.

Unfortunately though, Bogle is dire defensively, but would be great in midfield.

The only spanking Baldock played in was the 5-0 at Burnley and that is grossly exaggerated by the fact they had a free hit for 55 minutes and only scored the last 3 in the final 17 minutes, when we were no doubt dead on our feet.

Point being all the collapses have happened without George’s experience in the team. There is definitely room in the squad for a defender who actually takes defending seriously.

Amazing how convincing a few step overs and occasional dribble then losing the ball or not passing it can con people into

Bogle is one I would let go
Not good enough in any dept,As you say he couldn't cut it in midfield ! some fans seem to think cus he can carry the ball forward midfield would suit him ! Not good enough.
He cost a bit ! Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and lose money.
Wilder has to get it right regarding who we keep,they aren't all duds ! We have some good players in there ! hopefully Wilder will pick the ones we can build a new team around.He got it right to get us into the premiership a number of years ago , can he do it again! It's not all doom and gloom, we come back to the championship in a better financial position than last time ! Shrewd management by Wilder with help from the Prince will give us hope to bounce back again.

Bogle can't defend. He should be converted into a Winger or Right Sided Mid.

I do like Bogle as an attacking player, just not as a defender

Didn't say he was good in midfield did I, just better than in defence!
Hes basically a winger that's playing out of position.
Amazing how people pick up on parts and jump to their own conclusions.
 
I hate this whole assumption that wing backs should need to be able to defend really well. That's, at most, half their job. Heck, TAA is a worse defender than Bogle and he gets away with it as a right back in a four...

This will be a sad one, although understandable if true. An absolute stalwart of our recent success, he owes us nothing, and gave us everything. We'll be forever grateful. What a player, leader and servant. Wouldn't need to buy a pint in Sheffield ever again. 🔴⚪⚔️

In fairness as much as I agree we’ve not been run in a particularly encouraging fashion we’ve got nothing to announce at the minute he’s still a United player until the end of his deal. Once the season ends you’d expect we’ll do the farewell rigmarole on social media and probably issue a statement.
 
Might be currently injured. Might not be. Matters not, as the season was done much earlier than the last few fixtures. What would be the point in Baldock rushing back to then get an injury which would put his future career and move overseas to Greece in doubt? Truth is there was non, as we were more fucked than the Titanic was at 1 am on 15 April 1912.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an understanding between Furious George and Wilder in that if he was fit and made himself available then we would consider him for selection, but if he wasn't 'sure' then we wouldn't press the issue. Common sense and what we owe the lad. I hope he goes on to have a fabulous last few years of his career in Greece and I wish him all the best if he moves on. A real stalwart of the side and a lad who genuinely knew the importance of the red and white stripes on his shirt.

I'm a huge GB fan, but I think it's time for both parties to move on. He's starting to get a few too many soft tissue injuries (probably his continued playing for us through previous injuries starting to kick in as he gets older) and the fact that he would want (understandably) a decent wedge to sign on again for us in the championship. Bear in mind he can go and play in the sunshine where the physical levels required are probably not as incessant, and I see why the lad would fancy the move. He's a leader so will be missed, but I think if the opportunity is there for him then it's a chance to good for him to turn down. He's been a proper player for SUFC of that there is no doubt.

His contract is up in the summer we will have offered him one ! His choice to leave what could we have done. Greek football isn't as demanding of players so he will be looking at that as well as money.Hes had calf issues so easier league matches will probably mean he can stay fit he was finding it harder in last couple of years.
I think when he went to Greece in the international break when carrying an injury told the story .
 
This one hurts because Baldock loves it here and he has been a great servant - but his body is letting him down now and we can’t carry players who are out injured for large parts of the season.
