Bad bad news to come out at BDTBL

Don't think this has been mentioned yet, but they aren't even our players anymore!

whats the big fuss about? They're not even our players!!

Surely Spurs can loan them to whoever they wish

And presumably the players themselves have some input into where they go.

Perhaps the 2 Kyles and Monty are in a car now going up the M1 all singing `Marching on Together '

If ever a thread didn't live up to its title... I was expecting to read that Lee Strafford had been appointed chairman.

This might be too much of a leap, and it is total speculation on my point but.....

If Bills' post earlier in the week is correct Leeds couldn't be handed a £10-15 Million bill from the IR which they can't afford and will put them out of business.
Is it a bridge too far to say they may as well go for "shit or bust" this season in an attempt to get to the PL within which this bill is easily affordable?

Too much leftfield?

That would assume their owners (whoever they may be) would be willing to invest some further significant capital as it would be a leap of faith for a normal institutional lender to take such a risk.

He is to busy fighting of the fudders over on owlstalk at the moment although he has just taken a time out to tend to the kids

I think BB hadn't had any attention for a couple of hours, poor chap.

Maybe there's a help line somewhere called "Attention Seekers R Us"

Is this what it's going to be like all summer? Shit rumour after shit rumour?

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but the Kyles are not our players anymore. A substantial offer was made, we needed the cash, the deal was done and they went to Spurs. Therefore, how is this bad news coming OUT of the club, and how are McCabe and Blackwell responsible, assuming of course that this isn't horse-shit like 90% of other rumours that come to nowt? It would be disappointing seeing them at Elland Road, and I doubt if we'd have ever sold them direct to Leeds, but that is the crazy world of football for you. Rumours are taken as fact and a lot of nonsense is talked and reported (Did Paddy sign for QPR last Tuesday as I was told he would, for example)...

Exactly. Come on guys, let's see those hands in the air and sing it with me... Brotherly, brotherly, brotherly luuuurve.

Boro were quite happy with Naughton and would have more cash to take him on loan for the season than weeds.

Chinese whispers yet again.
Who honestly gives a shit?
Let both go to Leeds. How is that bad news comin out of BDTBL? If Monty wants to go too, then crack on. We'll have our own squad sorted by the start of the season IMO.
Have faith fellow Blades. Fuck what everyone else is doing.

Agreed as I posted on Bladesmad

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan says he would love to sign Tottenham loanee Kyle Naughton on a permanent deal.

The versatile defender has spent the past two months on loan at The Riverside, making 14 appearances in a combination of both right and left-back positions.

He has had a major impact since his arrival in the January window, so much so that Strachan wants to make his switch more permanent.

As it stands, Naughton is set to play his last match for Boro against Leicester on Sunday but the Scotsman says he would ideally like to keep him beyond that game.

So is the implication that Naughton would prefer Leeds to Boro ? if so what has that to do with us.

Too right. We're getting Danny Rose as our pick of Tottenham's youngsters coming on loan anyway.
He'll make his debut when we arrange the long-awaited friendly with Leeds.

I kind of agree with beighton,it is frustrating to see players that never should have been sold, move to big rivals to us.That is IF the deal goes through.

£8million for two full backs with less than 50 games between them..unable to claim a place in a premiership team and we needed the money to pay for the debts incurred under Robson which were starting to cripple the club

Remindme again why they shouldn't have been sold ?

Because if we are a club that wants to go places without having to buy players in,then to me,adopting a `lets sell all our assests every season policy`,will get us no-where.weve no money for players,so bleeding homegrown talent into the team is the best way forward for us.So as for your comment,i dont agree with it.2 seasons ago when bobarwell had his first full season,we got to the play.off final(and if beattie had not been sold)we would have been promoted automatically, last season without the services of naughton, and a handful by walker we were poor.A steady decline of player qualities mean only 1 thing-a steady decline in league position. So you think that the sale did the club some good?methinks not.United should have taken a gamble and upped there wages and busted there guts to keep hold of beattie and the 2 kyles,i think many blades fans would agree, that the gamble would have paid off.

All a fuss about feck all. It's likely Michael Brown will be off to one of the promoted teams too, wanna kick off about that. FFS. Concentrate on the Blades, not spurs, leeds or whoever else. Christ!

Just another excuse to kick the board in the most tenuous way yet!

We had to sell our 'assets' because we gambled on going back up and lost. We were in danger of doing a Palace/Leeds/Portsmouth etc...would you rather we go bust ? We couldn't afford to keep Beattie.

Last season our problem was not scoring enough goals not that we didn't have the two Kyles(don't get me wrong I would have loved to have kept them both...especially Walker).Sometimes clubs get offers they cannot refuse(Ronaldo being sold by Man Utd) and I think at £8million for those two we should have sold them.

Apart from the two Kyles ,it's along time since we produced any quality from the academy...the reason Pemberton is now in?

Ultimately,if we had gambled and not gone up(and no one could have guaranteed promotion. eg Cardiff),we would be in more financial problems than what we are now.

My worry is the planning of the club. Warnock spent over £15million in his last 2 transfer windows and he got us relagated.Basically the club backed him with cash and he messed up. The board then gambled for 18 months under Robson then Blackwell. Something had to give and if we left it any longer without sales,I believe we would have been relegated last season.

The false economy for me is the money spent on loan players last season pushing uo our wage bill to approx £13million...the reason Robinson has gone ?

Ultimately,we have probably gone back 5 years financially. The problem has been spotted in time to prevent us going under. I would not want a further 'gamble' that would sink the club which you appear to want us to do. Where do you think the money for such a gamble is going to come from ?

Absolutely spot on. The biggest disaster was the appointment of Robson as the man to take us straight back up, and this has been compounded by the credit crunch & general devaluation of asset values. The biggest thing that McCabe has got wrong is the appointment of Robson. Some on here will say that the biggest mistake was building the hotel, but that wasn't a mistake at the time. All he lacked there was the same crystal ball that the rest of us were lacking in terms of what was going to happen to the global economy.

Jeeesus christ.... have I missed something in reading this or does it essentially boil down to "Two players we got a decent amount of cash for - and now have no control over - have failed to make an impact in the Premier League and are being loaned out. How the hell is bad news coming out of the Lane?! Or is this just what's happening now when an ex player moves club?

Next weeks breaking news.... Shaun Derry moves to Watford....SACK THE BOARD!!!

An interesting read but whereas some think McCabe is a greedy git who is creaming off the top I think your view is too far the other way, I don't think by rejecting the 8 million for the Kyles and paying slightly beyond our means for a year or two would put us in the brown stuff like Palace & Pompey. The truth is probably a milder version of your view.

It's easy when it's not your/your families money - the long term future of the club was put before another year of overated Premier League football. Get over it!

How is this news coming out of Bramall Lane???

White Hart Lane... Elland Road...

In more serious news, Barry the Lurpak man has melted.

We were in danger of doing a Palace/Leeds/Portsmouth etc...would you rather we go bust ?

This is absolute garbage. We were in no such danger.

Last season our problem was not scoring enough goals not that we didn't have the two Kyles(don't get me wrong I would have loved to have kept them both...especially Walker).

Are you sure?

Goals scored in 2008-9: 64
Goals scored in 2009-10: 62

Goals conceded in 2008-9: 39
Goals conceded in 2009-10: 55

Key defenders sold before and during 2008-9: none
Key defenders sold before and during 2009-10: 3

defenders brought in on loan in 2008-9: 1 (Halford played at RB occasionally)
defenders brought in on loan in 2009-10: 7 (Connolly, Seip, Bartley, Kallio, Davies, Nosworthy, Walker)

Finish in 2008-9: 3rd
Finish in 2009-10: 8th

If you can't see how these things link together, I don't know what to do for you.
