2+2 = 7 :D every fooker knows its 5

This part post from another Blade sums things up perfect for me :

OUR FANS ARE NOT FICKLE EITHER, they have been moulded into the cynical sneering tw@ts that they are by a f@cking horrible c@nt of a football club run by one set of lying b@stards after another.

The 2 K's grab the money i say... at the time it was the reight thing to do........ the money thats been wasted at BDTBL over the recent past is astounding given that McCabe is a smart cookie  .......... how has he made money ?

Get rid of the high paid two hats who cudn't give two fooks about the Blades and tell the truth Mr McCabe that wud be a start...... oh and if yer dont mind fook cheap as chips off a.s.a.p........ ta mi owd.

Your contributions to the forum are one dimensional Len. Whatever you 'had' in being able to bring a different perspective to discussions is long gone...

I'm just glad to see irony still exists in the world of eternal sunshine.

We had to sell our 'assets' because we gambled on going back up and lost. We were in danger of doing a Palace/Leeds/Portsmouth etc...would you rather we go bust ? We couldn't afford to keep Beattie.

Last season our problem was not scoring enough goals not that we didn't have the two Kyles(don't get me wrong I would have loved to have kept them both...especially Walker).Sometimes clubs get offers they cannot refuse(Ronaldo being sold by Man Utd) and I think at £8million for those two we should have sold them.

Apart from the two Kyles ,it's along time since we produced any quality from the academy...the reason Pemberton is now in?

Ultimately,if we had gambled and not gone up(and no one could have guaranteed promotion. eg Cardiff),we would be in more financial problems than what we are now.

My worry is the planning of the club. Warnock spent over £15million in his last 2 transfer windows and he got us relagated.Basically the club backed him with cash and he messed up. The board then gambled for 18 months under Robson then Blackwell. Something had to give and if we left it any longer without sales,I believe we would have been relegated last season.

The false economy for me is the money spent on loan players last season pushing uo our wage bill to approx £13million...the reason Robinson has gone ?

Ultimately,we have probably gone back 5 years financially. The problem has been spotted in time to prevent us going under. I would not want a further 'gamble' that would sink the club which you appear to want us to do. Where do you think the money for such a gamble is going to come from ?

Exactly, we're just the same as any other club.
I mean, it's not as if we've got an extra £20m bonus (the equivalent of another two years parachute payments) is it?
What ever did happen to that money?

An interesting read but whereas some think McCabe is a greedy git who is creaming off the top I think your view is too far the other way, I don't think by rejecting the 8 million for the Kyles and paying slightly beyond our means for a year or two would put us in the brown stuff like Palace & Pompey. The truth is probably a milder version of your view.

santos,a man with his head out of the sand

It's easy when it's not your/your families money - the long term future of the club was put before another year of overated Premier League football. Get over it!
dear me,lets all sit back and watch our club sail down the shitter

This is absolute garbage. We were in no such danger.

Last season our problem was not scoring enough goals not that we didn't have the two Kyles(don't get me wrong I would have loved to have kept them both...especially Walker).

Are you sure?

Goals scored in 2008-9: 64
Goals scored in 2009-10: 62

Goals conceded in 2008-9: 39
Goals conceded in 2009-10: 55

Key defenders sold before and during 2008-9: none
Key defenders sold before and during 2009-10: 3

defenders brought in on loan in 2008-9: 1 (Halford played at RB occasionally)
defenders brought in on loan in 2009-10: 7 (Connolly, Seip, Bartley, Kallio, Davies, Nosworthy, Walker)

Finish in 2008-9: 3rd
Finish in 2009-10: 8th

If you can't see how these things link together, I don't know what to do for you.

Amen.a light in the dark

As the saying goes, 'Nothing to see here, move on'.

A text rumour with absolutely no substance elsewhere. But what if they do go to Leeds? As older fans will testify it's part of a pattern that has been going since the sixties - Jones, Currie, Sabella, Hamson etc. Except these were our players. The Kyles have moved on for decent money. Both would have been better off career-wise by moving to Everton, but that's agents for you.

Given the right breaks, I've no doubt Walker will make it. I've got doubts about Naughton - he was run ragged at West Brom at the end of last season. No, I sense all this dismay is because it's Leeds. In my book, the loss of Jags was worse but this petty spite about Leeds keeps going. Let's face it we - both the team and the city - will always be in the shadow of Leeds. You can thank regional TV and our overwhemingly pig-supporting MPs for that.

A quick glance at the paper today shows that Leeds have lost their icon Beckford. (Liverpool get Torres, Everton get Beckford...) For nothing. Blackpool are trying to hijack Danny Welbeck's move to hated near-rivals Preston. Top teams are queueing up for Wunderkid Wickham at Ipswich.

Yet some on here base a rumour on the fact that 'it only happens to United.'

Leeds took the gamble that they would keep him last summer, refused to sign a contract extension, and that if he got them promoted it would be worth the "losing him for nothing" at the end of the season.
He top scored for them and they got promoted.

You're quite right, that would never have happened to us.

Those Pesky agents.

I wouldn't credit them with such perspicacity. Did Leeds ever turn down a significant bid?

All we've heard from Leeds fans this year is what a berk Beckford has been and how his agent has an awful lot to answer for. You can't argue with his goals return or the fact he helped them up, but it was by the skin of their teeth, and many Leeds fans wanted Beckford out.

I think they were more lucky than good.

Think they'd just made £8m from the sale of a promising youngster and took the view that they didn't need to sell anyone else. My understanding is that a tentative bid of around 1.5 was offered by Everton in Jan and was rejected outright.

I'd have them both back, however Naughton did struggle at Boro I believe?

Also what if Walker actually WANTS to go to Leeds and not to us...

Are you saying that they are not very good at sweating?
You always used to be so good at English.

It's a noun (root form perspex) and it means 'being transparent in all dealings' something that leeds always have been - allegedly.

looks like the bad news will be breaking soon .... oh dear oh dear oh dear

As usual BB,all headlines and no substance.....you STILL fail to nail your colours to the mast and say what you've heard so we can see how much you know. Basically you just follow the rumour mill on BladesMad and there is so much stirring on there that someone eventually will be right.

Tell us what you know, and when it happens we'll tell you if it's bad news.

Whilst whatever happens will happen it is always going to be disappointing if we're forced at some stage this season to see Leeds come to the Lane with both Kyles and Monty in their lineup. In terms of paying our key players we should be looking to compete with their like for me and it would be a shame to see three players who love the blades playing against us in their shirt especially.

Without ranting at the board I thought it was a mistake to let them both go last year and in hindsight I believe this even more. Just what have we done with the money that came in? If there was any tangible and positive gain (visible to us fans) then I could see that the money may have been the key but in the end the money we got in last year was wasted in large parts on us then struggling to arrange replacements for them; paying ridiculous signing fees and wages to players who either weren't good enough or weren't able to settle in properly.

This summer we're still faced with the same issue of not having a right back and needing cover centrally and at left back - we're still going to have to be paying this summer to fill that gap that went unfilled. I'd guestimate around £2 - £3m has already been spent on paying their pt replacements and in filling their positions we'll be lucky to get by without paying another £1m - having done that we'll undoubtedly still be left with a worse lineup than had we kept them whilst they in all likelihood will be helping another team at our level compete for the few spots that are available to get out of this league. It was a bad decision, it was a bad decision to rely on walker without getting cover in given that spurs could always do what they did - although this may not have been clear to us fans you can guarantee blackwell and the board should have been aware. I also feel putting blackwell in charge of replacing them this summer will prove to be another mistake - I struggle to recall 1 defensive player he's signed who has settled in well in 3 years, when you need to rebuild the team from the back forwards I'm not sure he's the man.

I understand opinion is split on monty staying or going but for a guy that's been with us so long, put so much effort and determination into every minute on that pitch and broken half his body doing it for us I can only feel saddened that the relationship between club and player may be broken because we won't offer him an extra year, because he feels unwanted or because we can save some more money.

As a fan you want to see players playing for your team that give a shit; players that care for the club and players who do their job well. We had a core of the team that matched these desirables and we seem to have sacrificed it so that we can spunk money away on agents, loanees and players like Ryan France. As I understand it the players weren't banging on the door asking to leave until the bids were presented to them and we'd accepted them in principle making it clear we we're happy to let them leave. I really don't believe they would have flounced if we had turned the bids down and asked them to stay with us for another year. I also don't think they were on massive wages and don't think it would have required us paying them massive wages to keep them on last year. Had we set our stall out early by telling them how important they were to us and rejecting bids flatly then I'm confident we could have kept them on without paying massively more than we ended up paying anyway. I also think they would have been the difference we needed, even more important than their ability is that I'm almost certain they'd have allowed us to continue a stable consistent and reliable back line. By christmas I don't think Killa would have considered leaving as we would have been better placed than we were.

Whatever the outcome of this weeks dealings we fucked this up last year and won't ever put it right. We sold out a large part of the future of this club and let blackwell piss the consolation money into a vaccuous pit of loanees, crocks and spanners.

BB stop speaking in code and be clear FFS. I used to have a chuckle when you posted, but now i just roll my eyes.

If you know what it is just say, if not then say nothing.

Soton, he's taking about Paddy signing for QPR by the end of the week. The same rumour has Monty agreeing a new long term contract with us.

So this is essentially a post from BB that is the usual meaningless semi-cryptic stuff that he starts a thread with, it then followed by one of ITK crowd adding substance to it, before showing it really to be some crap that has been regurgitated from the fountain of all knowledge that is of Blades-Mad, it then debated for 5 long tedious pages where the club get ragged from pillar to post by the usual protagonists, whilst anyone who attempts to be dismissive towards the rumour is shouted down en masse, and anyone who posts anything sensible find their post lost in the deep abyss of the overexcitable and frenzied doom merchants.

The saddest thing is that it is has probably been thought up by some bright spark on BM to get a whole raft of shit-flinging going, before getting regurgitated on here to the same dull, tedious and boring conclusion.
