Surprisingly as the season panned out I almost dreamed we would win the league and go straight back to the premiership. It didn't happen and I now find myself looking forward to winning at Wembley and getting the monkey off our backs. I then ask myself as an old guy and maybe not many years left going to the Lane, would I prefer to go out knowing we had won a playoff (or anything) at Wembley or going up in the automatics? No brainer for me, winning at Wembley and the memories you take with you every time. So, there's still hope!

Great post. Blades fans need to channel this energy - especially at BDTBL. This is our time, our destiny. 100 years since a Wembley win, and facing Bristol City who were the start of the play off nightmare. If not, why not?

Even if it's in our blood to be negative about play offs, let's turn the Lane into a bear pit for the home leg. Don't bring negativity. If you can go to the game, please go and play your part. Remember Forest at home in the playoffs in 2002/3? Owt is possible. If we get through carry this "can do" mentality and belief to London. Be a positive part of something that we'll all remember forever! No regrets...

I hate Wembley in every conceivable way.
Yes, and Cardiff. So many wasted days, so much disappointment trailing back to Sheffield and another week on the grind. I will be going to Wembley if we get there, think we will. The disappointment of losing is so hard to take, so many times but imagine the elation of winning. That's why we keep going....always a Blade

Do we still have a choice if we want to get promoted?

I’d love to see us win in the playoffs, however getting through 3 games is far more hassle than just finishing top 2 so I’d take that anytime.

Although if we use the additional time we had knowing we were promoted as stupidly as we did last time we were promoted we may as well have a crack at the playoffs.

I might be in the minority but I love a day out at Wembley regardless of the result. Yeah, on the day, the journey home is shit but it's a day out with family and friends and it's memories. I like many others have been to every big game we've played at Wembley since I was born but I'm at the point now where I can't not go, just in case..

We will do it one day so make sure you're there, let's get behind the lads for these next two games and then it's one final push.

No brainer for me, Win the league and finish the season in early May after 46 games rather than drag it out another month with three more extremely high intensity games. It's hard enough anyway, let alone when you have a shorter preseason

The Millennium is a much better stadium, but since that United no show…It harbours bad memories.

I am with you Toto maybe it is an age thing as a kid in the sixties loved the F.A. cup final on the TV then out to play football in the school playground dreaming that I would one day see the Blades win at Wembley still dreaming this has got to be the year hasn't it:)

We will do it this year. I’m a pessimistic Blade but I’ve got some strange feeling and I can’t wait to hopefully win at Wembley

To elaborate on my feelings for the place

It's shit to get to

It's too big, meaning it's impossible to have a great atmosphere

It's ridiculously expensive in every way.

Getting back home has always been crap.

I appreciate point 4 would change with an alternative result.😁

I hate Wembley because of the journey. The expectation amd the result. And until Man City I've gone with mates. So coach/limo too much ale.

But for man city I took the daughter for her 1st visit. A friend drove. We stayed off the ale completely. Got there early. Walked round the stadium. Got in early.

That day was about her and the day out (and the expectations were low).

If we get there this time I'll do same..but it's what's on offer that is the "problem".

But if we do it I will bloody cry.

If we were to get through. The opposition would make a huge difference to me. Living on the Chiltern train line would make a hell of a difference if Sunlun beat Cov. It would be a fucking nightmare if Cov got through. It was bad enough with Man City and Uddersfield.

If we go up via autos - i'll still be there next season with my season ticket
If we go up via the play offs - i'll still be there next season with my season ticket
If we lose at wembley in the final - i'll still be there next season with my season ticket
If bristol knock us out this week - i'll still be there next season with my season ticket

There is a common trend in all the above but if i had a guaranteed choice then YES i would always choose to win the league and get promoted.

If you can't win the league 2nd place isnt as much as pull to me as winning the playoffs. i'd much rather go up through the playoffs at wembley if you can't top the league and get the trophy.

On a side note I can't believe yet again we haven't sold out a home play off tie after what i personally think is a great season for all involved at the club, if you would have asked me last year if i would have taken 6th place i would of snapped your hand off let alone be 20 odd points clear of 6th on over 90 points.

Beat bristol, win the final, build that new training ground and go again blades!!!!!

We can get promoted and come back down a wealthier club even without staying in the premier league.

Yes, exactly like I said.
