If we sold him and Anel and effectively swapped him for Johnston then I’d love for us to give Lorient a call and go for Isaak Toure.

The guy is 2.06m.

Imagine the state of that defence with him and Souttar in there!

Add Moore in there - imagine how dangerous we’d be from dead balls!

He’s still quite young and has great potential.

Do it!

Robinson and RND are better in a three than a four. If we're playing a four I would give Trusty a try alongside Souttar (if Anel goes).
Agreed on RND and Robbo. Don’t see either of them as long term solution at CB in a four (although I like them both and really rate RND).

I guess giving Trusty a shot there is worth it if we can’t sell him but I think if we get a decent fee for him we should probably move him on. He’s been the biggest disappointment for me from last years recruitment. Most of them were a punt and so didn’t really expect much. But Trusty was Brum POTY. Perhaps he’ll come good but I reckon (excepting Hamer) we might be better to just draw a line under that window and move on.

I mean, he hasn't even had the opportunity yet to play a game in the Championship for United. The only game he's played this season was in the League Cup, and he scored a goal there.
Would be a shame to give up on him so soon, imo. He seems a likeable guy and a true professional. And he showed at Birmingham that he's not completely out of his depth in this league.

Sure, you could argue that if he's any good, why can't he even get past Robinson? But sometimes all it takes is an opportunity.
Remember seeing him on loan at Birmingham, caught the eye as a standout player at this level.

That's like saying Robinson was our POTY last year lol.

A very poor Birmingham team, he was just slightly less shit than the rest.

I can foresee Wilder giving some consideration to Liam Cooper.

He’s been local in the Yorks/Derbys region for some time, good mate of Sharp’s if I recall.

If he’s really not sold on Trusty, then I can imagine the temptation in bringing in Cooper on a free and using the Trusty money elsewhere.

Not long term but he is often making the comment of needing experience.

Very disappointing that our £5m CB has not developed and can't displace Robinson whom many on here agree is not good enough to play in a two.
If we lose Anel & Trusty , what remains ?
Gilchrist , currently deputising at RB.
Souttar who looks fine.
Robinson , not really good enough but been made captain.
RND who's not really proven his return to fitness after a long absence.

Even if we are permanently changing to 2 CBs , that looks a weak defence dept.

And we don't own the better pair.

So imho , both Anel & Trusty need replacing if they go.
Makes sense

This is why everyone says the rebuild isn’t just one transfer window. It will take time, we are signing more permanents it seems which is good. So in Jan / Next summer we would be looking to replace the loans so we would go for a right back etc.

I like the way the recruitment is run with Wilder but will take time.

We need 2 new centre half’s if we are to compete at the top.

How the fuck he got Player of the Year at Birmingham is behind me! He's slow, doesn't pick his man up, can't tackle. Get fucking rid.!

I'm happy for us to get rid. Doesn't fill me with confidence when he playing. However I could be wrong with time as I though same with robbo. And I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong in the end with robbo as last 2 seasons I've been more than happy. Solid love a proper old school tackle and gives his allfor the shirt.

I'd take Cooper now. It would be beneficial having that experience and beneficial if we ever intend to play with a back 3. Playing in the middle would be his best position and negate his weaknesses

Be funny if he was ostensibly Anel's replacement though..... same owd

And Paul Dummett?

Maybe the point here is, if Trusty spends the majority of the season on the bench for us, we're unlikely to get our £5m back. Sell him now and we've got our money back.

Cooper, can't get in Leeds side for a reason... he's shit, Sharp turned him inside out last time we played them!

We have the perfect player to be in the middle of a 3 in Souttar. Cooper is dog meat but I’d still rather have him than Trusty.

not sure we need a left sided cb to replace him. Soutter's dominance is more of a stopper and just need someone to cover. I still think Ashley Phillips would be a good loan if we can't find a transfer.

I quite agree. I don't mind Trusty for the reasons you've listed.

But he can't get past Robbo, and he's captain. I think those chances will be limited.
If this enables us to sign a game changing left winger, I think I'd do it.

Wilder really didn’t rate any of the last squad. Getting rid of them all.

He didn't seem too concerned about some of the players he has signed leaving as well. I think he is quite happy to see the back of a few players that he probably thinks let him down a bit last time round.

Agree SM but if Robinson is first choice as LCB, it highlights another (too) weak area that will need improving. While he may be club captain, Robinson simply can't be the solution in that position, especially if CW plans to continue playing 4 at the back. His limitations and inevitable mistakes will cost the team points.

Believe me I'm the chief Robbo hater, I know 🤣
