In fairness to him, he had no chance. He spent his time here watching the ball fly over his head from the defenders to the forwards. Midfield was just a nebulous concept at that time.

Big Nose#1, arguably did a bit of a job alongside Ken McNaught, in that they steadied the ship under Porterfield. We did become more organised, although even as a young man, I can recall his lack of physical committment. You could feel the "I'm not getting injured for this lot", thoughts, from the stands.

Honestly didn’t mind him when he was here, no world beater but was steady enough imo. Watching the Celtic game today though, he’s abysmal, looks like he’s never played the game before.

He was utter gash. Always behind the state of play and never strong enough to withstand a challenge. Weak in the air and lacking in pace. He was bobbar for us.

Supposedly never settled in Sheffield and regretted leaving Swansea immediately. Memorable quote "It was a mistake and I should never have left Swansea"

Don't forget Blackwell only lasted 2 games into that season before getting sacked, Britton had 4 managers in the 5 months he was here. T'owd Diags won't have helped but it was an awful time to join us all round.

I bet he was straight onto his agent as soon as we announced Alehouse Mickey, still IMHO the worst permanent manager we've ever had (10 match minimum).
