I can see our average topping 25k, there will be 30k gates with Weeds/pigs (Fulham are winning play offs) plus a few early 20k's v crap like Burton.
Then when we go up next season McCabe needs to build some more seats, Prem gates could push 35 - 40k easily.
Also remember, although the bottom tier has 2,990 seats.
In recent season we've only ever allowed a max of 2,100 in there.
I assume it will be the same next season.
First 2 rows netted off and then 2 lots of netting at either end meaning 900 empty seats.
Also I don't think the bigger clubs will be happy with 2,100 tickets, so would imagine we'll sell some up in the upper tier too BUT that means reduced capacity again with a big no mans land in the top tier.
You would have thought loads of HD cctv cameras and signs warnings they can be banned or prosecuted should be a big enoug deterrent to control things up there so only a small amount of netting would be needed for segregation.
A mid table average season will mean 25K average gates, if we're anywhere near the playoffs then about 27K average, would be more without all this netting.
In all honesty do we care that much about attendances, the grunters always start there arguments with us over attendance, personally I say leave them to it, as long as we have fans going who enjoy it and there is a good atmosphere then it really does not matter.
I for one care about attendances. It's one of the indicators, not exclusively of course, of an important, successful and yes 'massive' club. Lots of football fans across the country take notice of, and either admire or envy, clubs who attract large crowds. "What was the crowd" is often the very next question after "how did they go on". Crowds matter. In the long run they go hand in hand with achievement. It's why Crewe have never been league champions.
As between talking about attendances and allowing our views to be conditioned by what the Pig fans do or say, I'm up for an all-nighter chatting attendances and massiveness.
There's nothing wrong with talking attendances or any other topic relating to SUFC for that matter. It seems we have another branch of guardians on this board - the attendance police. What we don't do is indulge in wild exaggerations about 28k sell-outs or fantasise about our 40k averages in days gone by, that's a different subject all together, i.e., massiveness. Discussing a crowd figure or potential attendance without any inference to massiveness is all part of the game so, attendance police, please find another theme to impose yourself upon.

As of 2 and a half weeks ago we'd sold 16k season tickets. That's already 2.5k more than last season and we're no doubt about it on target to hit 20k. So 6 and a half more than last season. Add that to this years average attendance of 21,500 and you have 28k plus bigger away attendances. We'll have a very high average next season and if we do well it could be just shy of 30k

Beat me to it with this reasoning WB. We have to assume that the vast majority of the new season ticket holders were in attendance for the average to reach where it got to. I'm with you on the calculations but its good to speculate. That's assuming the 6.5k increase in ST's mean they didn't attend the games at all this year, so not in this season's average ! So flawed calculations.
I expect average next season around 25-26k. Our home average up by 2-3k and away up by 1k. Many of away teams will fall well short of selling whatever allocation they get. We won't keep splitting lower tier for those games as demand will not always be needed, given increase in ST holders and therefore less occasional home fans.
Battling relegation - 22k, mid table 23-24k, battling playoffs 25-26k, battling top 2 26-27kIf this current trend of 'new'and 'returning' support carries on at the the lane, coupled along with the season ticket sales and let's say an average of two thousand away following,I reckon the blades will be averaging 27000 for the home games.
What we reckon??
I shall be doing two guess the attendance threads for a financial prize or two very shortly. Watch this space!

True, I'm a returned season ticket holder for example who went to quite a few but not all home games last season.Beat me to it with this reasoning WB. Who's massive now![]()
Easily. I think closer to 28k.If this current trend of 'new'and 'returning' support carries on at the the lane, coupled along with the season ticket sales and let's say an average of two thousand away following,I reckon the blades will be averaging 27000 for the home games.
