The way they give us an update every 5 minutes on Barnsley or Doncaster etc is absolutely daft especially when the ball is still in play.

This is because as well as providing a commentary on a game each week, we have a duty to cover all six clubs and provide updates. The club takes a feed of our broadcast.

And for what it's worth, in the previous era you speak of, there was an 'around the grounds' update every eight minutes -- at every other game, regardless of whether anything had happened or not. Now we only do goal updates.

I actually want to know what's going on in the match. If you want to be a bit more Talksport and just give update from every match then do that instead.

He doesn't follow the play, he doesn't really let the co-commentator speak much and he keeps cutting to every other fucking club in South Yorkshire that's playing.

He said BBD might be coming on. Then proceeded to not let us know if BBD had come on and for who. Instead just told us the Cardiff subs. Throw in that he announced Swansea City kicked off the match.

My personal favourite was saying how he got them mixed up with Swansea a couple times right at the start, which could be excusable if we hadn't literally just played Swansea away..

The commentary is paid for by BBC license payers, that's why it covers all 6 clubs. SUTV use it presumably because they don't want/can't afford their own commentators. Many other clubs do have their own. I believe SUTV used to.

I really don't understand the angst on this at all. I think the coverage is fine with 6 clubs in the catchment area got to expect some flitting around.

Like many I hate the Sky commentating, much prefer Radio Sheff commentary on SUTV.

Don't disagree with that. Rob Staten and Adam Oxley are much better.
