People having another pop at wilder, brooks had a lot of chances last season where he was truly abysmal. He then showed flashes of quality again towards the end of the season.

Really like brooks, hope he can have a big season, also hope he won’t be the only brooks at the lane next season as it seems he’s on the move.
Poor Wilder 😭

There was an away game early(ish) in the season where Brooks scored a great goal...then recovered with less than 100% intensity, lost his man and the opposition equalised.

The goal was easy too see and he looks like a great player, the lack of focus, or lack of commitment is not so easy to see but the result is.

I suspect this did not go down too well with Mr Wilder, and rightly so.

Cartwheels, handsprings, and the like are generally a bad sign. SAF frowned on this sort of thing (has McAtee got this out of his system yet).

He's a liability. Gerrim seld.

Poor Wilder 😭
Wouldn’t go as far as saying poor wilder piggy, he’s without doubt the best manager in Sheffield football modern history, and he’s probably just had roughly £2m deposited in account. Dominated the pigs in all his unbeaten 6 games he played em, smashing em in 3 of them. Left through front door this time with pride intact.

I can’t fathom the stick he gets on here, for me it’s either bitter blades or closet pigs.

All abart opinions.

Some of those on here about Brooks are truly laughable !

Good prospect is AB - we should defo sell him 😂.

At one point, he played 12 minutes in 16 games. He struggled at times but leaving him out completely was a poor use of resources.

That was the period where he couldn't be arsed in training.

Thought BBD was poor overall, besides a few good moments. His pedigree at this level and performances for us last season in the PL clearly influenced Wilder, hoping he'd recover that form that he's certainly capable of.

And yet he was brought in and then played in a totally different position to the one he'd performed extremely well in at a higher level than we were in last season.

Another example of the bizarre January business that Wilder did and no doubt contributed to the fact he no longer has a job with us!

Absolutely bizarre to play him as a winger, the place he's played most of his career. Can't wrap my head around it at all.

It's one thing to suggest that his poor performances for us this season were, in part, due to how Wilder used him. Why do people have to suggest it's completely bizarre, like he brought him in and played him centre half? Like it was the most stupid thing in the world that everyone knew wouldn't work instantly?

The bloke's been sacked. It's over. Can we not be done with the bitterness and desperate exaggerations of his shortcomings as a person and as a manager last season?

Example Number 347 of why you have the most apt user name on this forum.

Just to clarify. When we signed him on loan in the PL he was played out on the left. Now whether that was on the left of a 4231 or 433 is probably up for debate. Either way he was pretty damn successful in relative terms to the rest of the absolute car crash that was that season.

Based on that I'm actually baffled how you seem to be defending signing him and then sticking him out on the right where he, quite blatantly, looked absolutely atrocious.

So in short we brought back a player that had excelled out on the left at a higher level and then proceeded to play him on the right. If that's not bizarre then I'm not sure what is?

That's on top of paying £10m for Cannon and signing Holding on loan (at large cost probably) and not playing him but yeah we'e exaggerating his short comings!

In most of the games he played for us in the PL he played upfront. Check if you don't remember properly. That's what I thought you were on about, asking why he didn't get played upfront like he did last season.

He has excelled on the left though, both for us and for Blackburn. He played a fair few games on the left for us this season. His first start was on the left and we got beat three nill at home to Hull. Started a few more on the left after that, and I thought he looked average both on the left and the right all season. The Championship POTS started for us on the left, which is probably what kept him out that position long term.

Perhaps you finding Wilder's decisions "bizarre" and my comments "baffling" is more to do with you than anyone else. Again, to be clear, I understand criticising Wilder for playing him despite his bad form, in a position which he's less familiar with (despite it still being as a winger). It's the exaggeration that gets at me, as though the reasons it happened aren't at all understandable.

If we are about to play to Selles' system at Hull, then a fit and confident Brookes could be a real asset with the high intensity pressure. Especially when a change is n system will give us enough requirement to do as it is.
